To obtain the reason behind the lowered morale, a ten question survey was conducted of existing
employees to understand company strengths as well as areas for needed improvement.
Employees were asked questions such as, do your enjoy working at BIMS, are you paid fairly,
does management treat you well, and do you enjoy your assigned shift (University of Phoenix
Material, 2013) . As a 24 hour operation hypothesis range from employees not working the times
they need, to addressing employee pride in their work that comes along with fair treatment by
managerial staff members and fair compensation for services provided. Debbie Horner, the HR
manager responsible for this survey felt the problem was concentrated in employee motivation and
felt that this was the area that needed most improvement. Possible solutions to this are incentive
competitions, shift changes, and change in managerial approach to individual needs to raise
employee self worth and satisfaction.
Both quantitative and qualitative data was collected from the survey. Using the quantitative data the
Human Resource Manager Debbie Horner posed questions that varied from the numbers one
through five. One was the worst rating and five was the best. Utilizing this data the human resource
manager was enabled to gain a more clear

Guatemala A Developing Country
Guatemala A developing country is an impoverished country that is seeking to become more
advanced economically and socially. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing
country. As one who lives in the United States of America, it often times is hard to understand what
this exactly means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the
same situations that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of
Guatemalans is much different than Americans. Although Guatemalais not succeeding in the
aspects of society or economics, they are in the process of ameliorating. Guatemala is a
particularly large country in South America. The country s terrain is dominated by mountains
with narrow coastal plains, limestone plateaus, and volcanoes and jungles. The current
population of Guatemala is 17,033,253 as of November 2017, according to the latest United
Nations estimates (Guatemala Population (LIVE), 2017). The capital of the country is
Guatemala City. For the past years, the politicians have been extremely corrupt. In 2016, Jimmy
Morales had won the Guatemalan election to become the new president. His campaign slogan
was neither corrupt not a thief . Because the people of Guatemala were beyond ready for a
change in leadership, he won by a landslide. At the start of his term, people loved him and he
seemed to be a great guy. He was a former comedian and not a politician so the people loved him.

The Things They Carried by Tim O’brien
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
Plot:
1.RISING ACTION In the summer of 1968, Tim O Brien receives a draft notice. Despite a desire
to follow his convictions and flee to Canada, he feels he would be embarrassed to refuse to fulfill
his patriotic duty and so concedes to fight in Vietnam.
CLIMAX During their tour of duty, the men of the Alpha Company must cope with the loss of their
own men and the guilt that comes from killing and watching others die.
FALLING ACTION After he returns from war, O Brien grapples with his memories by telling
stories about Vietnam.
2.MAJOR CONFLICT The men of the Alpha Company, especially Tim O Brien, grapple with the
effects both immediate and long term of the Vietnam War.
Characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O Brien gains a new perspective on his experiences in Vietnam when he thinks about how he should
relay the story of the man he killed to his impressionable young daughter.
Kathleen also stands for the gap in communication between one who tells a story and one who
receives a story. When O Brien takes her to Vietnam to have her better understand what he went
through during the war, the only things that resonate to the ten year old are the stink of the muck
and the strangeness of the land. She has no sense of the field s emotional significance to O Brien,
and thus does not understand his behavior there, as when he goes for a swim.
Linda
Linda represents elements of the past that can be brought back through imagination and
storytelling. Linda, a classmate of O Brien s who died of a brain tumor in the fifth grade,
symbolizes O Brien s faith that storytelling is the best way for him to negotiate pain and
confusion, especially the sadness that surrounds death. Linda was O Brien s first love and also his
first experience with death s senseless arbitrariness. His retreat into his daydreams after her funeral
provided him unexpected relief and rationalization. In his dreams, he could see Linda still alive,
which suggests that through imagination which, for O Brien, later evolves into storytelling the
dead can continue to live.
Linda s presence in the story makes O Brien s earlier stories about Vietnam more universal. The

Negligence And The Negligence Tort Essay
Introduction
Negligence is conduct causing damage to another, in breach of the defendant s duty of care owed
to the other (pg 425 Terry and Giugni (8.10).) This definition states the defendant is responsible
towards the plaintiff, if a breach of recognized standard of duty is not adhered to and the plaintiff
suffers an injury as a result. A liability may incur if the resulting injury could have been prevented
or foreseen. The defendants and plaintiffs both have their opinions and views towards the negligence
tort, and it will be looked into further detail in the Jack and Thea Holiday Tour case.
In order to completely understand the liability in negligence, there must be reasonable
foreseeability present which includes three main elements of negligence They are Duty of Care,
Breach of Duty and Remoteness of Damage (pg436 437 (8.220) Terry and Giugni) In addition the
plaintiff must also satisfy the four traditional elements of negligence in order to have a claim; (pg
431 (8.140) Terry and Giugni)
Part A
Duty of care
In the tort of negligence it is important to recall the 1932 House of Lords case, Donoghue v
Stevenson AC 562 (pg. 435 (8.200) Terry and Giugni). The case outlined that duty of care must be
shown towards the other, as if the other does not anticipate the risk, they would potentially suffer
injury or death. According to the law, Priscilla Tours is liable for any maltreatment caused by their
tours towards its customers, hence why Jack and Thea have the

Many of you might be wondering who is currently responsible for leading Beta Zeta. The answer
is really three groups all of which play a critical role in the future of Beta Zeta Chapter. These
groups include: the Purdue Sigma Nu Alumni Association (PSNAA), the Housing Corp, and the
Alumni Advisory Board (AAB). Each group has a clear role, a leader, and several other Beta
Zeta alumni involved (or soon to be involved). These three groups will work closely together in
the next few years and beyond as we work to build a chapter that s stronger than ever. The PSNAA
is responsible for the alumni and is led by the Worthy Commander Michael J. Johnson, BZ 1734.

King Tut s Death Research Paper
King Tutankhamun s death is believed to be of the the most fascinating mysteries in ancient Egypt.
In an attempt to find an answer, plenty of different theories were created to explain how he died. It
is however, believed that his death was caused by leg infection. Some popular theories include
murder (by Ay and Horemheb) and as mentioned, leg infection. The question is, how did King
Tutankhamundie?
Ay was known as King Tut s grand uncle and grandfather and was believed to have murdered King
Tut out of greed. After King Tut s death, he became pharaoh for a few years. Before King Tut
became Pharaoh, Egyptian paintings and hieroglyphs showed Ay held many titles (Acting
Scribe of the King, God s Father, Chief of Archers, etc.) which indicates he was trusted and
respected by him. He was also his close adviser which meant he made most of his decisions for
him along with Horemheb. This murder theory started when a famous Egyptologist (Bob Brier)
discovered a crack in King Tut s skull. This evidence suggests that someone hit him over the head
with a hard object and cracked his skull. Many believe this could only have been done by someone
who had direct access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further evidence suggests that Ay attempted to marry Ankhesenamun (who was already King Tut s
wife) to become pharaoh. This theory was devised when an Egyptologist found a ring in Cairo. The

Coping And Coping Strategies
Coping strategies are specific psychological and behavioral aspects people use to deal with,
master, reduce, minimize, or tolerate the occurrence of a stressful event. One coping strategy is
problem solving, it is an ongoing process in which we take what we know to help us unveil what
we don t know. This method includes overcoming obstacles by developing a hypothesis, testing its
prediction, and coming to a reasonable solution. There are three simple roles that involve problem
solving which consist of making decisions, generating new knowledge, and seeking information.
According to teachervision, problem solving is, and should be, a very real part of the curriculum. It
presupposes that students can take on some of the responsibility for... Show more content on

