Timeline of the internet.
The internet started in the 1960s as a way of government researchers to share
information. Computers in the 60s were large and immoible. This eventually led to
the formation of the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), the
network that ultimately evolved into what we now know as the Internet. Today the
internet is used for everything you can think of, commerce, information holders and
communication across the globe.
Electronic devices used by the population.
Statistics show that smartphones have pulled away from laptops to become the most important
device used to access the internet for close to half of the uk accessing the internet. From 2015
to 2018, the volume of data consumed in the UK increased from 7.29 million gigabytes to 211
million gigabytes. 2020 march 6 52% of people use their phone most often and laptop/pcs are
43%.

In 2018, 1.8 billion people worldwide purchased goods online. If this isn’t enough stats show
e-retail sales are going to grow up to $4.8 trillion by 2021. Most bought items by consumers are
fashion items, trips and tourism, tech products, Second-hand sales, Books and music and finally

Voice control is a big thing that’s been improved on devices over the years, to search and text via
speech and even direct your laptop or phone to do a specific action via your voice.
Video content, so people who needs to see things literal and with someone speaking and
showing a tutorial format is so much more accessible on the internet, for example youtube is a
huge place to learn absolutely anything.
Image search is a big tool of the internet, you can make anything via photoshop by getting
images of absolutely anything on the internet you want.
