This study investigates the alkaline phosphatase activity (APA) of microplankton in the Allal El Fassi reservoir in Morocco from March to December 1998. The findings indicate that bacteria contributed significantly to the total APA in the epilimnion, while algal contributions were higher in deeper layers, with no significant correlation between APA and orthophosphate concentrations. Overall, the results suggest that APA is not a reliable indicator of phosphorus deficiency in this reservoir.