Women feel more obligated than men to control their emotions, coping is something we all do
either directly or indirectly without even noticing it.
One main reason coping skills are important to people with disabilities because, people with
disabilities are more likely to be bullied than their nondisabled peers. Studies show that students
with disabilities had a two to three ratio of being bullied Students with disabilities are already
struggling academically in the school environment. When bullied it directly has a major effect
on the academic performance. Students with disabilities who do not know how to properly cope
with their stressful environment can end up dropping out, avoiding school and having absences,
decrease grades, inability to focus, and a loss of interest in academic achievement. As we all
know bullying can be censored but it can t be stopped, if and individual can accept who he/she is
as a person and cope with their environment in a positive way it may help them live a normal life.
Moreover, living with a disability can be very difficult especially to those who have acquired a
disability. Disabilities may Impact individuals differently but often those who have grown up with a
congenital disorder cope better, then individuals who have acquired a

Comparing Homer s Iliad With Wolfgang Petersen s Film...
In my response I am going to compare Homer s Iliad with Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy. The
points I am going to compare are the fight between Paris and Menelaus, the role of the gods, the
death of Patroclus and the fight between Hector and Achilles. The Iliad is an epic poem consisting
of 23 books by Homer, which focuses on 50 days in the ninth year of the Trojan War
, whereas the
movie Troy directed by Wolfgang Petersen tells the whole 10 year story of the myth. The Trojan
War happened in the Bronze Age and was a war between the Mycenaean Greece kingdom and the
kingdom of Troy. Homers Iliadis believed to be one of the first works of western literature and was
set 500 years earlier than the time in which he lived. The Iliad is to be listened to, not read,
unless you are the poet performing the epic. The poet would chant or sing the Iliad while being
accompanied by lyre, to help tell the story. It had a set rhythm and metre in each line of the
poem, which the poet had to follow but it is lost in translation as its original written language is
Ancient Greek. The film Troy was released on the 14th May 2004 and is loosely based on the Iliad.
Brad Pitt, who was 40 years old during the making of this movie, and stars as Achilles. The ending
of the film is not from the Iliad but from Virgil s Aeneid, as the Iliad ends with Hectors death and
funeral.
The Role of the Gods
Throughout the Iliad, gods play an important role and are a focal point. They are always helping

The Importance Of Being Knocked Down
I believe it s okay to be knocked down, just make sure you fight your way back up and rise
stronger than before. I think in this world many people are ashamed to be knocked down, but it
doesn t matter if you get knocked down, it matters that you rise back up. There is a quote saying
It s ok if you fall down and lose your spark. Just make sure that when you get back up, you rise as
the whole damn fire Colette Werden. This quotes states that it s okay if you get knocked down,
but make sure that when you rise back up, you rise stronger than you have ever been. I like this
quote because I find that many people just get knocked down and stay down, never trying to fight
their way back up which should stop because even if you get knocked down, you have the choice
to fight your way back or live with the consequences. Just like if you don t make the... Show more

It was the scariest and most stressful tryout of my soccer career. I worked my butt off trying to
impress the coaches, hoping that I would make the team. But once the teams came out and I
found out that I didn t make the team; rivers started flowing out of my eyes and a wave of
sadness and despair rolled over me as it crush my dreams of playing on that team. I was the
saddest person on earth. My hope started to fade away slowly very day until I wanted to quit

Why The Luxembourgish Economy Is Too Dependent On The...
Only a few OECD countries, if any, are as dependent to such an extent on one single branch of
activities as Luxembourg is on its financial services industry. Since years it has been the principal
growth engine of the economy. It is not only fuelling employment, but also activities linked to
corporate services. In the last decade, the dynamism of fiscal revenues coming from the sector
contributed to financing the expansion of the public sector and a solid short term budget situation
has been realised (OECD, 2008, p.52). This Thesis will examine the question whether the
Luxembourgish economy is too dependent on the financial services industry. Furthermore, it is
going to measure the contribution coming from the sector to the national economy. The objective is
to find out to what extend the economy depends on the financial sector. To reach this, this Thesis
will first give an overview of the Luxembourgish economy and analyse its international
competitiveness. Then, it is going to explain how the country evolved to becoming a financial
centre and it is describing the financial centre we can see today. After being well informed about the
economy and the financial services industry, the research is going to measure the direct impact on
the economy coming from the industry, in terms of contribution to GDP, to national employment,
to fiscal revenues, to national production and to the trade balance. Finally, the conclusions based on
the results obtained will give an answer to the

M1 Unit 1 Analysis
Unit 1 Assessment Transformation is a dramatic change in form that signals excitement, momentum
and opportunity for something to go wrong. My house went through transformation that was
terrifying and shocking to my family. The night after Christmas and our house caught on fire. There
are many stories meant to scare us, but how did they use transformation to elicit fearin the reader?
Many stories use transformation in humans, objects, and settings to elicit fear. Reading these
stories is frightening when you become engaged in the characters and setting. Transformation in
human emotions can create fear because we become captivated in the characters feelings. In The
Fall of the House of Usher, the narrator, Roderick, and Madeline transform. The narrator notices
increasing madness of Usher as his skin grows whiter, his normal routine was forgotten, and he
roamed through the house or stared into space for hours. The Narrator is frightened because he
believes he is beginning to feel infected by Usher s condition. The Narrator fears that he too may
be going mad. These feelings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this unit stories acquire houses transforming. The story House Taken Over contains mystery as
a stranger walks in and creates an evil and uncertain atmosphere. The stranger explains that it was
always dark in the house when he lived there. After the stranger left, the house began to transform
into what the stranger described. The living room lights flickered, the wallpaper seemed drained
of color, and the carpet fading...The door frame had receded an inch or two. The house
transforming elicits fear because we don t feel comfortable when the house start to change
especially after a strange man entered with peculiar requests. In The Fall of the House of Usher the
house also transforms when the house implodes on itself and creates a dark mood. These houses
transformation frightens us as they create dark and disturbing

Fivers In Watership Down
Fivers Evolution
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Quote from Frederick Douglass. This quote was
emphasized greatly throughout the novel Watership Down, by Richard Adams. Fiver, a dynamic
character, is small and timid, but only because he sees far ahead of what most rabbits see. He
knows that something bad will happen to the rabbit s home. Fiver guides the group through their
travels, although it is indirect through his brother Hazel because he is not someone that the pack
would exactly look up to since he is small and timid. Plus, they are only leaving their warren
because of a bad instinct that Fiver has about it. At the beginning of the novel Fiver is a timid
rabbit, but throughout the book he begins to change into a confident ... Show more content on

The rabbits became strange in many ways, different from other rabbits. They knew well enough
what was happening. But even to themselves they pretended that all was well, for the food was
good, they were protected, they had nothing to fear but the one fear; and that struck here and
there, never enough at a time to drive them away. They forgot the ways of wild rabbits. They
forgot El ahrairah, for what use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy s warren and
paying his price? (116). I was surprised that Fiver s instincts are actually right. In this quote
Fiver is explaining how the warren they joined was a bad place and he finally figured it out.
Now, his group trusts him and respects his instincts. Do? replied Fiber. Why, go now. I told
Cowslip we were going before I left the burrow. (117). As you can tell, Fiver has confidence now.
Before, he would not even try to boss the group around and if he did they would not listen. But,
now that they know that he was right about his instincts, they are willing to trust him as a leader.
As the novel progresses, Fiver gains confidence when his feelings are vital to the group s

