Argumentative Essay Examples For High
School
Writing an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Essay Examples for High School" can be both
challenging and rewarding. The difficulty arises from the need to not only present a coherent
and well-reasoned argument but also to tailor it specifically to the high school level. Crafting a
compelling essay involves thorough research, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate
ideas effectively.
One of the challenges is finding appropriate examples that resonate with high school students
while addressing the complexities of the chosen argument. Selecting relevant and engaging
examples requires a deep understanding of the target audience and their interests. Additionally,
the essay must strike a balance between being informative and persuasive, as it aims to not only
present evidence but also to convince the reader of the validity of the argument.
Furthermore, maintaining a clear structure is essential. The essay should have a strong
introduction that introduces the topic, a well-organized body that supports the argument with
evidence, and a conclusion that reinforces the main points. Balancing these elements can be
tricky, especially when trying to cater to the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of high school
students.
Moreover, the process involves extensive revision and editing to ensure clarity, coherence, and
proper grammar. Communicating complex ideas in a way that is accessible to high school
students requires careful word choice and sentence structure.
In conclusion, crafting an effective argumentative essay for high school demands a combination
of research, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. It is a challenging task that
requires careful consideration of the target audience and a commitment to presenting a
compelling argument. However, the end result can be immensely rewarding, as it provides an
opportunity to engage with important issues and contribute to the development of critical
thinking skills in high school students.

Charismatic Gifts Debate Essay
Charismatic Gifts Debate By Mark Jones Theo 350 B05 September 26, 2010 1
The Charismatic Gifts Debate For my research paper I choose the charismatic gifts
debate because coming from a Pentecostal/Charismatic background growing up in
church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I
saw the gifts in action. There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for
today or have they ceased from the church. One side says that the gifts are in the
past and is not relevant for the day that we live in and another side says that the
gifts are still relevant for today. There is one group that says that if you do speak in
tongues, then you are under demonic control and are not really saved. Both... Show

Again we need to look at how the Bible uses these words. In John 17:3 it says that
This is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom you have sent. (New American Standard Bible, 1995 revised). In that verse
it talks about how having eternal life is to also knowing God. Also only the
believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever
is not known by Jesus (Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that
he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a kind of salvation knowing, it is a
kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. He knows them and knows that
they are saved. The unbelievers are not known and therefore are not saved. It would
seem to be consistent with scripture to say that ...as I m fully known would refer to
salvation relationship between the Christians and Jesus Christ. When the return of
Christ comes, we as Christians will see him face to face. Another argument is that
present day tongues are further revelation and then must be equal to scripture and
ought to be included into the Bible. But since the Bible has nothing to add to it, the
gift of tongues must no longer be valid. The problem with this argument is that faulty
because recognizes revelation that cannot be added into the Bible. 1 Cor. 14:26 talks
about the church in Corinth were revelations were revealed that were not included in
the Bible. In this verse it
The Meaningless Relationships In The Waste Land By T. S....
Abstract:
This paper explains the changing human relationships due to the changes that have
happened recently. I will utilize three types of relationships, love ,marriage and
homosexual relationship that T.S.Eliot mobilized in the poem The Waste land .It is
through the sections of the poem each particular episode delineates one fact about the
trivial and unsuccessful relationship .The representation of these relationships is
unproductive and unfruitful.
Keywords: The Meaningless Relationships, Love relationship, Marriage relationship,
and homosexual relationship.

The Meaningless Relationship:
In the Modernized and materialistic societies that lack hope and a sense of
significance, various aspects of life have lost their meaning and have been reduced to
trivial and superficial thing. One aspect during the modern epoch is represented in
T.S.Eliot s The Waste Land1922 The unproductive relationships in the modern
society that are dry, lifeless and sterile .This theme is one of the recurring subjects
that T.S.Eliot tried... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stereotypes Of Being A Female Engineer
competition was ahead of her against men. This shows how even females are able to
pursue a career in engineering because the mentality are smart as men.
In the career of engineer men are more likely to major in that career when attending
college but the fact that a woman wants to major in the engineer career does not make
her different from men. With this being said just the fact that gender is involved in the
engineer career should be changed because women want to also be a part since
women enjoy it for themselves. Common misconceptions that women face when
majoring in engineering are that womens are not smart or do not know how to do
math. According to the NC State News, an online article First Year Class Boasts

The class average math and critical reading SAT score are more than 1300 and the
average ACT score is above 30 . This quote briefly goes over that fact that females
who were first year class have a high results in the SAT and in the ACT this
indicates that even as females they can still achieve high score that are needed for
colleges. Gender engineer does not need to be a problem when women want to
major in it because after all women and men are the same but just different genders.
Stereotypes also exist for labeling women that major in engineer because people see
a different perspective that identifies women that major in engineer. Stereotypes that
are being used for women that particularly major in engineering are that women do
not have the same capability as man s to handle this kind of job and also that this is
shown as a men traditional job not for women. Mark Crawford in Engineering Still

Men’s Conflict With Food, Weight, Shape Appearance
Essay
Why does the general public believe only women are victims of body image and
eating disorders? Adolescent to adult males are dangerously preoccupied with the
appearance of their bodies. The difference between men and women are men almost
never talk openly about this problem. Society has taught them that they shouldn t be
concerned about how they look. But countless numbers of men are sacrificing
important aspectsof their lives to working out compulsively. This leads to distorted
body images, which ties together with eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia
(Adonis Complex.) The general public usually categorizes these disorders with
women only. Women aren t the only victims; men are suffering too, but just silently.

Their perception of the male body becomes skewed. On television these days, it
seems as if the models stick together. It is rare to see an over weight person with a
lean and muscular person. From my observation, women on television are usually
tall and skinny with voluptuous curves. The men are tone with unrealistic chiseled
features. I grew up spending a lot of time in front of the television, unaware that I
was being subliminally brainwashed. Television is causing young males and
females to develop a negative perception on what is seen as normal. During the
earlier part of November, NBC broadcasted the 2001 Victoria Secret Fashion Show:
The Sexiest Night on Television. This one hour event was broadcasted in prime time
that featured tall, incredibly skinny, full featured women elegantly modeling lingerie.
But in reality, it was just a tacky peepshow of emaciated women pumped full of
silicone flaunting their bodies. It was a full hour of sugarcoated pornography, an hour
of women whoring themselves to photographers. According to The View, a talk show,
more than half of people who tuned were teenage girls. They were interested in what
the general public deemed as beautiful. What was on television that night was nothing
close to realistic. Imagine all the teenage girls who are completely mesmerized these
women. To achieve that look, those models have to go through rigorous diets and
dehydration. The lighting has
Phineas Gage Summary
Imagine your sitting at home watching the news, a reporter talks about a man
surviving a three foot iron pole being blown through his skull and taking a chunk
of his brain out. This was an actual story that happened to a man named Phineas
Gage back in 1848, long before modern neuroscience and medication. Gage was a
railroad track builder for the town of Cavendish, Vermont. While he was working,
a man uses dynamite to blow away rocks that are blocking the way of the railroad
tracks. The dynamite goes off to early and sends a tamping iron, a rod used for
beating down earthly substance in tamping for blasting, straight through Gage s
head. The rob goes through his left cheek and his eye, it splits his optic nerve, and
then comes out his forehead. Gage lived through this horrible incident and he s was
still able to speak and move around, but he was not the same... Show more content on

It amazes me that this man was able to survive such a horrendous experience. I did
some research on what parts of his brain were actually destroyed. The frontal lobes,
limbic system, and anything in between the two were obliterated. As you all know,
the frontal lobes deal mostly with receiving and coordinating messages from other
lobes, while the limbic system controls your emotions and drives(hunger,
dominance,etc.). So my prediction is that his limbic system was definitely abolished,
but his frontal lobes were merely damaged. The fontal lobes also help the brain with
motor control and speech production which Gage still had. So the only explanation I
can come up with is that limbic system got shut down and the neurotransmitters shut
down as well which stopped sending messages to the frontal lobe. With the frontal
lobe not receiving any messages from the limbic system, Gages emotions went
rampant, going from a really nice guy to a really not so nice guy. By knowing more
about Mr. Gage and what he went through, I now know why he acted the way he
Ontario Approach An Reflection Point Summary
The article Provincial Municipal Relations in Ontario: Approaching an Inflection
Point discusses how the relationship between provincial and municipal government in
Ontario needs to adapt to changing circumstances as time goes on. In order for the
relationship to adapt there needs to be more communication on what both levels of
government roles and responsibilities are in order to better serve the province as
partners. One of the strengths of this article is that it is broken up into sections to
discuss different aspects of the provincial municipal relationship and how both levels
of government can communicate to better understand their roles. The article also
discusses financial issues and how the strengthening of the provincial municipal
relationship can help combat the financial concerns on the horizon, such as the
municipal infrastructure deficit. A weakness of this article is that although it
provides many thoughtful examples of how the Ontario government has been able to
strengthen the provincial and municipal relationship in the past, it needs to focus
more on the solution as opposed to the examples. The past examples should be only to
support the articles argument as opposed to being the argument itself.... Show more

