Holly Springs High School and the HSHS Fine Arts Boosters are presenting the Student Art Show 2009, created by art teacher Mrs. Lapp. The art show will take place on February 19th as part of Cultural Arts Day, which will feature all of the fine arts programs from Holly Springs High School and surrounding schools. Mrs. Lapp and Mr. Hitesman thank everyone for their support of the visual arts and invite people to attend another student art show in the spring.

Our class enjoys celebrating various holidays together by playing games, exchanging presents, and having fun. Each year the class goes on camping trips to different cities in Bulgaria where they visit local monuments and historical sites. In their free time, the students play together, represent their school in competitions, and enjoy going out for walks. While studying can be serious, breaks are spent socializing, playing games, or getting a snack from the store. During lunch, the class goes outside to talk, listen to music, and play sports like football, basketball, and volleyball before the next lesson.

Traditional Philippine drama evolved from elders telling stories and evolved to incorporate music, costumes and dance. Examples include the Sakuting dance of the south and storytellers of Cordillera. Christian influences led to dramatizing lives of saints. Modern drama emerged from radio/TV and includes telenovelas, fantaseryes and dubbing of foreign shows. Festivals are also important to Filipino culture, with each region celebrating annual fiestas honoring patron saints and showcasing local culture and products.
About Youth in Arts
Youth in Arts is the leading arts education nonprofit in Marin County. It provides professional visual and performing arts instruction to over 17,000 students each year through classroom and afterschool programs. It also puts on live theater, music, and dance performances, as well as an annual Italian Street Painting Festival that attracts over 60,000 people and includes street painting, music, art, and cuisine. Youth in Arts' mission is to provide a balanced education for children that includes the arts.

Dragobete is a traditional lovers' day celebrated in Romania on February 24, ten days after Valentine's Day. According to tradition, young men and women would meet in front of churches and search the woods and meadows for spring flowers. If a boy caught up to the girl he liked and she accepted him, they would kiss in front of the community to show their engagement. The celebration included customs like not sacrificing animals and women gathering snow for beauty treatments. Guinea pigs can live for up to five years, though some have been known to live up to fourteen years, and I have the ability to remember paths to food for several months through grooming and social behaviors like most rodents.

The St. Patrick's Primary School held their annual Art Show in 2007. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade showcased a variety of artworks including paintings, drawings, sculptures and more. The art show was a success in celebrating the creative talents of the students and bringing the school community together.

The Corona-Norco Unified School District held its 3rd Annual High School Art Show, where over 100 students submitted various artworks including paintings, drawings, fashion, sculpture, photography, graphics and videos. Professional artists from the Corona Art Association judged the submissions and awarded prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, Honorable Mention, and Best in Show. An awards ceremony was held at the Corona Public Library on April 24th to present the awards, and all student submissions were on display at the library throughout the month of April.