Strategic Action Disney On Consumer Focused Initiative Essay

Disney took in terms of consumer focused initiative? Give examples. (15 marks) In 1992, Euro
Disney was launched in Paris. This project unexpectedly received undesirable feedback from its
target market since the company wrongly assumed that it would be easily accepted by the Western
European market. Disney received criticisms and negative publicity as they were thought to have
brought American imperialism into Europe and the French government acquired farmland just to
create the theme park which resulted to protests from the French farmers. Cultural issues also arose
as most of its employees did not accept well the management style and the dress code, the customers
were not satisfied with the language used in the theme park, with the ban of alcohol consumption,
the pricing of tickets and merchandise, etc. The company learned that they had to be aware and
have a full understanding of the culture of their host nation and apply it to the operations of the
theme park; and this is the main strategic action that they had to pursue in order to capture the
desires and interest of their customers. As a result, Euro Disney was changed to Paris Disneyland to
strengthen the identity and nationalism of the theme park in relation with its host nation, France,
and in turn the French were

Happy Gilmore Character Analysis
Happy Gilmore is a comedic 90 s movie about the transition from an ineffective hockey player to
a talented golfer. This is a 1996 film, Adam Sandler, who portrays Happy Gilmore faces few
obstacles when learning how to play golf. The reason why he joins a golf tournament was that he
needed the money to save his grandmother s house. His grandmother has not pay taxes for past 10
years so she owed $270,00 otherwise her home would be lost. Happy Gilmoreis a naГЇve and
absurd character that struggles with anger issues but later learns how to deal with it through dumb
childish humor. Throughout the golftournament, he has a nemesis, Shooter Mcgavin, who is
arrogant that gets jealous at Happy Gilmore for his hidden talent at golf. Although Gilmore has
serious anger issues, his patience and dedication teach the audience that one s passion is not always
something one is good at.
One of the eye catching concepts that are hard to miss is Happy s aggression in sports. He is either
yelling, cursing, fighting or attacking someone throughout this film. At the beginning of the film
when he was trying out for the hockey team, there is a scene where he loses his temper. He didn t
make the team so he attacked the coach for being cut. Then there is the scene when he is mad at
his girlfriend so he yells at her but then changes to innocent sad boyfriend voice and just kept
switching off between those two personas. This was very interesting to watch because he was two

moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three
men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the
woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise
and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing
it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her
movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different
ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out
his substance from his body while he dies in her arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close
my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it
that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone

I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay
Introduction
My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular
and extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my
potential. In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from
colleagues over the last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and
weaknesses, and work style and leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self
assessment analysis based upon qualitative and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences
and exercises during this semester. I have identified three broad themes that incorporate several
subthemes representing my current abilities, preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix
1). Further, I have developed my action plan for the next semester to enhance my strengths and
learn new skills, which are critical for my future career growth, to overcome my weaknesses.
Self assessment
Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented
Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always
action and performance oriented. My print assessment shows that generally I am not fond of
exhaustive planning or grueling analysis; I prefer things moving forward. I am spontaneous and
able to take risks. In addition, my self confidence has a calming effect on others while at the same
time mobilizing them to take action ( Paul Hertz Group | PRINT Survey | Unconscious

Napoleon Bonaparte and The French Revolution
Napoleon and The French revolution Napoleon Bonaparte was a visionary to some, and a ruthless
ruler to others. The purpose of the French revolution was to free the oppressed and stop the
bloodshed that was occurring in
France. The real question is whether Napoleon was the legitimate heir to the visions of the
French revolution. Napoleon was in essence a very powerful man that took control of France but
threw out many of the ideals of the French Revolution. His actions during his takeover where more
than enough to prove that he did not intend to let France live through the old beliefs of the
French revolution. During his time in power Napoleon reestablished a French aristocracy
(eliminated in the French revolution) and began handing out tittles of nobility (His reign,
History, no page.) This affected the way France governed itself again even after the French
Revolution.

Evaluating Course Quality And Faculty Teaching
Evaluating Course Quality and Faculty Teaching
Evaluating courses are important for ensuring that the student s educational needs are being met.
Furthermore, it ensures the education being provided aligns with the institution s mission, goals
and policy. Students, peer faculty members, and administrators all play significant roles in the
evaluation process. The course I chose to evaluate is an online, undergraduate, and didactic course.
Three different evaluation tools are discussed that assesses faculty teaching, student satisfaction,

( Midterm Student Feedback, n.d.). Survey methods are the most popular methods for evaluating
MSF.
The IDEA model is another evaluation resource. It also utilizes a student rating system for allowing
students to evaluate instructor teaching and student satisfaction with the course. Research states
that students tend to have higher exam scores, can apply the material better and are more apt to
pursue the subject subsequently, when they learn from instructors with high ratings. (Benton and
Cashin, 2012). Furthermore, improving student satisfaction. The IDEA survey evaluates six
different factors commonly found on student rating evaluation forms. Overall, students find that
course organization and planning, clarity and communication skills, teacher/student interaction and
rapport, course difficulty and workload, grading and examinations, and student self rated learning
are all essential components to improving satisfaction with the instructor and course. (Benton and
Cashin, 2012). Traditionally, in the live classroom setting, administrators or peer evaluators could
pay a scheduled or unscheduled visit to the classroom and began the evaluation process. The
advantage was observing the instructor in real time and the interaction with students. Well, with the
recent shift of live classrooms becoming more distance accessible online courses, this process is
similar but executed differently. Other elements are considered when

Three Reasons For The Allies s Success In The Invasion
D Day was a major event in history and there are lots of reasons why the Allies had success in the
invasion. In this essay I will focus on three reasons I believe to be the most significant to victory.
Those reasons are Air Supremacy, Unique and adapted tanks and Operation Fortitude South. D Day
tanks were specialised to fit the environment of Normandy while still being effective in combat. Air
Supremacy was crucial to distract the Germans with the gliders, paratroopers, bombers, and fake
dummies. Operation Fortitude South was a massive and successful deception plan to confuse the
German into thinking the invasion would come at the narrowest part of the channel.
Air Supremacy was crucial for supporting the invasion and confusing the germans. It was something
the Allies needed to have a successful invasion. Before dawn on the 6th of June 1944, paratroopers
and gliders were deployed inland above Normandy. Only a few hours later the beach landings
arrived which totally confused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a deception plan that was part of a bigger Operation called Operation Bodyguard, containing
many different deception plans. Fortitude South was commanded by General Bernard Montgomery
and the 21st Army group. Being commanded by such an important general, the Nazis fell for the
rouse and fortified the area around Calais. Within Fortitude there were makeshift planes, inflatable
tanks and artillery as well as fake equipment. The Germans took the bait mostly because Fortitude
was located around the narrowest part of the channel where it would be the easiest place of all to
invade from. The Nazis actually thought at first that the preparation for the actual invasion was

All of these attacks and attempts and actions were addressed through the existing criminal
justice system. Under that legal architecture, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and Title

foreign and domestic agencies was dedicated by a strict set of rules that was interpreted as

Pain And Treatment Of Pain
Pain
Pain can be defined in three different forms. The initial and the minimal contact with the damaging
stimuli can be described as the warning for the physiological protective system. This initial stage is
called the nociceptive pain. The warning system demands immediate response and causes
immediate withdrawal from the painful or damaging stimulus (Woolf 1).Second type of pain is
called inflammatory pain, this type of pain activates when the person feels the pain and it is
necessary to heal the injured tissues. Pain tenderness and hypersensitivity reduces future risk for
the damage and side by side promotes recovery (Woolf 1).The third and last type of pain is not
protective in fact it is maladaptive. This is known as pathological pain. ... Show more content on