Due to the fact that many municipalities have different needs for their communities
they need to communicate those needs to the province in order to get what they need.
The textbook discusses the importance of these consultations because communication
is the only way the province is going to be able to meet the demands of the
municipality. Even though the province is seen as having more power they need to be
able to provide the right support, therefore the municipality needs to take
responsibility of stating what support and finances they
Advice For Young Artists By Patti Smith
Journal #1 Advice for Young Artists
Patti Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois, but was raised in New Jersey. She
currently resides in New York City, which is also where she made her name
working as a musician and artist. In the video titled 8 Artists Advice to the Young
she articulates that young artists should not concern themselves with money. She,
instead, believes that they should focus on their work and their name, which will
then translate into success. This advice appeals to me in all facets of life. If I
focus on working hard, success will just be a by product of that hard work. Patti
Smith has seemingly taken her own advice as she has been working on her craft,
whether music, poetry, or visual arts, for nearly 45 years ( Patti Smith ). Anyone
who devotes nearly half a decade into their artwork embodies focus. Furthermore, as
Patti Smith expressed, this focus on one s work will translate into success, and for
Patti Smith it has. The evaluation of success is subjective; however, it appears that
Patti Smith has achieved success in all forms. Financially, her net worth is currently
valued at $15 million ( Patti Smith Net Worth ). While critically, she was named one
of Rolling Stone magazine s 100 greatest artists (100 Greatest Artists). Moreover, if
success is measured with the legacy one leaves, it is important to note that Patti
Smith serves as an inspiration to numerous musicians. Seeing Patti Smith achieve this
level of success while following her own advice,
The Shawchek Redemption And The Shawshank
Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption (1994) was directed and written by Frank Darabont. It
is an adaptation of the novella Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption,
written by Stephen King. The film received a lot of critical acclaim and was
nominated for the 1994 Best Picture Academy Award. Many of King s literary works
had been adapted to screen prior to the release of The Shawshank Redemption. Films
including Stand By Me (1986) and The Shining (1980) establish King s name in the
cinematic world. This notoriety would have been beneficial to the film as the
director, Frank Darabont, had only ever directed a short film before, which was
coincidentally also an adaptation of Stephen Kings The Woman In The Room.
Fidelity can be difficult to accomplish when adapting written text to the screen as
there are a different set of rules and limitations. Where a novel may have hundreds of
pages, a film only has a few hours to convey the same message and meaning to the
audience. A film must show the events whereas a written text can tell the reader what
occurred.
In the novella, Red is introduced before Andy. The entire story is from his point of
view. As the narrator of the novella, Red feels that before he can talk about Andy he
has to explain a few other things about [him]self (2012, p.4). The reader gains more
of an insight into Red and his past than is in the film. In The Shawshank Redemption
the audience is initially shown Andy on the night of the murder of his wife and her
lover. Darabont
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Textbooks
Nowadays, the e Books as text book in the classroom at schools is a new pattern
especially in developing countries. But their are also some studies shows that the
traditional print textbooks are irreplaceable. Below are some major advantages and
drawbacks of electronic textbook.
Firstly, the superior flexibility and accessibility of e textbook is one of the benefit
using over traditional textbooks (Coleman, 2004; Cavanaugh, 2002; Long, 2003;
Myers, 2009). The characteristics such as attractiveness and ease of availability
encourage students to consult for textbook information.
Secondly, e books will enhancing the learning process effectiveness. The e Book
project of Clearwater High School (2010) describe that e book provide different
functions allow students and teachers to use rather than to scribble on a print book.
Simultaneously, Grabe and Grabe (1996) find that larger font sizes and spacing
allowing students to track reading more effectively and giving more processing time.
The e Book can provide reading support for students through their ability to change
the displayed text size.
Next, effective instruction of e Books can be ensured by interaction. The e Book can
be programmed to evaluate each response immediately and provide suitable feedback
to give the instruction to help student learn more and engage in extra work to further
learning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, there are also some limitation exist if using e books instead of
traditional textbook. Unfortunately, electronic equipment are complicated and the
students may use it for entertainment instead of studying. But the technology is
advanced in a high speed. It is probable that the traditional textbook will replace by
the e books in the future. Most people believe that the limitation of the e books will
be solved and the drawbacks of it can be minimize in a accepted
Florida Californi A Great Impact On The Most Diverse...
California has been known for it s beautiful golden coast, stunning mountain ranges,
and the always wonderful sunny weather. The state houses the largest and second
most diverse population of people in the United States. The large diversity of the
people could be contributed by the vast differing landscapes that stretch across the
state. Northern Californiain particular, is home to a variety of enormous mountains,
mountain ranges, beautiful lakes, and forever flowing rivers. People come from all
over to witness these breathtaking views. As for Southern California the alluring
beaches, rolling grass valleys, and various other attractions make for a significant
difference to northern California. The difference in environments has a great impact
on the type of people that live in each region. An individual s race, ethnicity,
hobbies, political views, job, etc. all can have an impact on what area of California
they live in. Some people, including myself enjoy a lot of outdoor activities that fit
well in Northern California areas such as hunting, hiking, snowboarding, etc.
Meanwhile, people that live in southern California may have much different outdoor
hobbies due to the change in climate. The contrast between north and south almost
creates a split in the state. In 1941, the proposal of a new state, named the State of
Jefferson would take the very upper most part of California and the southern most
part of Oregonto create a 51st state. Today, that proposal has

after defeating its rivals for the first time in centuries. The King of Qin then decided
the title
King was not good enough so he started calling himself the First Emperor , a title hey

of all of

program of
centralization that touched the lives of everyone in China. The First Emperor ordered

seem like he was a bold conquer who didn t let any obstacles stand in his way. But
these
traditional evaluations of him was entirely negative. Chinese historians listed him or

Briefly Present The Aim Of The Article Or Book Chapter
Briefly present the aim of the article or book chapter and summarize the main
findings/key points, along with a limited number of examples. The article that I chose
relates to sundownng and tips that can be used to reduce it from the Mayo Clinic
Website. Sundowning occurs with dementia patients and can cause a variety of issues
and behaviors such as confusion, wandering, and aggression to name a few examples.
In addition, there were many articles on this subject and from looking at several of
them it can be confusing because this is one topic that requires more research
because many things are unknown about sundowning syndrome. The term
sundowning refers to a state of confusion occurring in the late afternoon and spanning
into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What new insights I have gained is that it is important to look at the factors that
may cause sundowning in each person because factors that may be a part of
sundowning could be different for each resident and it must not be looked at the
same for everyone. For example, if a resident has a urinary tract infection or some
other medical condition that contributes to sundowning that would need to be
addressed. If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day
confusion different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the
same. Of course, sundowning can affect people differently such as types of
behaviors that might occur and it would be important to know what those
behaviors are especially if it is aggression. The social worker, nurses, CNA s and
others that work with the resident would need to be careful if someone gets
aggressive and know what to do for safety reasons. In addition, by knowing to look
for the factors that could be causing it measures can be taken to try to address it or
prevent it beforehand that would be the best practice.
Tips for reducing sundowning:
Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities.
Plan for activities and exposure to light during the day to encourage nighttime
sleepiness.
Limit daytime napping.
Limit caffeine and sugar to morning hours.
Keep a night light on to reduce agitation that occurs when surroundings are dark or
unfamiliar.

