2. INTRODUCTION
❖ Asset management is a systematic process to organize, monitor, and sell the assets of an
organization in a cost-effective way.
❖ By monitoring the assets and their current working conditions, will help the business to
understand the loss/gain, equipment failures, etc.
❖ Odoo 15 also provides the feature of asset model and asset creation to manage the assets in a
company. The asset model is a feature to manage the asset entries for an asset.
❖ The depreciation for the asset can be set for a particular duration. A single asset model can be
used for creating multiple assets.

3. ❖ Goto Accounting > Assets

4. ❖ Goto Configuration > Asset Models
❖ Depreciation Methods are,
1. Straight Line
Straight line will calculate the depreciation linearly that is it will equally split the amount
for each year.

5. 2.Declining
Declining Factor: 0.40
In the case of declining the actual amount will multiply with a declining factor which is a
depreciable amount.

6. 3. Declining then Straight Line
It is a combination of straight line and declining. The depreciation is calculated by multiplying
with the declining factor as same as declining and when it reaches a linear value. It will follow
the straight line method.
❖ Prorata temporis is used to determine from which date the depreciation to be calculated. First
date of depreciation starts from the asset creation date ie; purchase date.
❖ Fixed asset account is used to document the purchasing of the asset at its original cost.
❖ Depreciation account is used to record the depreciation entries.
❖ Expense account is used to report expense of asset.

7. ❖ Click on Create

8. ❖ Goto Configuration > Chart of Accounts
❖ Click on Setup

9. ❖ Set Asset Model

10. ❖ Goto Vendors > Bills > Create
❖ Choose created expense account
❖ Click on Confirm

11. ❖ Click on Asset(s)

12. ❖ See Asset of corresponding vendor bill

13. ❖ Goto Accounting > Assets
❖ Click on Posted Entries

14. ❖ See all entries are draft state
❖ The journal entries are recorded in similar accounts on that particular accounting date and the
posted entries will be reflected in the profit and loss report.

15. ❖ Goto back to Assets
❖ Click on Sell or Dispose

16. ❖ Choose one action like sell or dispose