According to Woolf the mind also perceive false signals for pain (Woolf 1). The feeling of pain is
essential for survival. Pain is the first indicator of any tissue injury. Any stimulus that results in
injury or wound leads to a sensation of pain, heat, cold, the pressure, the electric current, the
chemical irritants and even the sudden movements. Unlike other sensory systems, however, the
sensory system to the pain is extremely broad; a painful sensation can be started in any part of the
body or the central nervous system (CNS). Various locations are paired to various kinds of
sensations of pain (Fields 10). Your perception is clearly a rich and multidimensional experience,
which varies so much in quality as in sensory intensity, as well as in their affective motivational
characteristics. Without doubt, the feeling of pain is an important field domain of human
experience and perhaps that you have, continuously and with more success, eluded numerous
attempts at conceptualization consistent quantification, or even systematic documentation, for
generations of specialists of different areas of knowledge. Its complexity and multidimensional
nature, which are evident even in the elementary analysis of the various types of pain, have
virtually blocked the development of an adequate definition of pain that is the more important,
hampered the construction of a General theory of the pain, as well as the

different men. The uprising of Hughes s poems are the result of their hardships that many people of

What Langston Hughes Powerful Poem I, Too Tells Us About America s Past and Present
David C. Ward, a writer for the Smithsonian and historian, writes the lens of the African American
experience through the eyes of Langston Hughes s poem I, Too. He states that this poem embodies
that history at a particular point in the early 20th century when Jim Crow laws and other racial
segregations were heavily influenced. From the build up of lack of importance becomes a larger
notice of the presence that Langston Hughes brings. Ward brings the title into play when referring
to the secondary relationship that Hughes brings into play. It suddenly shifts the terrain to someone
who is secondary, subordinate, even, inferior. David Ward States. The African American lens that
Ward notices largely in Hughes s writing is that he speaks for the second class, also known as, the
ones who are excluded. The multi dimensional pun in the title are not only close and open the
poem, but fill the drama the poem portrays for the struggle of the African Americans. From moving
out of sight, eating in the kitchen, and then taking their place at the dining room table co equal with
the company that is dining. Ward includes the evolution of the message Hughes presents through
his poem.

Defense, Necessity Defense And Affirmative Defense
According to the United States constitution every American Citizen is entitled to a trial and an
attorney. With the right to a trial and an attorney those accused also have a right to bring up a
defense in justifying or excusing their actions. In this essay I will be looking at defenses such as
self defense, necessity defense and affirmative defense. This essay will serve as a guide to what
these defenses really mean and when it is acceptable to use them. A defense is when a defendant
and his or her attorney provide evidence on why they should not be held accountable for the
crime they have ben accused. The purpose of a defense is so a person won t be held responsible
for the crimes they have committed. There are two kinds of defenses a factual defense and a
legal defense. A factual defense is when a defended simply states that they didn t commit the
crime, such as providing an alibi. Where as a legal defense a defendant may have committed the
crime but should face no legal liability. There are two kinds of legal defense justifications and
excuses. An Affirmative defense is when a defendant provides evidence, which can influence the
legal responsibility the defendant will be held responsible for, even if the defendant committed the
crime in question. An affirmative defense may completely exonerate a defendant but it may also
just lower the charges brought against the defended. For example a person who is charged with
first degree murder can be found not guilty using

One very important editing technique Burton uses in his films is flashbacks. Burton uses
flashbacks in order to build structure for the mood and feelings of the audience. An example of
a flashback is in the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Burton uses flashbacks in the
beginning of the film in order to educate the viewer about the connection and relations that the
Bucket family has had with Wonka and his factory. The flashbacks showed Grandpa Joe
working for Wonka before the terrible tragedy that is the closing of the factory. The flashbacks
educates you about how Wonka treated his workers, the amazing things he did, and how the
factory shut down. After viewing, you start to feel sad for Wanaka because Grandpa Joe
described him as a great and marvelous man with incredible ideas and inventions, but jealousy
got to the competitors forcing them to steal ideas and inventions Wonka created, forcing him to
shut down the factory. Burton also uses flashbacks to build structure for the mood and feelings
of the audience in the film Big Fish. He uses flashbacks to give you a glimpse of the relationship

adventures. They explained all the stories that will was told and gave you a clue on what the
relationship between them was like. A lot of what Edward said was true and because of that, the

Isotopes
Naturally occurring tungsten consists of five isotopes whose half lives are so long that they can
be considered stable. Theoretically, all five can decay into isotopes of element 72 by alpha
emission, but only 180W has been observed to do so with a half life of Г—1018 years; on average,
this yields about two alpha decays of 180W in one gram of natural tungsten per year. The other
naturally occurring isotopes have not been observed to decay, constraining their half lives to be:
Another 30 artificial radioisotopes of tungsten have been characterized, the most stable of which
are 181W with a half life of 121.2 days, 185W with a half life of 75.1 days, 188W with a half life of

Both Perikles Funeral Oration and the Athenian Constitution of Pseudo Xenophon have similarities

Constitution of the Old Oligarch, depicts Athens in a dramatized worst possible light. The two
documents tend to use the same examples to make opposing points, a demonstration on how
evidence can be twisted to fit a claim. Both documents discuss the leisure activities and luxuries of
the Athenians, and use this concept to prove their opposing points. Perikles says and we have not

Turn Taking Management for Multimodal Dialogue Systems
Introduction
Natural dialogue involves the management of many communicative resources in a complex
activity. Participants in a conversation transmit information, agree and disagree between each other,
monitor the communicative status of their messages, make decisions about non linguistic actions
and, among other things, they deal with social conventions about who is to talk and when.
Conversations are joint actions in which participants individually perform coordinated activities
(Clark, 1996). It is quite illustrative the metaphor proposed by Clark about dialoguing as dancing
waltz. Each individual action is coordinated in a choreographic way with the actions of the other
person. How and when to talk is learned since childhood, it is known that face to face conversation
is the matrix of language acquisition. It is common to listen parents telling to kids when is
expected from them to talk (for instance, they motivate responses if a question, an order or a
hello was expressed, they show when is expected to say thank you or you are welcome ). For the
last twenty years, various efforts have sprung from the interest to develop annotation models that
reflect the diverse ways in which participants behaviors contribute to conversation (Ahrenberg, et
al., 1995; HCRC, Carletta, et al., 1996; DAMSL, Allen Core, 1997). These tagging schemes are
based on dialogue act annotation. They differ from each other in the

When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too
excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of
gasses that form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents
any heat from escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released
from the earth s center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the
atmosphere. The trapped heat has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has
subsequently had adverse effects on the ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature
that have occurred on a global scale over time can lead to significant and human threatening
changes in the global weather patterns. The contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting
ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods and famines. Driving forces of this climatic
change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas accumulation to the human activities using
fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and
other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise since the industrial revolution shows a
significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic gasses from human activity
(Lonnie, 153).

referred as Juche, this ideology is harmful to people because most people would like to praise
people who do good things, but in North Korea people have to pray to a dictator who is capable of

(Juche Religion)
Kim Il Sung created this dangerous belief system so that North Koreans would always obey
him. Before Dictatorship North Korea was an independent nation, it was a colony full of
Christians. Kim Il Sung noticed how Christians worshipped the Japanese ruler who ruled Korea.
When North Korea declared as a country, Kim Il Sung changed the form of Christianity and he
declared himself as a God so that North Korea will always praise and pray him. Christians
revolted against this, so Kim Il Sung annihilated most of them because he did not want his own
people suspecting him of Juche and put lots of people in concentration camps and they still
reside there. (Juche Religion) Juche originated from Marxism Leninism. Marxism Leninism was
created by Karl Marx, some of the main points in this ideology are that a communist party should
be able to perform and play major roles in society. Some other beliefs in Marxism Leninism are
that modern capitalism should turn into imperialism. (Piskunov) North Korea gained inspiration
from Marxism Leninism, which is why this ideology is one of the main ideologies that Juche
originated. Some other ideologies that Juche originated were Confucianism. Confucianism was
developed in China by a man named Kong Qiu (Confucius). Kong Qiu travelled across the country
to spread his teachings, but at that time his beliefs was not popular and some of his beliefs were
how to do the right things in life. He

