10 mins Overview of Rubrics
Demonstration of how to create a Rubric
40 mins Hands-on activity (in pairs) to build Rubrics in your
Blackboard sites
10 mins Demonstration of associating Rubrics with
assessment items, using Rubrics to give feedback,
the Rubric statistics report, and exporting Rubrics
 Display the assessment criteria for an assessment
 Provide students with a clear understanding of expectations
 Ensure that marking is consistent and impartial
 Can be associated with assessment items (e.g. assignments and grade
columns)
 Can be used as a marking tool to demonstrate to students how they met
each criterion
 Can calculate an overall mark
 Can be copied, re-used and exported
 Can generate a statistical report showing rubric analysis and frequency
distribution, measuring outcome of an assessment