Climate Change And Natural Disaster
Climate change has been a very popular topic lately with all the crazy natural acts of
destruction occurring lately. Hurricane Harvey, Irma and now Hurricane Nate. Most
experts argue that the recent occurrence of tropical storms has to do with the
tremendous amount of global warming within the atmosphere. I for one agree that
there is a correlation between climatechange and natural disasters. The outcomes of
an increase in global temperatures include increased risk of drought and increased
intensity of storms and tropical cyclones with higher wind speeds.
Three unique articles were analyzed and assessed for potential information that
would be beneficial to include in this report. First off, let s tackle the main
vocabularies in these sources. They all seemed to agree with this working definition
of climate change. According to NASA, a change in global or regional climate
patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards
and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced
by the use of fossil fuels. Let us also discuss another staple vocabulary term that will
be utilized in this research document, natural disaster. Natural disaster can be
defined as a, a natural event such as a flood, earthquake, or hurricane that causes
great damage or loss of life. Or, according to Merriam Webster dictionary, a major
adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include floods,
hurricanes,
Dance Application Essay
Prior to studying business and finance at New York University, I wanted to be a
professional ballet dancer. I fell in love with the art form as a freshman in high
school when I saw a performance of the Nutcracker. At that moment, I decided to take
up ballet. Seven years later than the traditional path I began to study dance, but
through tenacity and dedication I was able to gain acceptance to Boston BalletSchool
s Pre Professional Program after a year and a half at a local studio. Nevertheless, I

than me. Though I rarely ever think of ballet as a team activity, as I reflect upon

and my class as a whole could succeed. Further, the entire class dynamic improved.
My classmates began actively supporting each other and enjoying dancing more than
before. This experience greatly informs my leadership style today. I believe that the
key to being a leader is helping individuals to recognize and capitalize upon their
potential. Individuals often fail to see in themselves what others see. A leader must
show team members what they cannot see to enable them to flourish. This is
essential to fostering a diverse community, as encouraging individuals strengths and
differences helps them to express their entire, authentic selves, as opposed to trying to
conform to expectations. As a result, teams can become more dynamic, positive, and
creative and thus more
Theme Of Honor In The Killer By Hon Wong
Even Death Can t Thread Honor
In 1997, Hong Kong gained sovereignty from Great Britain to China. This
determinative event accompanied by the Tian An Men massacre in 1989 has become

Emergency Evacuation
When in a state of a natural disaster the victims affected often looked for federal
government assistance. This belief of receiving assistance from the National
government also applied to the local government and how the they began to rely on
funding and assistance. The central failure between state and local governments was
receiving a false sense of security, relying on Washington rather than preparing proper
emergency responses themselves. Johnny B Bradeberry, secretary of Louisiana

Kaufman decided to show two different ideas depicting what Harrison would do if
he actually became emperor. The first scene depicts Harrison as both the emperor
and the Handicapper General. Harrison is tougher than anyone has been before
with people s handicaps being almost unbearable. Though, he has put the worst of
the handicaps on the previous Handicapper Generals and their men. The second
scenario shows the handicaps being taken away and people returning to what we
consider to be normal life. While some people struggle and are upset with this at
first everyone eventually accepts it and the society slowly grows back to normal.
Though Harrison puts handicaps on the previous Handicapper Generals, and all
government officials and employees who had supported it in the past. Both
possibilities showing that Harrison Bergeron wouldn t totally do away with the
handicaps and he also has a huge amount of resentment for the government and
what they had done to him. Kaufman really focuses on Harrison s feelings in this
scene. It is obvious that he truly does hold hope that he will be he emperor but also
that there is a twisted battle going on inside him trying to figure out the type of
person and leader he wants to be. Either way, Harrisons character
Reflection On Improving My Writing Composition
As a student in High School, my writing composition was not very well developed.
Although, I got help from my teachers, in addition to that, on my free time I went to
the library to make extra corrections that were needed. My dad also helped me all
throughout high school by reading over my essays and making comments on what I
need to improve on, but even then I believe that my writingcould have improved. I
have tried to find strategic ways to improve my writing and I believe that I may

Isolation In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Avoiding Alienation Jules Verne once said solitude, isolation, are painful things
and beyond human endurance (Verne). It is obvious that within life isolation may
cause a person distress. Despair or depression are huge burdens for individuals, so
they often try finding an escape. Most of the characters within Ernest Hemingway
s A Clean Well Lighted Place are surrounded by loneliness, and as a result gravitate
towards a person or thing to provide them comfort. A majority of the characters
have gone through many hardships and lost some of the people they cared the
most about, so it is not surprising that they feel despair. The old man within the
story allegedly tried to commit suicide because He was in despair (Hemingway).
The old waiter working at a cafe empathizes with the old man because he
understands that he just wants a place where he can escape his alienation. There is
also a hopeless soldier who is so desperate to escape his despair that he hires a
companion. However, throughout all the solidary, there is a young waiter who seems
anything but lonely. The notion of escaping solidarity within A Clean Well Lighted
Place, is contrasted by the young man and portrayed in the old customer, the old
waiter, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young man is married and has never been alone so he feels no need for a
comfort. On the other hand, the old men and the soldier have gone through many
more hardships and feel a despair so strong that it can only be subsided by a person
or place which supplies them with reassurance. Without a doubt age and experience
isolate a person from society, which in turn causes them distress and leads them to
find a manner of avoiding their solidarity. Ultimately, solitude, and isolation can be
detrimental things many people are faced with, yet few can truly deal

The Failure Of American Intervention During The Vietnam
War
Section 1: Evaluation and Identification of Sources This investigation will answer
the question to what extent the failure of American intervention in the Vietnam
War was solely a result of faulty military strategy. This investigation is important
because the Vietnam War to some extent laid the basis for future American foreign
intervention; thus understanding why our failure in Vietnam is crucial to
understanding how we can avoid such catastrophe in the future. The scope of this
investigation includes factors contributing to US failures in Vietnam from 1964 to
1975. In this investigation there will be an examination of the master s thesis
entitled A Failure in Strategy America and the Vietnam War 1965 1968 by Major

military involvement in Vietnam. There will also be an examination of the article

Day Of The Dead
The Day of the Dead
Growing up my mother raised me with her Mexican traditions and beliefs. Many that
we celebrate to this day. One holiday that we celebrated around Halloween is DГa de
los Muertos, The Day of the Dead. This is a holiday that celebrates and remembers
loved ones that have passed. Why is this day celebrated today? It is celebrated
because it is a tradition that dates back many years, celebrates loved ones who have
died, and it helps family remember their loves ones.
To begin, Day of the Dead was stared in the 15th century by the Aztec people. The
Aztec people believed in human sacrifice. They would sacrifice people to the lady of
the Dead, known as goddess Mictecacihtla. The website Britannica states that the
Aztec people would celebrate the lady of the dead for a whole month. The month was
originally in the month of August. Once the Spanish arrived in Mexico they brought
the belief of Catholicism. The Spaniards taught the Aztec about their catholic
beliefs and ultimately combined the two belief and created a Folk Catholicism.
The combination of the two beliefs created The Day of the Dead which was
changed to coincided with All Saints day and all Souls day, November 1st and
November 2nd. The belief is that on October 31st at midnight the gates of heaven
open and all the spirits of the children come back to visit their family for 24 hours,
November first. On November second, the spirits of the adults come back to visit and
celebrate with their families. The

Organ Gift
The historical backdrop of organ gift The subject of organ gift is thought to be a

historical backdrop of this practice, we may watch it to be exceptionally dubious
and subject to various inquiries. There are couple of major issues that are by
implication or specifically connected with organ gift that will dishearten you to give
an organ even in the wake of passing the terminal stage. History was made amid the
1950s when the primary instance of a fruitful human kidney transplant occurred.
Things went easily for quite a while yet by the late 1960s, things turned out badly in
different ways. It happened as a result of the lacking advancement made by
therapeutic science in a similar field. Dr Christiaan Barnard effectively accomplished
the main heart transplantation on a patient in South Africa in the year 1967. Be that
as it may, it didn t work out in the primary endeavor as the patient kicked the bucket
inside half a month. A few religious establishments even thought of it as a
transgression against the Lord and humankind. Accordingly, a few heart transplant
offices were shut in various parts of the world. It was just somewhat later that it was

the event that we highlight the organ gift realities then we will find that all things

Shadow Of The Colossi Essay
You take control of a young man called Wander who has brought the body of young
women called Mono to a temple situated in the forbidden lands. Wander is seeking
an entity called Dormin who possess the ability to bring back her soul from the
dead. The Dormin agree to Wander s request on the condition that he destroys the 16
Colossi that are holding the Dormin captive. Wander agrees to the request and so
begins his journey across the forbidden lands.
To find the Colossi, you need to raise your sword above your head while in a sunlit
area which reflects the light pointing you in the right direction. From there you can
hop on your horse Agro and gallop to each location. Consequently, although Shadow