Native American Melting Pot
In America, there is a term we use to define the U.S. population, which is, The Melting pot. The
integration of lifestyles, cultures, and beliefs in this metaphorical melting pot, has been simmering
since the early 1500 s. Spanish settlers migrated to new worlds determined to claim land promised
to them by the Crown of Spain. Although, consequently, the natives had not realized that their way
of life and all that it entails, would become among the first ingredients in the pot of U.S. history.
Despite integration beginning with the emigrant settlers, they considered indigenous natives to be
savage, second class citizens on their own soil. In comparison to the superior standards of Spanish
customs, protecting these very ideologies of superiority against the Native Americans happened
peacefully, or by forcefully. The natives were simply out matched in arms, against Anglo
Americans, which is why the legacy of Hispanidad remains disparaged and vague. Therefore,
whitewashed accounts of U.S. history must be revised to include Latino contributions, factors, and
influences on the development of the United Statesof America, and not just ethnically.... Show more

One such example is the city of San Antonio, named for Saint Anthony de Padua. Ironically, he is
considered the patron saint of lost things which is exactly what befell the natives of this land.
Devastatingly, the loss of land, people, and dignity suffered by the Natives Americans could now
pray to this Saint brought before them by the foreign settlers. However, an economic revolution 1
emerged as the European plants and animals successfully acclimated to their new home.
Furthermore, some key factors also helped in shaping the history of Mexican

Native American Boarding Schools During the Westward Expansion
People know about the conflict between the Indian s cultures and the settler s cultures during the
westward expansion. Many people know the fierce battles and melees between the Indians and the
settlers that were born from this cultural conflict. In spite of this, many people may not know about
the systematic and deliberate means employed by the U.S. government to permanently rid their
new land of the Indians who had lived their own lives peacefully for many years. There are many
strong and chilling reasons and causes as to why the settlers started all of this perplexity in the first
place. There was also a very strong and threatening impact on the Native Americans... Show more

These native peoples, first mislabeled as Indians by an explorer named Christopher Columbus,
divided themselves into many different tribes, each with its own government, language, traditions
and religions. Europeans, who slowly poured into the Indian s land, did not respect the Indians
beliefs, interrupted their peaceful life and would do almost anything to get the land to them selves.
The settlers also believed the land that both the Indians and the settlers lived on was theirs to
themselves. They began to push the Native Americans off of their own land. Many of them fought
back to keep their homes, some succeeded, some didn t.
By the 1800 s most of the Native Americans signed a treaty with the European American
government. The results left the Native Americans on small pieces of land called reservations in
exchange for their land and peace. The European Americans promised that they would give the
Indians living on the reservations food, water, money and education for the children. Most of these
promises were not kept.
White man s schooling of the Native Americans helped cause the disintegration of the beliefs,
customs and ways of life of the natives residents of Turtle Island . One of the sources that helped
their culture vanish, not completely, were the Native American boarding schools. The boarding
schools put the Native Americans through so much pain,

Misandry Feminism
Feminism. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly,
hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than
every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If
they took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminismand misandry are two very
different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is
the equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can
understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue
between men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as
misandrists. Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about
feminism comes from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender
equality. To achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is
still relevant today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. Ever since the Seneca Falls
Convention in 1848, the first convention for women s rights in the Unites States, feminism has
become an essential movement that our world needs to progress. This convention was a movement
that was organized by two abolitionists who met at the 1840 World Anti Slavery Convention in
London, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady

The Work of Frida Kahlo Essay
The work of Frida Kahlo often labeled and defined as feminist art continues to describe and
establish what feminist art is. Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida
struggled to become an artist in her own right. Her extremely passionate love for and devotion to
her husband manifested itself in an unusual manner in their already unconventional and unique
marriage. However it is partly this obsession with Diegothat helped motivate her own successas a
feminist artist. Her passionate political and revolutionary spirit resonates in the subjects of her
paintings as she herself states, I want my work to be a contribution to the struggle of the people
for peace and liberty. (Herrera p.263). She confronts her pain... Show more content on

She presents herself as proud, dignified, confident and as always, extremely desirable and
irresistible.
Reserved, poised and confident, Frida demands immediate attention and respect from her
audience as she stands with purpose on a hardwood stage, curtains drawn held back by thick yet
elegant rope. Her peach colored skirt with elegant embroidered flowers and the saturated, deep
red blouse peaking from under an astonishing golden yellow shawl which drapes over the entire
costume all indicate a distinguished, colonial member of the bourgeois high society. The rich
red and golden hues of her clothing are complemented and emphasized by the palate of color
Frida has chosen for her background which resonates from a deep green to a golden sun like
tone. She has replaced her usual and typical exuberant and bright native dress with a more refined
version of the characteristic long skirt and jewelry to decorate herself. The aristocratic Frida
reinforces her intended highly distinguished image with the intricately woven red ribbon in her
impetuously braided hair which is further complemented by the purple flower carefully tucked into
her braid. The hair with the ribbon and flower is indicative of indigenous heritage and culture,
neither which ever to be excluded or denied by Kahlo. The brazen carnality of the many self
portraits that wold soon follow in a burst of creativity

The Rise Of Terrorism
Since 2001, the American society as we know it has changed dramatically. The rise of terrorism
on the homefront has caused us to change how the government interacts with its citizens. The rise
of secrecy and the loss of privacy has come as a response to these actions and we see no end to it.
September 11th, 2001, caused the government to step back from the idea of transparency and
take a look at its own citizens as possible threats to national security. If one were to take a
Bayesian inference following the events of 911, the governmental response could have been
seen as inevitable. The national security of the hegemonic state of the world had become
vulnerable, and a strong response was needed. Seemingly all aspects of our lives have been effected
from the way we go about our day to day activities, to the way we travel. The idea of privacy was
one of the first to come into question. How can you accurately defend yourselves from ... Show

When challenging the idea of terrorism, especially in the aspect of homegrown terrorism, the
government made its spending and its agencies more secretive than they had been during the cold
war. The 1974 Freedom of Information Act now seemed to be a distant memory, beyond secrecy in
the agencies and spending there was now a secret geography to the US and international world.
Now that the war on terrorism is an international crisis, more so than the war on terror we
launched after 911, what the American government felt like it needed to do to protect our
security seems like an over extension of our power and a threat to the values we hold as a free
country. The launching of the new secretive side to the US government seems like a valid
response to the events of 911, and other terrorist acts, but have taken an extreme toll on how we
feel about big government and our

Impact Of The Great San Francisco Earthquake
Great San Francisco Earthquake
On April 18, 1906, at 5:12 am over 400 thousand lives were forever changed, due to the San
Francisco Earthquake. The 7.7 7.9 magnitude earthquake only lasted for a minute, however, the
impact was incredible. The earthquake ignited several fires that spread throughout San Francisco
and lasted for three days.
Tectonic plates make up the outermost shell of the Earth and have been moving in relation to each
other for hundreds of millions of years. Two tectonic plates, North American Plate and Pacific
Plate, meet in Western California. The boundary between these plates is a zone of faults. One of
these faults is called the San Andreas fault, which is a transform plate boundary. This means the
motion between the two relative plates is mainly horizontal. At 5:12 am, the Pacific Plate slid
horizontally north west in relation to the North American Plate, causing the earthquake along the
San Andreas fault and associated faults.1 Contemporary geologists were amazed and bewildered
with the size of the horizontal tectonic movements and the large rupture length (477km).2
The San Francisco Earthquake had a highly significant impact on the surrounding environment. The
overwhelming total death count for the earthquake and fires is estimated to be 3 thousand people.
In addition, the earthquake left 250 thousand residents homeless and destroyed 28 thousand
building.3 The tremors of the earthquake destroyed San Francisco s water mains, resulting in the

