This document summarizes fisheries management of haor regions in Bangladesh. Haor are large bowl-shaped wetlands located in northeastern Bangladesh that are important ecosystems providing environmental, economic, and social value. They contain many fish species and support biodiversity and agriculture. Management of haor involves various government and non-government organizations working to sustainably harvest fish, address issues like flooding and erosion, and support communities dependent on haor resources. Diversified fishing gears are used to catch fish during the monsoon season, providing an important source of food and livelihoods for many rural Bangladeshis. However, better management is still needed to address challenges such as resource depletion and climate impacts.
