This document considers potential music tracks to accompany radio advertisements for Ringwood Lower School and Sixth Form.
For the lower school advertisement, three options are discussed: "Creative Minds" by BenSound, which may be too upbeat for including script; "Summer" by BenSound, which risks putting students in a non-school mindset; and "Groovy Hip Hop" by BenSound, which risks coming across as cringey to students.
For the sixth form advertisement, two options are discussed: "Dreams" by BenSound, which risks being too fast-paced or associated with summer; and "E.R.F" by BenSound, which could become annoyingly repetitive for students

Kids at the early age are not prepared for organized violin classes in Singapore. The last thing you need to do is turn a youngster off of music as a result of an awful involvement at an early age.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2. LOWER SCHOOL
Choice 1: Creative Minds – BenSound
I have chosen this track as the first, potential choice because I found that it will fit the criteria of
being upbeat and motivational whilst also allowing the audience to enjoy the music. This is helped
by the appearance of the electric guitar that comes in during the audio allowing younger audiences
to be more immersed in the track which may persuade them to apply to Ringwood School.
This track further fitted the radio advert because Ringwood School employ various opportunities
for students to take hold of which consequently made me think of creativity and expanding ones
horizons seeing as they are new students. This track will potentially open their minds to bigger and
better places which fits nicely with the fact that these new pupils are transferring to a larger school
where there will be a wider range of not only events and opportunities , but also a chance for them
to find and explore what subjects they can find skill in and potentially immerse themselves in a
bigger future.
However, the disadvantage of this track is the fact that it may be more suitable for TV advert due
to the consistent upbeat tempo and lack of pauses or quieter parts of the track causing a potential
clash in audio and script for our student actors.
3. CHOICE 2: Summer – BenSoundLOWER SCHOOL
This track was also following an upbeat tempo which will allow the audience to stay more
engaged in the advert allowing a constant interest for them. Furthermore, this track also may
allow students to get into a ‘summery vibe’ where they will be thinking about ‘back to
school’ activities such as buying school supplies (in their case: new uniform, new sports kit,
stationary supplies: pencil case, pens etc.). Therefore, this track may change their mood to a
more motivational one – getting them ready for a new school life.
However, this track may be less successful because during summer, all students will avoid
thinking about school-related associations which may cause students to be disengaged in the
advert and therefore, cause a limited audience to perhaps parents only who may still attempt
to motivate and encourage their child/children to think about moving on into a new school.
Furthermore, because this advert is released on the 15th September, students will be thinking
about school causing this track to be somewhat out of date perhaps…Counteracting this, this
backing track still maintains a positive vibe due to the faster tempo and consistent upbeat
features which will allow students to believe that Ringwood School is an encouraging place
to be.
4. LOWER SCHOOL
CHOICE 3: Groovy Hip Hop – BenSound
From looking at our treatment, we decided to update our script for the lower school by in-
cooperating a rap rather than a monologue. This is because we thought it would give a fun, ‘funky’
representation. This would fit nicely because the advert is quick and snappy where we need to fit as
much information as possible. Therefore, if we were to have a short, punchy song it would not
only keep our potential audience interested and engaged, but also reveal Ringwood School as a
fun,. great place to be.
This track is described as a funky hip-hop sound allowing students to feel good and put them in a
‘good mood’. Therefore, this track will allow students to further feel motivated about being a new
student who is able to expand their horizons in various opportunities and allow them to feel
comfortable about finding their specialist skills.
However, the drawback of this, is the fact that our audience may find it ‘cringy’ and therefore, they
may become disinterested in our advert. Therefore, our audience may find these types of adverts
annoying to listen and consequently, Ringwood School may not feel as encouraged to apply.
5. SIXTH FORM CHOICE 1: Dreams – BenSound
Firstly, the title of this track immediately suited the connotations of entering a new place. This was because once a
student enters Sixth Form, they are able to set potential dreams for themselves whether that is University, an
apprenticeship etc. Therefore, I was able to fit this track nicely with our overall message too. This track was chosen as
first choice because I felt it was also keeping the upbeat theme that circulates these two adverts. It features synthesizers,
drums, electric bass allowing a motivational but also conveys a more adventurous tone due to the fact that the audience
is now targeted at an older generation aging between 16-18 year olds.
I also chose this track to be a potential feature because it adds a more ‘chilled’/’laid back’ mood which can be a
representation of a teenager approaching this age allowing this audience to feel less stressed about applying for sixth
forms/colleges so quickly and instead promote a more welcoming tone. This would fit nicely as Ringwood Sixth Form has
a reputation for being welcoming amongst internal and external students causing students to feel like they can be
themselves and feel comfortable about applying and staying there for the 2 year course.
On the other hand, this track may not be as useful because it can also be associated too much with summer causing
students to be stuck in this mindset and not immerse themselves in a more ‘hardworking’ state of mind. Additionally,
this track may be too fast for the script to be clear causing a rushed and clashing advert. However, to resolve this,
programmes such as Audition can be used to decrease the tempo and create a subtle and suitable track.
6. SIXTH FORM
This track may also be suitable due to the clapping that is heard in the beginning. This reminded me of
motivational vibes and encouraging students to a fresh start in their lives. It is conveys a welcoming tone which
will be suitable because again, this sixth form are known for always welcoming students from various places –
internal and external.
This track additionally gave me ‘celebration’ vibes which nicely foreshadows a celebratory event such as A-level
results day or even, throws back students to their great efforts from GCSE’s. Therefore, this is able to give
positive vibes towards new students who are entering Ringwood.
Additionally, this song is categorised in ‘corporate/pop’ suggesting it will fit the modern generations quite nicely
allowing it to also be catchy – This is good because we are advertising Ringwood Sixth Form as best we can to
students who could be considering it. Furthermore, this track features electric guitars and drums which seems to
be very popular amongst younger generations as it encourages students to adopt a positive attitude and
therefore, put them in a ‘good mood’. However, this track could be a problem because it may become quite
annoying for students to listen to as it is very repetitive. This will cause students to become disinterested in the
advert and cause us to have a limited audience. Nevertheless, it is known that if an advert becomes annoying to
the audience, it is more likely to be remembered and therefore, allow students to potentially apply to the Sixth
Form.
CHOICE 2: E.R.F – BenSound