Developing Mental Toughness In Professional Sports
Over the years I have had the opportunity to coach many players and one thing I can tell you
without reservation is the best players were all mentally tough. It s a hard concept to explain until
you see it, but it s obvious when you see a player that has it.
To clarify my point, not all of the best athletes have it. No every big league player is mentally tough
and there are plenty that never make it to the big leagues that have great mental toughness. It s not
about ability, I ve coached many great athletes that didn t have a clue about being mentally tough
and would fold under pressure. They could perform well when there was nothing on the line, but
when the game was in balance, or the competition was tough, they usually failed. On the other hand,

But over time and with careful training, the mental toughness of skilled players comes to light in
championships won. Developing Mental Toughness
To become mentally tough one must practice attributes that lead to mental toughness. I wish there
were a formula to follow, but there is not. It takes time and patience under the right leadership to
develop mental toughness. Parents, educators, coaches, and other mentors must be systematically
involved in the training process. Also, it takes failure and the ability to bounce back. Many
people develop mental toughness through the experience of failure. Good parents do not want
their children to fail and I understand that. But today, too many blame others for the failure.
Parents are quick to blame the teacher for problems in class or a coach when the child is not
excelling in an activity. Mental toughness can not be developed properly when blaming others. In
fact, the opposite is the case. Here are a couple of

Disadvantages Of Geothermal Power
What is Geothermal Energy?
Geothermal energy is to a more or less
extent, extracting power/energy from Earth s internal thermal heat.
How do Geothermal Power Plants Produce Energy?
To produce electricity/energy, wells are
dug a mile or so deep into underground reservoirs. They tap steam and hot water which drives
turbines that are connected to electricity generators.
What Are The Different Types of Geothermal PowerPlants?
There are three types of geothermal power plants: binary, flash, and dry steam.
In binary geothermal power plants they use hot water and pass it by a secondary fluid, this fluid as
a lower boiling point, causing the secondary fluid to become a steam that drives the turbine.
In flash geothermal power plants they use steam made by rom pulling high pressure hot water into
cooler low pressure water. They then use the steam to drive the turbines.
Finally, in dry steam geothermal power plants they also use steam, but get the stream from out of
fractures in the surface and used it to drive the turbine directly. It is one of the oldest forms of
harnessing geothermal energy.
Benefits and Disadvantages of Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy has many benefits here are a few. Geothermal can be extracted without burning
a fossil fuel. Most geothermal power plants in the future will be binary geothermal power plants,
these types of power plants do not create

