Organizations are grappling to manually classify and create an inventory for distributed and heterogeneous data assets to deliver value. However, the new Azure service for enterprises – Azure Synapse Analytics is poised to help organizations and fill the gap between data warehouses and data lakes.
Big data requires service that can orchestrate and operationalize processes to refine the enormous stores of raw data into actionable business insights. Azure Data Factory is a managed cloud service that's built for these complex hybrid extract-transform-load (ETL), extract-load-transform (ELT), and data integration projects.
Privacy has become one of the most important critical topics in data today. It is more than how do we ingest and consume data but the important factors about how you protect your customer’s rights while balancing the business need. In our session, we will bring CTO, Privacera, Don Bosco Durai together with Northwestern Mutual to detail an important use case in privacy and then show how to scale Privacy with a focus on the business needs. We will make the ability to scale effortless.

In this interactive panel discussion, you will hear from these Spark experts as to why they chose to go "all-in" on Spark, leveraging the rich core capabilities that make Spark so exciting, and committing to significant IP that turns Spark into a world-class enterprise data preparation engine.
Raymond and David will explain specific cases where capabilities were built on top of core Spark to provide a true interactive data prep application experience. Innovations such as creating a Domain Specific Language (DSL), an optimizing compiler, a persistent columnar caching layer, application specific Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDDs), on-line aggregation operators to solve the core memory, pipelining and shuffling obstacles to produce a highly interactive application with the core user and data volume scale-out benefits of Spark.

Solving a data science problem is about more than making a model. It entails data cleaning, exploration, modeling and tuning, production deployment, and workflows governing each of these steps. In this simple example, we’ll take a look at how health data can be used to predict life expectancy. It will start with data engineering in Apache Spark, data exploration, model tuning and autologging with hyperopt and MLflow. It will continue with examples of how the model registry governs model promotion, and simple deployment to production with MLflow as a job or REST endpoint. This tutorial will cover the latest innovations from MLflow 1.12.

Modernizing to a Cloud Data ArchitectureDatabricks
Organizations with on-premises Hadoop infrastructure are bogged down by system complexity, unscalable infrastructure, and the increasing burden on DevOps to manage legacy architectures. Costs and resource utilization continue to go up while innovation has flatlined. In this session, you will learn why, now more than ever, enterprises are looking for cloud alternatives to Hadoop and are migrating off of the architecture in large numbers. You will also learn how elastic compute models’ benefits help one customer scale their analytics and AI workloads and best practices from their experience on a successful migration of their data and workloads to the cloud.

Microsoft released SQL Azure more than two years ago - that's enough time for testing (I hope!). So, are you ready to move your data to the Cloud? If you’re considering a business (i.e. a production environment) in the Cloud, you need to think about methods for backing up your data, a backup plan for your data and, eventually, restoring with Red Gate Cloud Services. In this session, you’ll see the differences, functionality, restrictions, and opportunities in SQL Azure and On-Premise SQL Server 2008/2008 R2/2012. We’ll consider topics such as how to be prepared for backup and restore, and which parts of a cloud environment are most important: keys, triggers, indexes, prices, security, service level agreements, etc.

SPSVB - To the Cloud! Using IaaS as a Hosting Provider for SharePointScott Hoag
To the cloud! This phrase seems to come up more and more often for organizations looking to reduce their SharePoint footprint and operational expenses in their on premise data centers. In this session Dan will give a brief overview of a few of the premier Infrastructure as a Service hosting providers for SharePoint, how SharePoint in the cloud stacks up against Office 365 and how to quickly get your SharePoint system built in a repeatable fashion for development environments.
Attendees will have a better understanding of core Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers. Attendees will understand the complexities of what is involved with implementing SharePoint in a cloud hosted environment. Attendees will see SharePoint what some of the nuances and workarounds are for hosting SharePoint in the cloud.

Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Essentials of Automations: Optimizing FME Workflows with ParametersSafe Software
Are you looking to streamline your workflows and boost your projects’ efficiency? Do you find yourself searching for ways to add flexibility and control over your FME workflows? If so, you’re in the right place.
Join us for an insightful dive into the world of FME parameters, a critical element in optimizing workflow efficiency. This webinar marks the beginning of our three-part “Essentials of Automation” series. This first webinar is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to utilize parameters effectively: enhancing the flexibility, maintainability, and user control of your FME projects.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Essentials of FME Parameters: Understand the pivotal role of parameters, including Reader/Writer, Transformer, User, and FME Flow categories. Discover how they are the key to unlocking automation and optimization within your workflows.
- Practical Applications in FME Form: Delve into key user parameter types including choice, connections, and file URLs. Allow users to control how a workflow runs, making your workflows more reusable. Learn to import values and deliver the best user experience for your workflows while enhancing accuracy.
- Optimization Strategies in FME Flow: Explore the creation and strategic deployment of parameters in FME Flow, including the use of deployment and geometry parameters, to maximize workflow efficiency.
- Pro Tips for Success: Gain insights on parameterizing connections and leveraging new features like Conditional Visibility for clarity and simplicity.
We’ll wrap up with a glimpse into future webinars, followed by a Q&A session to address your specific questions surrounding this topic.
Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your FME expertise and drive your projects to new heights of efficiency.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