Solving Cases with Forensic DNA Analysis
Forensic DNA analysis is still a relatively new method that has been used to solve
cases such as crimes and paternity tests. This method of forensic evaluation is
examined by using genetic material, DNA, an acronym for deoxyribonucleic acid.
Although each individual s DNA differs from someone else s, with the exception of
identical twins, around 99.9% of DNAis the same in each person ( The FBI DNA
Laboratory ). Therefore, in order to identify the genetic profile of the individual
being analyzed, scientists focus on the remaining 0.1% of DNA that differentiates
one person from another ( The FBI DNA Laboratory ).
History of Forensic DNA Analysis: DNA fingerprinting was introduced around
1986 to identify an alleged suspect in a rape murder case (Panneerchelvam and
Norazmi 22). Since then, using forensic DNA analysis has become more prevalent
and has helped to exonerate many innocent suspects involved in such cases. Despite
being used in only one percent of criminal cases, DNA tests have helped to acquit
over 25 percent of wrongfully accused suspects ( Can DNA Demand a Verdict?
/Baird, Neufeld, and Scheck, 34). As of 2008, over 120 countries use some sort of
forensic DNA analysis in cases like these ( INTERPOL Global DNA Profiling ).
Usage:
In order to analyze DNA, scientists require a sample of the individual being tested,
such as blood, semen, or hair, before they can create a genetic profile of the person
(Petricevic 1). Scientists can then analyze those samples using a
Essay on Grateful Dead
Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead, the most popular so called underground band of all time. This
band has underwent many changes, some good and others bad throughout their
thirty or so years of performing. I plan to prove that a band that has remained
together for thirty plus years isn t as easy as many would assume. In fact I would
have to say the down times in the band almost equal the outrageously great time they
had. Despite all the down times the amazing music of the Grateful Dead always made
it possible to bring smiles to empty faces anytime anywhere. Even now that the
bands figure head (Jerry Garcia) has passed on, the family that he created

What Is Chaucer s Portrayal Of Women In The Canterbury
Tales
From Geoffrey Chaucer to Donald Trump, history has seductively seen women
pinned as the lesser of the sexes, poked as the inferior to the male, prodded as
subject to their authority. Sexism infiltrates all aspects of a female s life: from at
home, to work, to worship there is little to no escape. It was not until the 20th century
when a motion dubbed Feminism sparked and ignited women everywhere, no matter
their location on the globe, to fight for their rights. However, the women of the late
14th century stood alone as the counterpart to men, the fully dependent creature. The
1392 prologue of The Canterbury Talesembodies the portrayal of women during this
time period: Geoffrey Chaucer, the male author, exerts his dominance with a mocking

Through her characterization, Chaucer portrays the prioress as a religious woman
with good table manners: at meat her manners were well taught withal; not morsel
from her lips did she let fall (Chaucer 131) and in courtliness she had a special zest
(Chaucer 136). He also illustriously depicts what is on the woman s body, a coral
trinket on her arm, a set of beads, the gaudies tricked in green, whence hung a
brooch of brightest sheen (Chaucer 163 165). Women in Medieval times were
expected to not pay much attention to attire, yet she did. While it never is
explicitly stated, Chaucer implies that she is a woman of a wealthy family and of
good lineage. He consistently exerts that she gained position by means of
endowment: possibly her husband was without a brother or son and she received his
wealth. At the beginning of her section in the prologue, Geoffrey Chaucer states that
her greatest oath was by Saint Loy (Chaucer 124). While the footnote states Saint
Loy is a reference to Saint Eligius, the patron saint of goldsmiths and courtiers, many
scholars believe this line is an unbelievable use of comic irony by the author. Robert
Fleissner argues in Neuphilologische Mitteilungen in the section That Oath of the
Prioress that Chaucer implies that the name Loy may represent such a subliminal
play on words, reflecting the Old French for loi (meaning law). Further, the effect of
the nun s profanity is that by taking an oath by the Law per se, she was not only
refraining from actual swearing in the secular sense, but repudiating the very notion
of unprincipled swearing (Fleissner 98). Conclusively, the nun is intelligent beyond
the boundaries of education for women during that
Examples Of Adaptation In Harry Potter
We are constantly surrounded by adaptations, from BBC One s adaptation of Ann
Cleeves Shetland, to Harry Potter. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we
long always strive for meaning in everything, adaptation can allow us to see new
meanings in what we watch and take something we would not necessarily have seen
in the original.
Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for
instance a play onto the big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new
concept and ideals occur for the adaptation. Adaptations are palimpsests, for example,
in the Harry Potter films they take from the books that Ginny is in love with Harry
and all the girls want to be her friend, however in the films she is mainly seen as
helplessly in love with Harry and not much is seen regarding her life at Hogwarts.
Adaptations can be both good and bad, however they openly admit being an
adaptation, so they must adhere to having a connection to the original. ... Show more

Whilst an adaptation will have elements of its original text it will have its own
unique take and spin on the subject. This will be designed usually to enrapture the
audience but as adaptation is a form of survival, it is also designed to keep the story
alive. Since the dawn of time we have told stories that have changed over the years
but have primarily retained the same basic structure. Fundamentally, adapting
something is to change a quality whilst maintaining elements of the original so that it
is still understood to be an adaptation and not a
Eating at Restaurants
Going out to eat should always be a pleasurable experience. One goes out to eat at a
restaurant for several reasons including not wanting to cook, to share an outing with
a friend or family member, or to celebrate a special occasion. When going out to eat,
there are three distinct criteria that one must look at in order to determine if a
restaurant does or does not meet a patron s expectations. These criteria include the
menu, quality of food, and the price of the food. On a recent trip to visit a Mexican
restaurant, Mi Tierra, where I had never been before, I applied these three criteria to
determine if I would make a return visit to this establishment. One of the first things
that I looked at, besides the restaurant s dГѓ cor, where there was much to be desired,
was the restaurant s culinary offerings. Like many Mexican restaurants, the first
thing that is brought to our table is a basket of tortilla chips and a side of salsa. I
would not have given this Mexican restaurant staple a second thought except for the
mention in the menu that the first basket of chips is complimentary and any
subsequent basket would be charged at $1.50, which I found particularly peculiar
since no Mexican restaurant I have ever been to has this exception. While I perused
the menu, I noticed that it was chockfull of Mexican staples tacos, burritos,
enchiladas, and chiles rellenos most with the standard side of rice and beans. In
addition to be able to order these items individually or as part of

Intersections of Race, Class, and Gender in The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, The Tempest , the characters of Prospero and Caliban,
represent two different extremes on the social spectrum: the ruler, and the ruled.
Their positions on the social hierarchy are largely due to the fact that Caliban
responds almost wholly to passions, feelings of pleasure; his senses, while Prospero
is ruled more by his intellect and self discipline; his mind. Within The Tempestthere
are obvious social implications regarding this social hierarchy, with the
representations of characters such as Caliban and Prospero. During Shakespeare s

Essentially Prospero lands on Caliban s island, takes away everything he has, and
then forces him to become his slave proclaiming he saved him from his witch
mother. This is yet another perfect example of how Prospero displays the obvious
social hierarchy and is also the typical colonizer. These actions and consequent
reasoning s are also prime examples of Prospero s horrible tyrannical ways from the
beginning of the play. Prospero and Caliban s relationship is strained from the
beginning of the play when Prospero s strong authoritative beliefs begin to surface.
Caliban has the right of ownership of the island; however, Prospero firmly
believes in the superiority of the white European over the half devil islander.
While this puts a strain on their relationship from the start, the boiling point came
when Caliban attempts to rape Miranda, Prospero s daughter. Even after
attempting to rape Miranda, Caliban was brutally honest in not denying his
malicious intent. O ho, O ho! Would t had been done!/ Thou didst prevent me; I

two clans were immediate family and extended family. In warm climates men were
mostly naked, but the women wore simple knee length skirts and blouses. In the

Indians would also wear paintings on their body, or permanent makings of a tattoo.
The art on ones body would signify a persons age, social or material status, or for

The increase of silver jewelry among the Navajo s at the time reflected the

The Navajo Indians used other weapons like prayer sticks, claw dance stick, war

The progressive era in the United States is associated with political reforms and

experienced across the globe. Business firms experienced immense growth making
some owners excessively rich. On the other hand, the American people experienced
unhappiness owing to some problems at home. Workers in the huge corporations did

