In this post I will demonstrate audience research including feedback received from my target audience and what I will gain from it all. For example: Understanding their Demographics, Social Grade and Psychographics etc.
2. What is an audience?
+ An audience is a selected group of people who are viewing
other people’s products and are one of the crucial reasons
that can affect someone's success on a marketing product,
for example an audience that is satisfied with your
work/product is more likely going to make you more
successful then an audience who are dissatisfied with a
product.
3. What else is needed to be successful?
+ Researching your target audience of course, it is an advantage
to get to know your own audience even if you don’t have one it
is never too late to start building a community of different
people who are interested to your product.
+ To get to know you own audience you would obviously need to
do some research but there are many things you may need to
know and which leads to the next question in the next slide…
4. What do I need to know from my
Target audience?
+ The following things to research are ideal for getting to know your
own target audience:
1. Social Grade – What have they achieved? A’s,B’s,C’s,
Diploma’s/Degrees etc. Anything to do with Education.
2. Demographics – To Find Factual Information such as Age, Gender,
Job Occupations, Income, Sexual Orientation, Families/households
etc.
3. Psychographics – To find Subjective information such as Opinions,
Religion, Personality Traits, Lifestyle choices etc.
5. My Research so far
+ I have considered and asked a selected bunch of
questions based on the topic for the client, the topic itself
is based of the Sunderland culture, so I decided to ask
some questions related to the subject to a selected group
of people to build up an idea for my audience profile.
6. More about my Research
+ The first two questions is simple as it asks
the gender for a person and the age, the
reason I ask that is that I can find out a little
bit about who they are as a person and will
get me a slight idea of what a guy/girl will
be more interested in as a subject based of
their age since people with different
genders and ages can have different
interests. (its more of personal tastes as
everyone is different)
7. More about my Research
+ I had to ask another simple question of
whether people who are in Sunderland
currently lives here or not.
+ The reason I ask this question is mainly
because people are more familiar if they are
local and currently live in Sunderland, there is
only one response which tell me they are not
in Sunderland, people from outside can have
different perspectives and opinions about
Sunderland if they are currently living in
another location.
8. More about my Research
I asked another question of whether anyone is
familiar about the client and what do they know
about them, this will allow me to view other
people’s perspective about them.
The reason I want to know this is because I
wanted to view opinions and hearing their
thoughts can allow me to know their familiarity on
the subject of the course.
9. More about my Research
On this question I have received mixed reviews on the
culture of Sunderland, both which are Positive and
Negative Vibes, it seems everyone have had different
experiences based on their opinions.
Most people who live in Sunderland based on my
personal research seems to be more interested in
other cultures rather then their own in Sunderland in
present day.
10. More about my Research
I asked about iconic places such as landmarks and
historic places since Sunderland was famous for that
reason, many people had pointed they have been to at
least 1 or more places.
What I have picked up from this survey the Stadium of
light is the most iconic place due to it's culture of
football and seeing as football is a popular sport
around the globe it is no surprise.
11. More again about my Research
I have asked for people’s opinions about living their daily life
in Sunderland such as expense, the higher majority of
people believes that Sunderland isn’t more expensive then
other places whilst a selection of other responses have a
Varity of mixed opinions.
12. Final Pieces of my Research
Yet again I have collected more responses of some mixed opinions, this
indicates that nearly half of the responses are either positive or negative.
13. Research
Summary
Social Grade: Currently most of the audience responses are currently
students who in College Education, the social Grade is most likely an E.
Demographics: There is not a lot to say since the Majority are Students
however, most students are at least 18 and over and many of them are Males
compared to Females, most of us would have had already achieved or is
currently at works experience, have a part time Job or is currently seeking
future employment.
Psychographics: The personality and traits of my audience are mixed to
many different opinions, Seeing as my audience are mainly college Students,
they are most likely Explorers, Strugglers and Reformers, no higher.
14. What I picked up from my Research
+ I have learned overall that at least half of the responses are at
least mixed opinions, such as positive and negative opinions
about Sunderland and it’s culture.
+ I learned about each of the Student’s personal experience with
Sunderland like the cost of living, I found out that usually
Sunderland is far less expensive then some places with only 1
response from an audience who says otherwise, the majority
finds that Sunderland’s cost of living is affordable.
+ I have understood my Audience's Demographics, Social
Grades and Psychographics, all of this information will be
useful for to build an audience profile which I am going to use to
help create the final product.
