Assessing the diffusion of nanotechnology in turkey

This document summarizes a study assessing the diffusion of nanotechnology in Turkey through social network analysis. The study analyzed bibliographic data from 2000-2010 from Bilkent University and Hacettepe University to map co-authorship networks and identify productive authors. It found the universities had different research topics with little shared activities. Central authors in each network helped boost the diffusion of nanotechnology information.

Biography: Jungwon Yoon is a research fellow at Soongsil University in South Korea. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology of Technology and Science from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. Her areas of expertise are in science and technology studies (STS), including science & technology policy, sociology of sciences, innovation studies, and technology management. Her current research focuses on dynamics of innovation systems in both South and North Korea. Visualization and Analysis of Dynamic Networks
DynNetwork development was taken up initially by Sabina Sara Pfister back in GSoC 2012. She laid out a strong foundation for dynamic network visualization in Cytoscape and my job was to extend the plugin’s functionality to help users analyse time changing networks. The two of us were mentored by Jason Montojo. We had developed a decent tool over the course of two GSoC programs to aid dynamic network analysis and our efforts culminated in DynNetwork getting accepted for an oral presentation at the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA), Sunbelt 2014 which was held in St. Petersburg, FL in February.
e- Research As Intervention (5 April 2010) J Unit

This document analyzes interactions in an online learning community using theories of pragmatics, speech act theory, and activity theory. It observes how dimensions of activity theory occur in an online forum and how they contribute to constructing meaning. A discourse analysis of 72 messages from a university blended course identified elements of activity theory dimensions. A social network analysis mapped the structure of discourse interactions. It found that interaction modalities and community played a central role in mediating message concatenation. The study concludes that online messages contain varied communicative actions and provides insight into improving discussions in e-learning environments.

Community Dynamics in Open Source Software Projects: Aging and Social Reshaping
This document analyzes the community dynamics of three open source bioinformatics projects (BioJava, Biopython, and BioPerl) over their lifetimes of 10+ years based on mailing list and version control data. It finds that most users are only active for their first 3 years before leaving, with survival rates declining over time, but those who survive longer than 3 years tend to remain engaged indefinitely. It also analyzes the social networks of the communities and finds indicators of "core generations" that evolve every 5 years and help define the projects' organization structures. Threats to the validity of the findings are also discussed.

1) Mr. H. S. Navin Kumar completed an internship from June to November 2014 in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida under the supervision of Mainak Chatterjee.
2) He was assigned a project on scheduling in dynamic spectrum access networks, a new topic for him, and learned about graph theory, algorithms, and wireless networks to gain background knowledge.
3) By investigating how secondary users can be scheduled based on interference modeled as a conflict graph, he proposed a scheduling scheme that improved network throughput by allocating multiple non-conflicting channels.

This document analyzes interactions in an online learning community using theories of pragmatics, speech act theory, and activity theory. It observes how dimensions of activity theory occur in an online forum and how they contribute to constructing meaning. A discourse analysis of 72 messages from a university blended course identified elements of activity theory dimensions. A social network analysis mapped the structure of discourse interactions. It found that interaction modalities and community played a central role in mediating message concatenation. The study concludes that online messages contain varied communicative actions and provides insight into improving discussions in e-learning environments.

Community Dynamics in Open Source Software Projects: Aging and Social Reshaping
This document analyzes the community dynamics of three open source bioinformatics projects (BioJava, Biopython, and BioPerl) over their lifetimes of 10+ years based on mailing list and version control data. It finds that most users are only active for their first 3 years before leaving, with survival rates declining over time, but those who survive longer than 3 years tend to remain engaged indefinitely. It also analyzes the social networks of the communities and finds indicators of "core generations" that evolve every 5 years and help define the projects' organization structures. Threats to the validity of the findings are also discussed.

1) Mr. H. S. Navin Kumar completed an internship from June to November 2014 in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida under the supervision of Mainak Chatterjee.
2) He was assigned a project on scheduling in dynamic spectrum access networks, a new topic for him, and learned about graph theory, algorithms, and wireless networks to gain background knowledge.
3) By investigating how secondary users can be scheduled based on interference modeled as a conflict graph, he proposed a scheduling scheme that improved network throughput by allocating multiple non-conflicting channels.

A comparative analysis of print versus electronic

Isc scientometrics system for evaluating research
This document summarizes a study that uses co-word analysis to analyze the conceptual network evolution of cybernetics research in Middle Eastern countries. The study analyzes 2,280 keywords from 705 scholarly records related to cybernetics published in Middle Eastern countries until 2018. The keywords were clustered and mapped to identify 12 conceptual clusters within the field. The largest cluster focused on data mining algorithms. The results show the core issues and most developed areas of research, and can help inform research planning and policymaking regarding cybernetics in the Middle East.