Sinclair exposed the presence of insects and rats in meat packing plants, which could
have a significant effect on people s health. Some individuals in the federal
government knew of the conditions in such plants but made no interventions.
However, the publishing of the book The Jungle caused pressures from authorities,
including President Roosevelt, which led to the enactment of the Meat Inspection
Act. Other writers, such as Ida Tarbell, exposed unethical business competition
techniques, such as that of the Standard Oil Company, which pushed competitors
from the market.
The unhealthy living conditions in the overcrowded slums were also exposed by
writers. The New York s Wall Street was also targeted by some writers as few
individuals controlled the flow of money in the entire nation. These writers were
referred to as muckrakers. President Roosevelt compared them to people raking up
the muck without doing any good (Cocks, Holloran, Lessoff, 2009). However, the
muckrakers are recognized for exposing the ills that threatened to damage the United
States society. The works of such writers also stimulated policymakers to seek
alternative ways of doing things. Muckrakers played a significant role in exposing
scandals, corruption, and wastes, which could not have detected by the general

Metastasio Opera Buffa
Eighteenth century Europe was a time of great intellectual change. The old scholastic
thought began to be changed out with the new Descartian cogito ergo sum. This shift
of intellectual thought did not just restrict itself to the philosophers it permeated all
of western culture. During the beginning of the eighteenth century, European opera
began to shift into a new soundscape.
A split occurred in opera between Opera Seria and Opera Buffa mainly as a result of
the Arcadian Academy. This literary movement sought to return Italian poetry to its
former glory, and by former glory they meant the ancient Greek s former glory. This
movement focused prominently on opera libretti. One such librettist was Piertro

The Enlightenment was a time where western intellectual thought shifted from the
world towards the human person. This shift was sparked by Descartes philosophy
which can be summarised by his words, cogito ergo sum or I think therefore I am.
With this shift man [became] the measure of all things. This lead to the development
of Secular Humanism. When Secular Humanism is applied to opera there is less of
an emphasis on the music which is something that points beyond humans and there
becomes an emphasis on the plot. Opera Seria is the product of this Enlightenment
thinking. Opera Seria is distinguished by its incredible emphasis on the plot over the
music. This new style of opera sought to rid opera of extraneous plot points into
order to make the plot extremely concise. This was all a result of the Enlightenment

The For An Anonymous Donor Program
Additionally, while there are solutions to the organ shortage problem, there are also
alternative solutions. The first alternative solution is to establish an anonymous
donor program, where organs are donated and received from complete strangers. An
advantage to an anonymous donor program would be that, it would eliminate the
social bias and the medical bias. On the other hand, a disadvantage would be that, the
recipient of the organ would know nothing about the donor. That could present issues
for someone that uses their religion to guide their decision when choosing an organ
donor.
The second alternative solution is a reward system of organ donation. People that
donate organs could receive money in return for their donation. That money could
either come from the recipient of the organ, or an established organization. A
disadvantage to a reward system of organ donation is that, people would be
donating organs for the extrinsic value of the act, instead of doing it to help the
greater good of someone else. Another problem that could arise is that, people
would begin to feel entitled to receiving an organ if they are wealthy or come from a
high level of society. On the other hand, an advantage could be that, more people
would begin to donate organs if they knew that they would be receiving something in
return.
So while there are many solutions and alternative solutions to the organ shortage
problem, the ultimate solution is stem cell research. A stem cell can

abject poverty (15). The bottom class of society, workers and job seekers take any
job they can find if they are fortunate. If they are lucky, they will be found in such
places as small industries around the city like the glue factory, the bone mills, the
tannery center, the distillery, the slaughterhouse, and the straw products factory.
Otherwise, these people work as sidewalk vendors who shine shoes, give haircuts
or clean ears (15). They can also find jobs as street cleaners or in communal sewing
centers. In addition to these unofficial social classes, Hindus in Bhopal and
throughout India adhere to a rigid caste system that further separates people into
classes (15). It is very hard to change caste to a higher standard of living and
converse with a higher class. But if some individuals have the desire to change
caste, they can through immense effort, talent, and luck; В…one may change caste
by gaining prominence in a certain occupation (17). The caste system offers little
flexibility in village life, politics, and in marriage. Religion also plays a part in this
caste; only Hindus can have caste. In the midst of the poverty and chaos in Bhopal,
Union carbide opened its chemical plant in 1969 (17). The plant is located at the city

How Does Liam O Flaherty Create Suspense In The Sniper
In this suspenseful short story, The Sniper , by Liam O Flaherty, two snipers from
opposing sides are fighting against each other. Set during the Irish Civil War, this
story includes a Republican Sniper and a Free State Sniper, from opposite sides of
the war. The suspense in this story is built through multiple ways using pacing and
timing. The author, Liam O Flaherty uses timing and order of events together to
create a lot of suspense throughout The Sniper . One of the ways that the author,
Liam O Flaherty, creates suspense is by using a variety of speed related words that
increase the pace of the story. Throughout the whole story, a multitude of words are
used that increase the pace of the story. The Republican sniper inhaled the smoke
[from his lit cigarette] hurriedly and put out the light. (O Flaherty 1) The
republican sniper is hurrying because it s too dangerous to be seen, which gives
the reader a sense of suspense. Also, after the Republican sniper peered over the
edge, There was a flash and a bullet whizzed overhead. He dropped immediately. (O
Flaherty 1) The Republican sniper has to react... Show more content on

In this story, decreasing pace is also used by the author successfully to build up the
suspense. After the Republican sniper shot the enemy sniper, In the street beneath
was all still. (O Flaherty 2) Right before the climax of the story, the pace starts to
slow down. A decrease in pace can also create suspense because normally when
things slow down, something big is going to happen, so decreasing pace gives the
reader the sense that the story is leading into an important event. While preparing to
shoot the enemy sniper, the Republican sniper took a steady aim. (O Flaherty 2) He
has time to take good aim, and the author purposely didn t rush through this part of
the story because the build up to the Republican Sniper s shot would create

The first recorded violence between Arabs and Jews in 1882, and only increased as
more Jewish people immigrated to Palestine, and the development of Palestinian
nationalism. The massive influx of Jewish immigrants to Palestine was perceived
by the Arab population as a threat to their national identity. During the 1920 s
relations deteriorated between the Arab and Jewish populations, and led to
hostility between the two group becoming more intense. In 1921 the first major
riots in Palestine against the Jewish population erupted, the Jaffa riots. The
escalation of tensions between the two groups led to the 1929 Palestine riots. In
these riots Jews were massacred in Hebron, and devastation took place in
Jerusalem and Safed. Finally, there was the 1936 39 Arab revolt in Palestine.
During the revolt, Palestinian Arabs rioted and murdered Jews. The revolt was
instigated by the Supreme Muslim Council in 1936. The outbreaks of violence
were responded to by the British with several reports, inquiries, and commissions.
The Haycraft Commission of Inquiry in 1921, the Shaw Report in 1930, the Peel
Commission of 1936 37, the Woodhead Commission of 1938, and the White Paper
of 1939. A two state solution was proposed as an end to the conflict in the Peel
Commission, and was the first to do so. The proposed solution was to separate
Palestine into two states, one Jewish state and one Arab
The Health And Weight Loss
Have you ever wondered why Coca Cola now comes in versions such as light and
zero ? If you have, chances are that you mentally answered your question by saying
that the company read your mind and was fulfilling your desire to lose weight while
still indulging in your favorite beverage. However, the relationship between you and
the food giants is quite the opposite. What you think is healthy or unhealthy is based
on research funded by companies that profit off of your food choices, currently, much
of the research regarding health and weight lossis funded by companies such as Coca
Cola and Kellogg therefore therefore, you are the one fulfilling their desire (CBS,
2015).
The idea that large companies and the media dictate our daily lives has slowly
become common knowledge. Therefore, one must be cautious in regards of the
sources he or she trusts. For instance, Steve Blair, who conducts research that
supports the idea that obesity in America is due to lack of physical activity as
opposed to calorie consumption has much of his research funded by Coca Cola, a
company which is largely known for its calorie packed drinks and snacks.
Moreover, while Blair s research might be supported by relevant data, so was the
research that justified smoking. Nonetheless, the way data is analyzed can be
extremely biased based on who is paying for the collection and analysis of such data
(Freedhoff, 2015).
The increase in the obese population is both an opportunity and a liability to
Oscar Wilde Hedonism
Throughout the years, there have been many people have tried to come up with their
own ideas for life that have failed. Some may have been closer to the truth than
others. Many writers expressed these theories of theirs in their writings, creating a
large amount of literature reflecting their anomalous opinions. The Dubliner Oscar
Wildeportrayed his hedonistic struggles his writings. Hedonismtainted Wilde s life
and was thoroughly reflected in his writings. These hedonistic views are painted
across his countless essays. Weighed with this bondage Wilde postponed a long
needed conversion. Struggling with these difficulties right up to the end.
Extravagance occupied Wilde s stories in the form of hedonism. All of Oscar Wilde s
writings reflect his life in a personal way most largely in the aspect of Wilde s
hedonism also his torn conscience was greatly reflected in them too (Pearce 241;
Ellmann 66). Many so called philosophies largely steal from the beliefs of early
Greek Philosophers. Commencing around 600 BC, in Greece, Hedonism and created
by the Greek philosopher CДЃrvДЃka. Hedonism supremely values pleasureas the
ultimate good and seeks to avoid or lessen pain (Heathwood). Essentially,
Hedonists seek to avoid pain as well as possible while adding up large sums of
pleasures in their lives. The supposed morals of a hedonist are solely based on the
fact of whether or not an act endows pleasure. Oscar Wilde expressed his support of
these tendencies through saying that he
Internal Conflict In Sonny s Blues
Sonny s Blues
In James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues it is only when a brother loses his child that he
realizes how easy it can be to lose his brother. The narrator s little brother, Sonny,
was left in his charge when their parents passed away. He neglects Sonny and
leaves him to work through hard decisions on his own which leads to Sonny being
picked up by the police for using and selling drugs. When the narrator s daughter,
Grace, passes he sees how suffering can affect people and reaches out to Sonny, who
is fighting to make his way in the world through music. Baldwin shows us that you
don t have to see eye to eye on everything to accept that person. The narrator doesn t
agree with his brother s use of drugs and the comfort he finds in music. When the
news of his Sonny s arrest arrives he brushes it aside, not seeing a need to reach out to
his brother. I couldn t find any room for it anywhere inside me. He resents his brother
because he believes Sonny is intentionally suffering. When he reaching out to Sonny
he sees that music is helping him and the narrator begins to accept his different path.
Filling the air with the immense suggestion that Sonny speak for himself. He doesn t
try to persuade him to follow a path that guarantees success but embraces his way of
overcoming his suffering. The narrator s internal conflict displays that is having a
hard time reaching out and accepting Sonny because of the decisions he made. In the
beginning of the story,
Social Media Essay
Social media began in a humble way in 1997. Today, social media gives us the
news, helps us find marriage partners, let s us instantly communicate around the
world. It helps us find jobs, market our products without ever leaving our home or
workplace. Today, thanks to social media, the world is truly at our fingertips.Social
media is not always about talking to friends or family, but it is also about internet
advertising and marketing, which the media loves to do. Internet marketing, occurs
when you buy items using apps on your phone. Some non internet digital channels
can be used to purchase items as well. Items can be purchased simply by calling a
certain number that was heard or seen on the radio, over a billboard or even on TV....