To obtain the reason behind the lowered morale, a ten question survey was conducted of existing employees to understand company strengths as well as areas for needed improvement. Employees were asked questions such as, do your enjoy working at BIMS, are you paid fairly, does management treat you well, and do you enjoy your assigned shift (University of Phoenix Material, 2013) . As a 24 hour operation hypothesis range from employees not working the times they need, to addressing employee pride in their work that comes along with fair treatment by managerial staff members and fair compensation for services provided. Debbie Horner, the HR manager responsible for this survey felt the problem was concentrated in employee motivation and felt that this was the area that needed most improvement. Possible solutions to this are incentive competitions, shift changes, and change in managerial approach to individual needs to raise employee self worth and satisfaction. Both quantitative and qualitative data was collected from the survey. Using the quantitative data the Human Resource Manager Debbie Horner posed questions that varied from the numbers one through five. One was the worst rating and five was the best. • 3. Guatemala A Developing Country Guatemala A developing country is an impoverished country that is seeking to become more advanced economically and socially. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing country. As one who lives in the United States of America, it often times is hard to understand what this exactly means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the same situations that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of Guatemalans is much different than Americans. Although Guatemalais not succeeding in the aspects of society or economics, they are in the process of ameliorating. Guatemala is a particularly large country in South America. The country s terrain is dominated by mountains with narrow coastal plains, limestone plateaus, and volcanoes and jungles. The current population of Guatemala is 17,033,253 as of November 2017, according to the latest United Nations estimates (Guatemala Population (LIVE), 2017). The capital of the country is Guatemala City. For the past years, the politicians have been extremely corrupt. In 2016, Jimmy Morales had won the Guatemalan election to become the new president. His campaign slogan was neither corrupt not a thief . Because the people of Guatemala were beyond ready for a change in leadership, he won by a landslide. At the start of his term, people loved him and he seemed to be a great guy. He was a former comedian and not a politician so the people loved him. Unfortunately, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite a desire to follow his convictions and flee to Canada, he feels he would be embarrassed to refuse to fulfill his patriotic duty and so concedes to fight in Vietnam. CLIMAX During their tour of duty, the men of the Alpha Company must cope with the loss of their own men and the guilt that comes from killing and watching others die. FALLING ACTION After he returns from war, O Brien grapples with his memories by telling stories about Vietnam. 2.MAJOR CONFLICT The men of the Alpha Company, especially Tim O Brien, grapple with the effects both immediate and long term of the Vietnam War. O Brien gains a new perspective on his experiences in Vietnam when he thinks about how he should relay the story of the man he killed to his impressionable young daughter. Kathleen also stands for the gap in communication between one who tells a story and one who receives a story. When O Brien takes her to Vietnam to have her better understand what he went through during the war, the only things that resonate to the ten year old are the stink of the muck and the strangeness of the land. She has no sense of the field s emotional significance to O Brien, and thus does not understand his behavior there, as when he goes for a swim. Linda Linda represents elements of the past that can be brought back through imagination and storytelling. Linda, a classmate of O Brien s who died of a brain tumor in the fifth grade, symbolizes O Brien s faith that storytelling is the best way for him to negotiate pain and confusion, especially the sadness that surrounds death. Linda was O Brien s first love and also his first experience with death s senseless arbitrariness. His retreat into his daydreams after her funeral provided him unexpected relief and rationalization. In his dreams, he could see Linda still alive, which suggests that through imagination which, for O Brien, later evolves into storytelling the dead can continue to live. Linda s presence in the story makes O Brien s earlier stories about Vietnam more universal. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Negligence And The Negligence Tort Essay Introduction Negligence is conduct causing damage to another, in breach of the defendant s duty of care owed to the other (pg 425 Terry and Giugni (8.10).) This definition states the defendant is responsible towards the plaintiff, if a breach of recognized standard of duty is not adhered to and the plaintiff suffers an injury as a result. A liability may incur if the resulting injury could have been prevented or foreseen. The defendants and plaintiffs both have their opinions and views towards the negligence tort, and it will be looked into further detail in the Jack and Thea Holiday Tour case. In order to completely understand the liability in negligence, there must be reasonable foreseeability present which includes three main elements of negligence They are Duty of Care, Breach of Duty and Remoteness of Damage (pg436 437 (8.220) Terry and Giugni) In addition the plaintiff must also satisfy the four traditional elements of negligence in order to have a claim; (pg 431 (8.140) Terry and Giugni) Part A Duty of care In the tort of negligence it is important to recall the 1932 House of Lords case, Donoghue v Stevenson AC 562 (pg. 435 (8.200) Terry and Giugni). The case outlined that duty of care must be shown towards the other, as if the other does not anticipate the risk, they would potentially suffer injury or death. According to the law, Priscilla Tours is liable for any maltreatment caused by their tours towards its customers, hence why Jack and Thea have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. King Tut s Death Research Paper King Tutankhamun s death is believed to be of the the most fascinating mysteries in ancient Egypt. In an attempt to find an answer, plenty of different theories were created to explain how he died. It is however, believed that his death was caused by leg infection. Some popular theories include murder (by Ay and Horemheb) and as mentioned, leg infection. The question is, how did King Tutankhamundie? Ay was known as King Tut s grand uncle and grandfather and was believed to have murdered King Tut out of greed. After King Tut s death, he became pharaoh for a few years. Before King Tut became Pharaoh, Egyptian paintings and hieroglyphs showed Ay held many titles (Acting Scribe of the King, God s Father, Chief of Archers, etc.) which indicates he was trusted and respected by him. He was also his close adviser which meant he made most of his decisions for him along with Horemheb. This murder theory started when a famous Egyptologist (Bob Brier) discovered a crack in King Tut s skull. This evidence suggests that someone hit him over the head with a hard object and cracked his skull. Many believe this could only have been done by someone who had direct access ... • 8. Coping And Coping Strategies Coping strategies are specific psychological and behavioral aspects people use to deal with, master, reduce, minimize, or tolerate the occurrence of a stressful event. One coping strategy is problem solving, it is an ongoing process in which we take what we know to help us unveil what we don t know. This method includes overcoming obstacles by developing a hypothesis, testing its prediction, and coming to a reasonable solution. There are three simple roles that involve problem solving which consist of making decisions, generating new knowledge, and seeking information. According to teachervision, problem solving is, and should be, a very real part of the curriculum. It presupposes that students can take on some of the responsibility for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women feel more obligated than men to control their emotions, coping is something we all do either directly or indirectly without even noticing it. One main reason coping skills are important to people with disabilities because, people with disabilities are more likely to be bullied than their nondisabled peers. Studies show that students with disabilities had a two to three ratio of being bullied Students with disabilities are already struggling academically in the school environment. When bullied it directly has a major effect on the academic performance. Students with disabilities who do not know how to properly cope with their stressful environment can end up dropping out, avoiding school and having absences, decrease grades, inability to focus, and a loss of interest in academic achievement. As we all know bullying can be censored but it can t be stopped, if and individual can accept who he/she is as a person and cope with their environment in a positive way it may help them live a normal life. Moreover, living with a disability can be very difficult especially to those who have acquired a disability. • 9. Comparing Homer s Iliad With Wolfgang Petersen s Film... In my response I am going to compare Homer s Iliad with Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy. The points I am going to compare are the fight between Paris and Menelaus, the role of the gods, the death of Patroclus and the fight between Hector and Achilles. The Iliad is an epic poem consisting of 23 books by Homer, which focuses on 50 days in the ninth year of the Trojan War , whereas the movie Troy directed by Wolfgang Petersen tells the whole 10 year story of the myth. The Trojan War happened in the Bronze Age and was a war between the Mycenaean Greece kingdom and the kingdom of Troy. Homers Iliadis believed to be one of the first works of western literature and was set 500 years earlier than the time in which he lived. The Iliad is to be listened to, not read, unless you are the poet performing the epic. The poet would chant or sing the Iliad while being accompanied by lyre, to help tell the story. It had a set rhythm and metre in each line of the poem, which the poet had to follow but it is lost in translation as its original written language is Ancient Greek. The film Troy was released on the 14th May 2004 and is loosely based on the Iliad. Brad Pitt, who was 40 years old during the making of this movie, and stars as Achilles. The ending of the film is not from the Iliad but from Virgil s Aeneid, as the Iliad ends with Hectors death and funeral. The Role of the Gods Throughout the Iliad, gods play an important role and are a focal point. They are always helping out and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think in this world many people are ashamed to be knocked down, but it doesn t matter if you get knocked down, it matters that you rise back up. There is a quote saying It s ok if you fall down and lose your spark. Just make sure that when you get back up, you rise as the whole damn fire Colette Werden. This quotes states that it s okay if you get knocked down, but make sure that when you rise back up, you rise stronger than you have ever been. • 11. Why The Luxembourgish Economy Is Too Dependent On The... Only a few OECD countries, if any, are as dependent to such an extent on one single branch of activities as Luxembourg is on its financial services industry. Since years it has been the principal growth engine of the economy. It is not only fuelling employment, but also activities linked to corporate services. In the last decade, the dynamism of fiscal revenues coming from the sector contributed to financing the expansion of the public sector and a solid short term budget situation has been realised (OECD, 2008, p.52). This Thesis will examine the question whether the Luxembourgish economy is too dependent on the financial services industry. Furthermore, it is going to measure the contribution coming from the sector to the national economy. The objective is to find out to what extend the economy depends on the financial sector. To reach this, this Thesis will first give an overview of the Luxembourgish economy and analyse its international competitiveness. Then, it is going to explain how the country evolved to becoming a financial centre and it is describing the financial centre we can see today. After being well informed about the economy and the financial services industry, the research is going to measure the direct impact on the economy coming from the industry, in terms of contribution to GDP, to national employment, to fiscal revenues, to national production and to the trade balance. Finally, the conclusions based on the results obtained will give an answer to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. M1 Unit 1 Analysis Unit 1 Assessment Transformation is a dramatic change in form that signals