The document summarizes an article from Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia discussing the potential negative impacts of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) on Muslim-majority countries in Southeast Asia. It argues that the AEC will allow exploitation of these countries' markets and resources by larger economic powers. It claims the AEC will prioritize economic growth over religious and social values, potentially undermining family institutions. The article warns Muslim leaders in Indonesia and Malaysia not to expect economic benefits from the AEC and instead consider it an "imperialist regime" and "cancer" that could harm the Muslim community.
The establishment and implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 is a major milestone in the regional economic integration agenda in ASEAN. it offers opportunities in the form of a huge market of US$2.6 trillion and over 622 million people. In 2014, AEC was collectively the third largest economy in Asia and the seventh largest in the world.
The AEC Blueprint 2025, adopted by the ASEAN Leaders at the 27th ASEAN Summit on 22 November 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, provides broad directions through strategic measures for the AEC from 2016 to 2025. Along with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, and the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint 2025 and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint 2025, the AEC Blueprint 2025 forms part of ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together. It succeeded the AEC Blueprint (2008-2015), which was adopted in 2007.

ASEAN Free Trade Regime is Cancer for the Muslim
Ummah in Southeast Asia!
December 23rd, 2014 by kafi
News:
Muslim countries in Southeast Asia such as
Indonesia and Malaysia will face the
implementation of the ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) on December 31, 2015 – as
a form of regional economic integration in the
region. Through this regional integration,
ASEAN will be transformed into a single market
and production base then become a free flow
of goods, services, investment, labor, and
capital. The leaders of Indonesia and Malaysia are enthusiastic in preparing themselves to
welcome the implementation of AEC and continue to tether their hopes on this agreement.
ASEAN’s commitment to be a free market enhanced through the concept of an ASEAN
Community with its slogan: one vision, one identity, one community. Thus the ASEAN
Economic Community (AEC) became one of the pillars in the formation of the ASEAN
community beside the ASEAN PoliticalSecurity Community (APSC) and the ASEAN Socio
Culture Community (ASCC).

implement it in their lands. This behavior asserts the dysfunction of their role as leaders and
statesmen, who prefer to facilitate international trade and foreign investment rather than