Where do we find the people we wish to reach? How do we enter the conversation
with them at an appropriate time? How do we earn the customers trust? How can
we be useful to them? How do they ask their customers on suggestions for selling
their product? All of these questions help marketing strategies to define their
strategy on social media. The purpose of a business company is to provide a wide
range of services focusing on different aspects of the visual arts. The layout and
design of the website is vital to the success of online marketing. It is all too
familiar to many of us to visit poorly designed websites. They appear disorganized
and ill planned. Visitors can t wait to leave to find clear and easy navigable sites that
welcome users and make the web experience enjoyable and ultimately profitable for
the company. There have been many studies done to determine the key components
of a successful business website. One study, published in Business Source Premier
conducted statistical tests to determine if there was a difference in website preference
between Asian cultures and white American culture. The purpose of the study was to
determine if web design was sensitive to differences in culture. The results of the
study were not too surprising. Basically, Asian culture and traditional business culture
is paternalistic and focuses on business models which are hierarchical or top down in
nature. Therefore when dealing with Asian
Barker V. Hennessy Industries Case Summary
Case Study: Barker v. Hennessy Industries Inc.
In the wrongful death case of Barker v. Hennessy, Richard Barker s widow and
children filed a claim against Hennessy Industries Inc. for losses sustained by virtue
of the death of Richard Barker. Barker claimed that Hennessy Industries Inc. was
liable for her husband s death, under the theories of strict liability, negligence, false
representation, and concealment, since they manufactured the equipment that was
used to grind, sand, and cut asbestos brake linings and shoes that Barker had used in
his profession as a mechanic ( Fern Barker v. Hennessy Industries Inc | FindLaw,
n.d.). The court ruled in favor of Hennessy, finding that they were not liable because
the machines that Hennessy made did not actually contain the asbestos that caused
the death of Barker.
Personal Observations
My personal observation is that Hennessy s machines were designed to cut, grind,
and sand asbestos containing materials. Asbestos exposure is not a risk, until the
asbestos containing material is disturbed or damaged ( Learn About Asbestos |
Asbestos | US EPA, 2015). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you agree or disagree? For the reasons stated in the first part of this paper, I do
agree that Hennessy had a duty to warn and that the failure to do so makes them
liable. Additionally, since in the case of Bettencourt v. Hennessy Industries Inc., 206
Cal.App.4th 140 (2012) was initially decided in favor of Bettencourt ( Uncertainty
in CA: Non Asbestos Products Used With Asbestos Products | Asbestos
/ Mesothelioma Personal Injury Trial Attorney, 2012), I do not believe that this was a
simple case to decide and that the ruling of the court could have easily gone the other
way.

the Death of Benny Paret Rhetoric Anaylsis
There is a difference between dying an honorable and noble death and simply dying.
It is the gap between trying and giving up and it is the sense of the unbearable
pleasure that comes along with success. In Norman Mailer s The Death of Benny
Paret , the author witnesses a first hand account of the tragic deathof the boxer, Paret.
Through many rhetorical devices, Mailer is able to have an effect on his audience,
allowing them to feel the same horror. Mailer uses diction to mold the events in a
biased and respectful way. Using words like inspired to describe the kind of shame
that Paret was creating by loosing makes his failure seem less crucial. Again, the
author makes euphemisms through his word choice by saying that Paret [fought]...

Little Brother Literary Analysis Essay
Literary Analysis Little Brother
Should the government be allowed to disregard the rights that are entitled to the
people whenever it pleases? In Corry Doctorow s book, Little Brother, Marcus
endures continuous conflicts with the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS
proclaims that everything they are doing is to protect the citizens, but Marcus does
not think that is the case. After experiencing abuse from the Department of Homeland
Security, Marcus sense of injustice is a catalyst for rebellion, retribution, and the need
to reveal the truth.
Marcus is a student who hacks plenty of the devices set up by the DHS without any
objective to harm them, but this all changed after a terrorist attack. The DHS
interrogated Marcus and his friends when they were innocent, and the treatment
they experienced was very extreme and uncalled for. You re talking about
defending my freedom by tearing up the Bill of Rights (55), is when Marcus
finally realizes the DHS would sacrifice the rights of the people in order to
contribute to their own belief of protection. Marcus begins rebelling by telling
people on Xnet not to listen to the things the DHS proclaim, and would openly taint
the view people had of the DHS. Marcus is aware of the things the DHS is doing
and knows that he does not have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marcus relied on Xnet to spread what was on his mind about the DHS, and plenty
of people were present to see what he had to say. Marcus described how the DHS
should derive its power from the governed and exposed their wronging. Marcus
wanted to rely on numbers and get others to see the truth behind the DHS. This
does not cause any immediate change in the DHS, but could have made people
question what could really be going on and wonder if that they believe to be safe is
a lie projected to them by the DHS. This is not enough to change the DHS so
Marcus has to find a way to persuade the
Theme Of Parody In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
Northanger Abbey is considered a parody of the gothic novel. While considered a
parody, it still has themes of the gothic novel such as mystery. Northanger Abbey, as
a satire, is periodically seen as a less popular novel when contrasted with other novels
written by Austen. Be that as it may, Northanger Abbey incorporates different sorts of
portrayal, profound mental examination, and still figures out how to give examples
of a well written gothic parody (Jesander).
The Eighteenth Century and the writing created amid it are known for serious
beginning components, and additionally investigative and constructive substance,
which is connected with the Enlightenment. The Eighteenth Century additionally saw
the ascent of the novel as a noteworthy kind in England. A couple real figures
incorporate Swift and Richardson (Jesander).

