CSPs must differentiate themselves to remain competitive in a digital future. Network virtualization and SDN can provide benefits like agile deployment, scalability, flexibility, improved security and resilience, and better customer experiences through self-service capabilities and guaranteed content delivery. The Internet of Things is also shaping new working models and synergies between consumers, businesses, and industries. Narrowband IoT technology in particular will change the IoT market through extended indoor range, low deployment costs leveraging existing network assets, low module costs, long battery life, open standards, and scalability of up to 100,000 devices per cell.

5G is not just another generation of mobile communications technology. 5G can be seen as "the network of networks" and it is going to have a profound impact on all human activities, the economy and the society. In fact, 5G can be seen as the digitalization catalyst for industries, as a variety of use cases will be either enhanced or created by the use of 5G. Immersive gaming, autonomous driving, remote robotic surgery and augmented reality support in maintenance and repair situations are just some of the use cases that will mostly benefit from the introduction of 5G. But what is the business potential of 5G? Ericsson, together with Arthur D. Little recently made a unique study in order to understand the industrial digitalization revenues for ICT players in 8 key industries. We have shared these findings with the IEEE 5G Summit's audience (Thessaloniki, July 11, 2017).

A report from Ericsson ConsumerLab shows how the internet facilitates smart choices in city life.
The idea of smart cities is an intriguing concept. However, the future will partly be a story of how the architects defining the way our future cities operate are going to be citizens themselves. As the internet makes us more informed, we are in turn making better informed decisions.
We are becoming smart citizens and through our changing behaviors, efficient practices and smarter social norms are developing in our cities.
With Internet of Things we are now entering a reality where billions of physical objects are being embedded with online intelligence and layer upon layer of digital interactivity. These connections, whether between wearable devices, cars and home automation systems, or among networked urban infrastructure and sensor-equipped industrial machinery, will serve as enablers for much more dynamic “things” enhanced with a wealth of new services that bring innovation with improved product performance and achievement of new levels efficiency. Rapid changes in customer expectations and the growth of IoT device are impacting rural service providers long term viability and relevance. Faced with outdated and burdensome Govt regulation, coupled with declining customer ARPU , OTT service threats and outdated networks, rural service providers are fighting for relevance and a voice in the IoT connected world.
Founded in Singapore in 2019, Global Digital Management Solutions (GDMS) provides consulting, data center & cloud-based services, and digital solutions for various sectors including government and the finance industry. GDMS cloud computing services are available in Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam.
Our main objective is to assist enterprises and government offices with their digital transformation projects. To accomplish this, we operate a local cloud infrastructure that enables companies to quickly and securely transition to the cloud while keeping their data local.
The digital transformation underway is accelerating, enabling new business opportunities both for telecom operators and for enterprises from other industries. The main drivers are the need for increased efficiency, flexibility and new business models enabled by the introduction of 5G and increased adoption of cloud technologies. New services can be expected to be deployed at an unprecedented pace.

Verso IoT experience – What have we learned from implementations all over the...Bosnia Agile
IoT projects face many obstacles on their journey from idea to end-to-end solution. Technology is less an issue, with many vendors and solutions emerging every day. This brings optimism, but also concerns about proper future proof choice and interoperability issues. Even bigger concerns are present in business model definition, business cases creation, go-to-market strategy preparation which requires organizational changes that companies need to conduct in order to be long-term successful in the IoT domain. Verso deploys many projects worldwide, focusing mainly on communication part of IoT solution, however being involved in business discussion as well. What are common technological and business obstacles and what are best practices to resolve them will be the main feature of our presentation.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
