19. CIRCUMFLEX FEMORAL ARTERY
• Form ring around upper Femur
• Lateral Circumflex has 2 branches
– Ascending branch than anastomoses with superior
gluteal artery
– Descending branch to knee
23. SUPERFICIAL FEMORAL ARTERY
• Passes in Adductor Canal
• Between Vastus Med / Adductors / Sartorius
• Through Adductor Hiatus
• At junction of upper 2/3 and lower 1/3 of femur
• Into Popliteal Fossa Popliteal Artery
• Just before this – descending branch to
genicular anastomosis
35. POSTERIOR TIBIAL ARTERY
• Larger of the two
• 2.5cm from its origin Peroneal artery
• Then descends and becomes more medial
• At the ankle
• Medial malleolar branch
• Then passes posterior to medial malleolus
▪ Halfway between tip of malleolus and midline
▪ Branches medial and lateral plantar artery (principal supply of the
foot)
41. DORSALIS PEDIS ARTERY
• Anterior tibial artery passes beneath superior extensor
retinaculum – DORSALIS PEDIS ARTERY
• Its pulsation can be felt on dorsum of foot
42.
43.
44. DORSALIS PEDIS ARTERY
• Dorsalis pedis may give - lateral tarsal artery
• Lateral tarsal and dorsalis pedis make - Arcuate artery
• Arcuate artery - metatarsal and dorsal digital arteries
• *Dorsalis pedis gives a deep branch to join the plantar
arch
47. ARTERIES OF SOLE OF FOOT
• Posterior tibial artery in plantar region gives
Medial and Lateral Plantar Arteries
• Lateral plantar artery makes most part of plantar
arch
• It give rise to
– plantar metatarsal arteries
– proper plantar digital arteries