In Austen s books, characters are frequently somewhat characterized by their riches

needs to wed somebody rich, and spurns James for the wealthier Frederick. Mrs.

she feels less terrible about her own childlessness when she sees the shabbiness of
Mrs. Thorpe s garments. The General needs his youngsters to wed into rich and well
off families, and his own fixation is with rebuilding and finishing. While giving a
guided voyage through Northanger Abbey, the General continually requests that
Catherine contrast his home and gardens with those of Mr. Allen, and is constantly
satisfied to find that his effects are bigger or more superior. In her later books, Austen
connected character s identities with the specific things they cherished (SparkNotes

Types Of Hypertension And Secondary Hypertension
In the year 2000 it was estimated that about 25 percent of people worldwide had
hypertension and this number is expected to keep rising further increasing the risk
for millions in developing cardiovascular disease. There are two main types of
hypertension. Secondary hypertension is caused from an underlying disease in the
adrenal or renal systems or by use of certain medications. It is resolved when the
cause is treated or removed. Primary or essential hypertensionis the most common
type with the cause being unclear although the incidence is higher with age and
weight.

Although both of these readings are important after the age of 60 the systolic
reading is more significant due to the association with cardiovascular disease. Two to
three blood pressure readings will be taken at separate appointments before a
diagnosis of hypertension can be determined.
Although the causes of essential hypertension are unclear a number of factors have
been known to increase blood pressure. Changes either from genes, behavioral, or the
environment which disrupt the normal functions of the body may cause a rise in
blood pressure. Other factors that increase blood pressure are kidney fluid and salt
balances, the renin angiotensin aldosterone system, sympathetic nervous system
activity, and blood vessel structure and function (Bolivar, 2013). Since blood pressure
homeostasis is accomplished by multifactorial mechanisms if there is a change in one
of these mechanisms another attempts to correct this change in order to maintain a
normal blood pressure. When this system fails and blood pressure can no longer be
normalized by this method than essential hypertension results.
The kidneys regulate the body s salt balance by retaining sodium and water while
excreting potassium. Any imbalance in the kidneys function will expand blood
volumes causing blood pressure to rise. The renin angiotension aldosterone
Confucius Beliefs and Teachings
Confucius teaching with regard to the ideal person is focused on describing this
individual as someone who is willing to act in accordance with moral laws and with
the way of the heavens. He believed that people needed to be judged on account of
their merits rather than on their financial status. Confucian teaching promotes the
belief that education is one of the most important concepts in society and that an
educated individual is more likely to have an improved personality and to gain a
more complex understanding of the world as a result of his or her knowledge.
Humanity is the most significant element in Confucian thought and it supports the
belief that there are five primary concepts that a person needs to consider in order
for him or her to become the ideal individual. Ren is meant to portray humanity. Yi
represents the honesty that the respective person needs to employ. Li is the ritual
that he or she needs to take into account. Zhi stands as the knowledge that is
essential in order to achieve the ideal state. Xin is the integrity that a person has to
employ as he or she struggles to be in accordance with the Confucian understanding
of the ideal individual.
While some people might be inclined to believe that such thinking promotes
pessimism as individuals realize that it is very difficult and almost impossible for
them to become ideal persons, the reality is that Confucianism is actually optimistic
with regard to human nature. The fact that it promotes these values

  • 2. Charismatic Gifts Debate Essay Charismatic Gifts Debate By Mark Jones Theo 350 B05 September 26, 2010 1 The Charismatic Gifts Debate For my research paper I choose the charismatic gifts debate because coming from a Pentecostal/Charismatic background growing up in church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I saw the gifts in action. There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for today or have they ceased from the church. One side says that the gifts are in the past and is not relevant for the day that we live in and another side says that the gifts are still relevant for today. There is one group that says that if you do speak in tongues, then you are under demonic control and are not really saved. Both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again we need to look at how the Bible uses these words. In John 17:3 it says that This is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. (New American Standard Bible, 1995 revised). In that verse it talks about how having eternal life is to also knowing God. Also only the believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever is not known by Jesus (Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a kind of salvation knowing, it is a kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. He knows them and knows that they are saved. The unbelievers are not known and therefore are not saved. It would seem to be consistent with scripture to say that ...as I m fully known would refer to salvation relationship between the Christians and Jesus Christ. When the return of Christ comes, we as Christians will see him face to face. Another argument is that present day tongues are further revelation and then must be equal to scripture and ought to be included into the Bible. But since the Bible has nothing to add to it, the gift of tongues must no longer be valid. The problem with this argument is that faulty because recognizes revelation that cannot be added into the Bible. 1 Cor. 14:26 talks about the church in Corinth were revelations were revealed that were not included in the Bible. In this verse it
  • 3. The Meaningless Relationships In The Waste Land By T. S.... Abstract: This paper explains the changing human relationships due to the changes that have happened recently. I will utilize three types of relationships, love ,marriage and homosexual relationship that T.S.Eliot mobilized in the poem The Waste land .It is through the sections of the poem each particular episode delineates one fact about the trivial and unsuccessful relationship .The representation of these relationships is unproductive and unfruitful. Keywords: The Meaningless Relationships, Love relationship, Marriage relationship, and homosexual relationship. 2 The Meaningless Relationship: In the Modernized and materialistic societies that lack hope and a sense of significance, various aspects of life have lost their meaning and have been reduced to trivial and superficial thing. • 4. Stereotypes Of Being A Female Engineer competition was ahead of her against men. This shows how even females are able to pursue a career in engineering because the mentality are smart as men. In the career of engineer men are more likely to major in that career when attending college but the fact that a woman wants to major in the engineer career does not make her different from men. With this being said just the fact that gender is involved in the engineer career should be changed because women want to also be a part since women enjoy it for themselves. Common misconceptions that women face when majoring in engineering are that womens are not smart or do not know how to do math. According to the NC State News, an online article First Year Class Boasts Highest Percentage of Female Engineers, Mick Kulikowski includes statistics by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The class average math and critical reading SAT score are more than 1300 and the average ACT score is above 30 . This quote briefly goes over that fact that females who were first year class have a high results in the SAT and in the ACT this indicates that even as females they can still achieve high score that are needed for colleges. Gender engineer does not need to be a problem when women want to major in it because after all women and men are the same but just different genders. Stereotypes also exist for labeling women that major in engineer because people see a different perspective that identifies women that major in engineer. Stereotypes that are being used for women that particularly major in engineering are that women do not have the same capability as man s to handle this kind of job and also that this is shown as a men traditional job not for women. • 5. Men’s Conflict With Food, Weight, Shape Appearance Essay Why does the general public believe only women are victims of body image and eating disorders? Adolescent to adult males are dangerously preoccupied with the appearance of their bodies. The difference between men and women are men almost never talk openly about this problem. Society has taught them that they shouldn t be concerned about how they look. But countless numbers of men are sacrificing important aspectsof their lives to working out compulsively. This leads to distorted body images, which ties together with eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia (Adonis Complex.) The general public usually categorizes these disorders with women only. Women aren t the only victims; men are suffering too, but just silently. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their perception of the male body becomes skewed. On television these days, it seems as if the models stick together. It is rare to see an over weight person with a lean and muscular person. From my observation, women on television are usually tall and skinny with voluptuous curves. The men are tone with unrealistic chiseled features. I grew up spending a lot of time in front of the television, unaware that I was being subliminally brainwashed. Television is causing young males and females to develop a negative perception on what is seen as normal. During the earlier part of November, NBC broadcasted the 2001 Victoria Secret Fashion Show: The Sexiest Night on Television. This one hour event was broadcasted in prime time that featured tall, incredibly skinny, full featured women elegantly modeling lingerie. But in reality, it was just a tacky peepshow of emaciated women pumped full of silicone flaunting their bodies. It was a full hour of sugarcoated pornography, an hour of women whoring themselves to photographers. According to The View, a talk show, more than half of people who tuned were teenage girls. They were interested in what the general public deemed as beautiful. What was on television that night was nothing close to realistic. Imagine all the teenage girls who are completely mesmerized these women. To achieve that look, those models have to go through rigorous diets and dehydration. The lighting has
  • 6. Phineas Gage Summary Imagine your sitting at home watching the news, a reporter talks about a man surviving a three foot iron pole being blown through his skull and taking a chunk of his brain out. This was an actual story that happened to a man named Phineas Gage back in 1848, long before modern neuroscience and medication. Gage was a railroad track builder for the town of Cavendish, Vermont. While he was working, a man uses dynamite to blow away rocks that are blocking the way of the railroad tracks. The dynamite goes off to early and sends a tamping iron, a rod used for beating down earthly substance in tamping for blasting, straight through Gage s head. The rob goes through his left cheek and his eye, it splits his optic nerve, and then comes out his forehead. Gage lived through this horrible incident and he s was still able to speak and move around, but he was not the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It amazes me that this man was able to survive such a horrendous experience. I did some research on what parts of his brain were actually destroyed. The frontal lobes, limbic system, and anything in between the two were obliterated. As you all know, the frontal lobes deal mostly with receiving and coordinating messages from other lobes, while the limbic system controls your emotions and drives(hunger, dominance,etc.). So my prediction is that his limbic system was definitely abolished, but his frontal lobes were merely damaged. The fontal lobes also help the brain with motor control and speech production which Gage still had. So the only explanation I can come up with is that limbic system got shut down and the neurotransmitters shut down as well which stopped sending messages to the frontal lobe. With the frontal lobe not receiving any messages from the limbic system, Gages emotions went rampant, going from a really nice guy to a really not so nice guy. By knowing more about Mr. Gage and what he went through, I now know why he acted the way he
  • 7. Ontario Approach An Reflection Point Summary The article Provincial Municipal Relations in Ontario: Approaching an Inflection Point discusses how the relationship between provincial and municipal government in Ontario needs to adapt to changing circumstances as time goes on. In order for the relationship to adapt there needs to be more communication on what both levels of government roles and responsibilities are in order to better serve the province as partners. One of the strengths of this article is that it is broken up into sections to discuss different aspects of the provincial municipal relationship and how both levels of government can communicate to better understand their roles. The article also discusses financial issues and how the strengthening of the provincial municipal relationship can help combat the financial concerns on the horizon, such as the municipal infrastructure deficit. A weakness of this article is that although it provides many thoughtful examples of how the Ontario government has been able to strengthen the provincial and municipal relationship in the past, it needs to focus more on the solution as opposed to the examples. The past examples should be only to support the articles argument as opposed to being the argument itself.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the fact that many municipalities have different needs for their communities they need to communicate those needs to the province in order to get what they need. The textbook discusses the importance of these consultations because communication is the only way the province is going to be able to meet the demands of the municipality. Even though the province is seen as having more power they need to be able to provide the right support, therefore the municipality needs to take responsibility of stating what support and finances they
  • 8. Advice For Young Artists By Patti Smith Journal #1 Advice for Young Artists Patti Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois, but was raised in New Jersey. She currently resides in New York City, which is also where she made her name working as a musician and artist. In the video titled 8 Artists Advice to the Young she articulates that young artists should not concern themselves with money. She, instead, believes that they should focus on their work and their name, which will then translate into success. This advice appeals to me in all facets of life. If I focus on working hard, success will just be a by product of that hard work. Patti Smith has seemingly taken her own advice as she has been working on her craft, whether music, poetry, or visual arts, for nearly 45 years ( Patti Smith ). Anyone who devotes nearly half a decade into their artwork embodies focus. Furthermore, as Patti Smith expressed, this focus on one s work will translate into success, and for Patti Smith it has. The evaluation of success is subjective; however, it appears that Patti Smith has achieved success in all forms. Financially, her net worth is currently valued at $15 million ( Patti Smith Net Worth ). While critically, she was named one of Rolling Stone magazine s 100 greatest artists (100 Greatest Artists). Moreover, if success is measured with the legacy one leaves, it is important to note that Patti Smith serves as an inspiration to numerous musicians. • 9. The Shawchek Redemption And The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption (1994) was directed and written by Frank Darabont. It is an adaptation of the novella Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, written by Stephen King. The film received a lot of critical acclaim and was nominated for the 1994 Best Picture Academy Award. Many of King s literary works had been adapted to screen prior to the release of The Shawshank Redemption. Films including Stand By Me (1986) and The Shining (1980) establish King s name in the cinematic world. This notoriety would have been beneficial to the film as the director, Frank Darabont, had only ever directed a short film before, which was coincidentally also an adaptation of Stephen Kings The Woman In The Room. Fidelity can be difficult to accomplish when adapting written text to the screen as there are a different set of rules and limitations. Where a novel may have hundreds of pages, a film only has a few hours to convey the same message and meaning to the audience. A film must show the events whereas a written text can tell the reader what occurred. In the novella, Red is introduced before Andy. The entire story is from his point of view. As the narrator of the novella, Red feels that before he can talk about Andy he has to explain a few other things about [him]self (2012, p.4). The reader gains more of an insight into Red and his past than is in the film. In The Shawshank Redemption the audience is initially shown Andy on the night of the murder of his wife and her lover. As for Southern California the alluring beaches, rolling grass valleys, and various other attractions make for a significant difference to northern California. The difference in environments has a great impact on the type of people that live in each region. An individual s race, ethnicity, hobbies, political views, job, etc. all can have an impact on what area of California they live in. Some people, including myself enjoy a lot of outdoor activities that fit well in Northern California areas such as hunting, hiking, snowboarding, etc. Meanwhile, people that live in southern California may have much different outdoor hobbies due to the change in climate. What new insights I have gained is that it is important to look at the factors that may cause sundowning in each person because factors that may be a part of sundowning could be different for each resident and it must not be looked at the same for everyone. For example, if a resident has a urinary tract infection or some other medical condition that contributes to sundowning that would need to be addressed. If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day confusion different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the same. Of course, sundowning can affect people differently such as types of behaviors that might occur and it would be important to know what those behaviors are especially if it is aggression. The social worker, nurses, CNA s and others that work with the resident would need to be careful if someone gets aggressive and know what to do for safety reasons. In addition, by knowing to look for the factors that could be causing it measures can be taken to try to address it or prevent it beforehand that would be the best practice. Tips for reducing sundowning: Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities. Plan for activities and exposure to light during the day to encourage nighttime sleepiness. Limit daytime napping. Limit caffeine and sugar to morning hours. Keep a night light on to reduce agitation that occurs when surroundings are dark or unfamiliar. In the evening,

