Final presentation for my institutional APPE. I presented a full breakdown Cardiac Amyloidosis including clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment options.
Oncologic18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) / computed tomography (CT)
essential for initial cancer staging and treatment monitoring
Focal FDG activity is a sensitive tool to localize malignant process
Focal FDG activity can be physiologic or non-malignant process (infection, inflammation)
Cardiac FDG uptake
Often not evaluated for oncologic PET-CT due to variable uptake pattern
Physiologic findings can include diffusely increased, focally increased, or regionally increased uptake
Differentiating malignant and non-malignant causes of focal cardiac FDG activity is important, as it can prevent unnecessary diagnostic steps and treatment
hyperparathyroidism with detailed discussion of primary Primary hyperparathyroidism, presentation , workup management & surgery & post operative management
Spinal Tumors: approach and managementAmit Agrawal
The spinal cord consists of
Central canal surrounded by an H-shaped gray matter region containing neurons
Outer myelinated nerve tracts, termed white matter, surround the central gray matter
Central canal is lined with ependymal cells
Astrocytes support gray matter neurons and white matter axons
Global launch of the Healthy Ageing and Prevention Index 2nd wave – alongside...ILC- UK
The Healthy Ageing and Prevention Index is an online tool created by ILC that ranks countries on six metrics including, life span, health span, work span, income, environmental performance, and happiness. The Index helps us understand how well countries have adapted to longevity and inform decision makers on what must be done to maximise the economic benefits that comes with living well for longer.
Alongside the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva on 28 May 2024, we launched the second version of our Index, allowing us to track progress and give new insights into what needs to be done to keep populations healthier for longer.
The speakers included:
Professor Orazio Schillaci, Minister of Health, Italy
Dr Hans Groth, Chairman of the Board, World Demographic & Ageing Forum
Professor Ilona Kickbusch, Founder and Chair, Global Health Centre, Geneva Graduate Institute and co-chair, World Health Summit Council

ü30 year old male
üCongenital generalized lipodystrophy
üEcho: asymmetric septal LVH
üECG: new inverted T waves in precordial leads
üReferred to CMR ? cardiomyopathy
Concurrent issues
üHepatic steatosis and hepatosplenomegaly
üImpaired fasting glucose
üThrombocytopenia
üMild hypertriglyceridemia
3. CMR Findings
Cine SSFP

intensity
(mixed signal)
Area of

Left ventricular hypertrophy with fibrosis
4. Discussion
• This case: cardiac involvement in congenital generalized lipodystrophy
• Lipodystrophies (generalized or partial) are rare diseases
• The loss of adipose tissue severe metabolic alterations
• insulin resistance
• hypertriglyceridemia
• fat deposits in lymphoreticular tissues
• Most frequent cardiac abnormality: symmetric LVH
5. Conclusion
• CMR can provide non-invasive myocardial tissue characterisation
• CMR can provide differential diagnosis in LVH phenotypes
(HCM, Fabry’s, sarcoidosis, etc)
• Cardiac involvement in lipodystrophy is associated with poor prognosis
Lypodistrophy or sarcomeric Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy?