excitement, momentum and opportunity for something to go wrong. My house went through transformation that was terrifying and shocking to my family. The night after Christmas and our house caught on fire. There are many stories meant to scare us, but how did they use transformation to elicit fearin the reader? Many stories use transformation in humans, objects, and settings to elicit fear. Reading these stories is frightening when you become engaged in the characters and setting. Transformation in human emotions can create fear because we become captivated in the characters feelings. In The Fall of the House of Usher, the narrator, Roderick, and Madeline transform. The narrator notices increasing madness of Usher as his skin grows whiter, his normal routine was forgotten, and he roamed through the house or stared into space for hours. The Narrator is frightened because he believes he is beginning to feel infected by Usher s condition. The Narrator fears that he too may be going mad. These feelings... • 14. Fivers In Watership Down Fivers Evolution If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Quote from Frederick Douglass. This quote was emphasized greatly throughout the novel Watership Down, by Richard Adams. Fiver, a dynamic character, is small and timid, but only because he sees far ahead of what most rabbits see. He knows that something bad will happen to the rabbit s home. Fiver guides the group through their travels, although it is indirect through his brother Hazel because he is not someone that the pack would exactly look up to since he is small and timid. Plus, they are only leaving their warren because of a bad instinct that Fiver has about it. The rabbits became strange in many ways, different from other rabbits. They knew well enough what was happening. But even to themselves they pretended that all was well, for the food was good, they were protected, they had nothing to fear but the one fear; and that struck here and there, never enough at a time to drive them away. They forgot the ways of wild rabbits. They forgot El ahrairah, for what use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy s warren and paying his price? (116). I was surprised that Fiver s instincts are actually right. In this quote Fiver is explaining how the warren they joined was a bad place and he finally figured it out. Now, his group trusts him and respects his instincts. Do? replied Fiber. Why, go now. I told Cowslip we were going before I left the burrow. (117). As you can tell, Fiver has confidence now. Before, he would not even try to boss the group around and if he did they would not listen. But, now that they know that he was right about his instincts, they are willing to trust him as a leader. (15 marks) In 1992, Euro Disney was launched in Paris. This project unexpectedly received undesirable feedback from its target market since the company wrongly assumed that it would be easily accepted by the Western European market. Disney received criticisms and negative publicity as they were thought to have brought American imperialism into Europe and the French government acquired farmland just to create the theme park which resulted to protests from the French farmers. Cultural issues also arose as most of its employees did not accept well the management style and the dress code, the customers were not satisfied with the language used in the theme park, with the ban of alcohol consumption, the pricing of tickets and merchandise, etc. The company learned that they had to be aware and have a full understanding of the culture of their host nation and apply it to the operations of the theme park; and this is the main strategic action that they had to pursue in order to capture the desires and interest of their customers. As a result, Euro Disney was changed to Paris Disneyland to strengthen the identity and nationalism of the theme park in relation with its host nation, France, and in turn the French were ... • 36. Funeral Oration Analysis Both Perikles Funeral Oration and the Athenian Constitution of Pseudo Xenophon have similarities and differences, both in wording and content. The Funeral Oration paints an overly idealistic picture of Athens, while the Athenian Constitution of Pseudo Xenophon, also referred to as the Athenian Constitution of the Old Oligarch, depicts Athens in a dramatized worst possible light. The two documents tend to use the same examples to make opposing points, a demonstration on how evidence can be twisted to fit a claim. Both documents discuss the leisure activities and luxuries of the Athenians, and use this concept to prove their opposing points. At the end of his speech, Perikles discusses the fact that the city will collectively care for the children made orphans by war. He also says that everyone in Athens is open and friendly with each other: the free which we enjoy in our government extends also to our ordinary life. There, far from exercising a jealous surveillance over each other, we do not feel called upon to be angry with our neighbor for doing what he likes (Thucydides 2.37.2). Perikles describes an idyllic society in which the populace is trusting and amicable. In contrast, the Old Oligarch says it is the people who man the ships and impart strength to the city; the steersmen, the boatswains, the sub boatswains, the look out officers, and the shipwrights these are the ones who impart strength to the city far more than the hoplites, the high born, and the good men (Pseudo Xenophon I.2). • 37. Presentation of Research Proposal Turn Taking Management for Multimodal Dialogue Systems Introduction Natural dialogue involves the management of many communicative resources in a complex activity. Participants in a conversation transmit information, agree and disagree between each other, monitor the communicative status of their messages, make decisions about non linguistic actions and, among other things, they deal with social conventions about who is to talk and when. Conversations are joint actions in which participants individually perform coordinated activities (Clark, 1996). It is quite illustrative the metaphor proposed by Clark about dialoguing as dancing waltz. Each individual action is coordinated in a choreographic way with the actions of the other person. How and when to talk is learned since childhood, it is known that face to face conversation is the matrix of language acquisition. It is common to listen parents telling to kids when is expected from them to talk (for instance, they motivate responses if a question, an order or a hello was expressed, they show when is expected to say thank you or you are welcome ). For the last twenty years, various efforts have sprung from the interest to develop annotation models that reflect the diverse ways in which participants behaviors contribute to conversation (Ahrenberg, et al., 1995; HCRC, Carletta, et al., 1996; DAMSL, Allen Core, 1997). One would wonder where we are headed and if the earth will be able to sustain life in the next century. When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of gasses that form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents any heat from escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released from the earth s center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the atmosphere. The trapped heat has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has subsequently had adverse effects on the ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature that have occurred on a global scale over time can lead to significant and human threatening changes in the global weather patterns. The contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods and famines. Driving forces of this climatic change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153). ... The integration of lifestyles, cultures, and beliefs in this metaphorical melting pot, has been simmering since the early 1500 s. Spanish settlers migrated to new worlds determined to claim land promised to them by the Crown of Spain. Although, consequently, the natives had not realized that their way of life and all that it entails, would become among the first ingredients in the pot of U.S. history. Despite integration beginning with the emigrant settlers, they considered indigenous natives to be savage, second class citizens on their own soil. In comparison to the superior standards of Spanish customs, protecting these very ideologies of superiority against the Native Americans happened peacefully, or by forcefully. The natives were simply out matched in arms, against Anglo Americans, which is why the legacy of Hispanidad remains disparaged and vague. These native peoples, first mislabeled as Indians by an explorer named Christopher Columbus, divided themselves into many different tribes, each with its own government, language, traditions and religions. Europeans, who slowly poured into the Indian s land, did not respect the Indians beliefs, interrupted their peaceful life and would do almost anything to get the land to them selves. The settlers also believed the land that both the Indians and the settlers lived on was theirs to themselves. They began to push the Native Americans off of their own land. Many of them fought back to keep their homes, some succeeded, some didn t. By the 1800 s most of the Native Americans signed a treaty with the European American government. The results left the Native Americans on small pieces of land called reservations in exchange for their land and peace. The European Americans promised that they would give the Indians living on the reservations food, water, money and education for the children. Most of these promises were not kept. In today s modern age, when most people hear that word, they cringe and think of ugly, hairy women ejecting hatred towards men, women that think they are subordinate and higher than every man out there, and women that desire nothing more than to emasculate the opposite sex. If they took the time to educate themselves, they could learn that feminismand misandry are two very different words. As Oxford dictionary describes it, Misandry is a hatred of men while Feminism is the equality of the sexes. With phrases like Women s turn to dominate! and All men are pigs! I can understand why some people think that misandry equates to feminism. To encourage dialogue between men and women in addressing these issues, there must be an end in viewing feminists as misandrists. Instead of empowering all genders, it puts them down. The misconception about feminism comes from a lack of understanding what feminists goals are. The main goal being gender equality. To achieve economic and social equality, we must acknowledge the three reasons why it is still relevant today; gender roles, the wage gap, and rape culture. Ever since the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, the first convention for women s rights in the Unites States, feminism has become an essential movement that our world needs to progress. The 7.7 7.9 magnitude earthquake only lasted for a minute, however, the impact was incredible. The earthquake ignited several fires that spread throughout San Francisco and lasted for three days. Tectonic plates make up the outermost shell of the Earth and have been moving in relation to each other for hundreds of millions of years. Two tectonic plates, North American Plate and Pacific Plate, meet in Western California. The boundary between these plates is a zone of faults. One of these faults is called the San Andreas fault, which is a transform plate boundary. This means the motion between the two relative plates is mainly horizontal. At 5:12 am, the Pacific Plate slid horizontally north west in relation to the North American Plate, causing the earthquake along the San Andreas fault and associated faults.1 Contemporary geologists were amazed and bewildered with the size of the horizontal tectonic movements and the large rupture length (477km).2 The San Francisco Earthquake had a highly significant impact on the surrounding environment. • 52. Disadvantages Of Geothermal Power What is Geothermal Energy? Geothermal energy is to a more or less extent, extracting power/energy from Earth s internal thermal heat. How do Geothermal Power Plants Produce Energy? To produce electricity/energy, wells are dug a mile or so deep into underground reservoirs. They tap steam and hot water which drives turbines that are connected to electricity generators. What Are The Different Types of Geothermal PowerPlants? There are three types of geothermal power plants: binary, flash, and dry steam. In binary geothermal power plants they use hot water and pass it by a secondary fluid, this fluid as a lower boiling point, causing the secondary fluid to become a steam that drives the turbine. In flash geothermal power plants they use steam made by rom pulling high pressure hot water into cooler low pressure water. They then use the steam to drive the turbines. Finally, in dry steam geothermal power plants they also use steam, but get the stream from out of fractures in the surface and used it to drive the turbine directly. It is one of the oldest forms of harnessing geothermal energy. Benefits and Disadvantages of Geothermal Energy Geothermal energy has many benefits here are a few.
