INTRODUCTION
Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan or Self-reliant
India campaign is the vision of new India envisaged
by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
On 12 May 2020, our PM raised a clarion call to the
nation giving a kick start to the Atmanirbhar Bharat
Abhiyaan (Self-reliant India campaign) and announced
the Special economic and comprehensive package of
INR 20 Lakh Cr- equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP – to
fight COVID-19 pandemic in India.
Atmanirbhar or Self Reliant means less dependency
on others .
It is actually the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister
Shri Narendra Modi to make India and Indians self
reliant by starting production of all mandatory items
locally .
Vocal for Local is also integral of Atmanirbhar
Bharat Abhiyan .
India is dependent on lots of imports from many
countries across the world .
During the time of pandemic all the import and
export activities across the world was on halt .
India faced problems in terms of shortage of
beds, PPE Kits, medicines and other necessary
equipments .
It was the time when we realised that it is the
time for us to depend upon indigenous innovation ,
products and local manufacturing .
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also defined
the Five pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat to boost
the economy and to turn difficulties into
opportunity .
OBJECTIVES
 Strengthening local and regional manufacturing and service
providers.
 Improving the standard of living by addressing trade deficits
and balance of payments.
 Achieving self-reliance for the country and its citizens in all
aspects.
 Transforming India into a global supply chain hub.
 Emphasizing self-reliance with a focus on land,
labour, liquidity, refoems, and laws.
 Providing economic stimulus packages
equivalent to 10% of the Indian GDP.
 Incentivizing small businesses and framers
affected by COVID-19 through special incentives
and funds.
1. ECONOMY
 We need an economy that doesn't bring incremental change but
makes quantum jumps.
2. INFRASTRUCTURE
 We need infrastructure that will become the identity of modern
India.
3. SYSTEM
 We need a system that is no longer based on the rules and rituals of
the past but one that actualises the dreams of the 21st century.
This system needs to be technology-based.
4. DEMOCRACY
 We are the world's biggest democracy. A vibrant demography is our
strength. It is the source of energy for our efforts to make India
self-reliant.
5. DEMAND
 The cycle of demand and supply in our economy is an asset. We
need to utilise this power fully.
SPECIAL ECONOMIC AND
COMPREHENSIVE PACKAGE OF RS.20
LAKH CRORE
TRANCHE 1 :-
Relief and credit support related to businesses, especially the MSMEs to
support Indian economy to fight against COVID-19.
TRANCHE 2 :-
Short term and long term measures for supporting the poor, including
migrants, farmers, tiny businesses and street vendors.
TRANCHE 3 :-
Measures to strengthen Agriculture Infrastructure Logistics, Capacity
Building, Governance and Administrative Reforms for Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food Processing Sectors.
TRANCHE 4 :-
Structural Reforms across eight sectors i.e. Coal, Minerals, Defense,
Civil Aviation, Power, Social, Space and Energy sectors paving way for
atmanirbhar bharat.
TRANCHE 5 :-
Measures towards Government Reforms and Enablers in seven measures
such as providing employment, support to businesses, Ease of doing
business and State government as well as sectors such as Education and
Health.
