a. focuses on specific topics and includes relevant facts, and descriptions
b. describes them logically and sequentially
c. usually does not include the writer’s opinions
2. Persuasive/Argumentative
a. contains the biases and opinions of the writer,
b. includes justifications, reasons, and arguments in an effort to convince the reader to agree with the
writer’s opinion.
3. Descriptive
a. similar to expository.
b. explains something to the reader, uses very descriptive language to stimulate five senses (sight,
sound, taste, touch, smell)
c. creates a vivid image for the reader
d. often personal and subjective unlike expository writing, which is typically impersonal or distant
