ATAGTR2017 Keeping pace with Product Evolution: UI Automation Framework Guide...Agile Testing Alliance
The document discusses how to structure automation test frameworks to help them withstand changes to the application under test. It recommends separating automation code into business, implementation, and element repository layers. The business layer defines test cases agnostic of the application, while the implementation layer defines how actions are performed. The element repository stores locators, allowing them to change without breaking tests. When the application evolves, changes are typically needed only in the element repository layer. Structuring tests in this way helps automation scripts remain useful despite application changes.

This document discusses introducing continuous delivery practices at an organization. It provides four stories from different companies about their continuous delivery journeys. The first story describes challenges at Nokia with complicated dependencies and integration problems that were addressed by implementing delivery pipelines and consumer driven contracts. The second story focuses on delivering value and achieving a higher release frequency, shorter cycle times, and higher release success rates at another unnamed company. The third story discusses the architecture at eBay and improvements achieved by moving to more modular code and weekly releases. The final story cautions against skipping testing phases when moving to continuous delivery. Common themes that helped organizations were taking baby steps, establishing cross-functional teams, test automation, and focusing on delivering value.

Accelerate Your Delivery Pipeline with Continuous TestingSmartBear
The document discusses continuous testing in a DevOps pipeline. It describes a 4 step process: 1) Testing the idea by defining user stories and assumptions with BDD, 2) Testing the code by automating tests and integrating them into CI/CD, 3) Testing in production by monitoring metrics and performance, and 4) Iterating based on usage data and completing the test/deploy cycle. The benefits are validating value, incremental quality improvements, and an environment suitable for experiments.
We dreamt of a future where our whole department embraced TDD. A future where the quality of our code and the product was elevated.
We had the best intentions, however, this story does NOT have a happy ending.
Learn from my experience working with the leaders of a department of 40 to attempt 100% TDD adoption. I will contrast this with our successful adoption and spread of SOLID design practices, and look at what we would have done differently with our TDD advocacy if we were to repeat it. Some of our lessons learned: Don't try to mandate TDD, bring in outside experts, and refactoring skills are key.

This document discusses implementing continuous delivery practices. Continuous delivery aims to have software always ready for deployment by automating the development process, including coding, testing, and deployment. The key aspects are establishing an automated deployment pipeline and practicing continuous integration, deployment, and delivery. The document outlines steps to transition from a manual process to continuous delivery, including upgrading processes and using a patch installer tool to automate upgrades. Metrics are also important to measure the effectiveness of continuous delivery practices.
Automated testing has been around for several decades, spanning back to the advent of computer programming. While the rest of the software development and underlying technologies have made paradigm advances in speed and scalability, automated tests and their poor execution performance became the bottleneck. Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline execution also suffered as a result of the rise in the number of tests that were executed.
A well thought out test platform is built with intentionally selected tools that provide the optimal balance of speed, performance, and cost effectiveness. In this talk, Senior Software Developer, Anvesh Malhotra will cover the technology stack and architecture used to automate tests at Gannett.
Code Review tool for personal effectiveness and waste analysisMikalai Alimenkou
Usually it is hard to analyze personal effectiveness and detect wastes in development process because developer’s work decomposition is not transparent and available for analysis. As a good sample of ineffective process imagine developer, who spends 1 day on task implementation and then reimplements it several times according to code review notes during next 2 days. Or another developer, who is waiting for code review during 2 days, switching context to other tasks, finally gets notes and switches back to initial task, trying to refresh all details in his head. And so on and so forth…
Code review tool usage helps to aggregate lots of useful information about any code change at any stage (static analysis, code review, rework, acceptance, integration into main branch). In this talk I’m going to demontrate how this information could be used for detailed analysis of development effectiveness and wastes detection. Based on mentioned analysis you could implement many improvements for your development process and then measure their success.

How AI Can Be Leveraged In All Aspects Of TestingAlisha Henderson
QA has become an essential practice for businesses that are in the digital space. To achieve digital transformation businesses should embrace the latest technologies in their software development process and build a strong data engineering foundation to fuel innovation.
Continuous Testing - The Final FrontierJaco Greyling
Continuous testing is the practice of testing software throughout the development lifecycle to identify and address issues early. It involves automating test cases from requirements, simulating test environments, accessing test data on demand, starting multi-layer testing before UI, democratizing performance testing, and integrating open source testing tools. Most companies cannot currently do continuous testing but aspire to achieve it through practices like in-sprint testing automation, test scripting and execution within sprints, and analyzing test results to update requirements models. Continuous testing is important because it helps ensure high quality software and speed of delivery, both of which are critical to business success.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