Why is this day celebrated today? It is celebrated because it is a tradition that dates back many years, celebrates loved ones who have died, and it helps family remember their loves ones. To begin, Day of the Dead was stared in the 15th century by the Aztec people. The Aztec people believed in human sacrifice. Despite being used in only one percent of criminal cases, DNA tests have helped to acquit over 25 percent of wrongfully accused suspects ( Can DNA Demand a Verdict? /Baird, Neufeld, and Scheck, 34). As of 2008, over 120 countries use some sort of forensic DNA analysis in cases like these ( INTERPOL Global DNA Profiling ). Usage: In order to analyze DNA, scientists require a sample of the individual being tested, such as blood, semen, or hair, before they can create a genetic profile of the person (Petricevic 1). Scientists can then analyze those samples using a

This band has underwent many changes, some good and others bad throughout their thirty or so years of performing. I plan to prove that a band that has remained together for thirty plus years isn t as easy as many would assume. In fact I would have to say the down times in the band almost equal the outrageously great time they had. Despite all the down times the amazing music of the Grateful Dead always made it possible to bring smiles to empty faces anytime anywhere. • 34. What Is Chaucer s Portrayal Of Women In The Canterbury Tales From Geoffrey Chaucer to Donald Trump, history has seductively seen women pinned as the lesser of the sexes, poked as the inferior to the male, prodded as subject to their authority. Sexism infiltrates all aspects of a female s life: from at home, to work, to worship there is little to no escape. It was not until the 20th century when a motion dubbed Feminism sparked and ignited women everywhere, no matter their location on the globe, to fight for their rights. However, the women of the late 14th century stood alone as the counterpart to men, the fully dependent creature. The 1392 prologue of The Canterbury Talesembodies the portrayal of women during this time period: Geoffrey Chaucer, the male author, exerts his dominance with a mocking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through her characterization, Chaucer portrays the prioress as a religious woman with good table manners: at meat her manners were well taught withal; not morsel from her lips did she let fall (Chaucer 131) and in courtliness she had a special zest (Chaucer 136). He also illustriously depicts what is on the woman s body, a coral trinket on her arm, a set of beads, the gaudies tricked in green, whence hung a brooch of brightest sheen (Chaucer 163 165). Women in Medieval times were expected to not pay much attention to attire, yet she did. While it never is explicitly stated, Chaucer implies that she is a woman of a wealthy family and of good lineage. He consistently exerts that she gained position by means of endowment: possibly her husband was without a brother or son and she received his wealth. At the beginning of her section in the prologue, Geoffrey Chaucer states that her greatest oath was by Saint Loy (Chaucer 124). While the footnote states Saint Loy is a reference to Saint Eligius, the patron saint of goldsmiths and courtiers, many scholars believe this line is an unbelievable use of comic irony by the author. Robert Fleissner argues in Neuphilologische Mitteilungen in the section That Oath of the Prioress that Chaucer implies that the name Loy may represent such a subliminal play on words, reflecting the Old French for loi (meaning law). Further, the effect of the nun s profanity is that by taking an oath by the Law per se, she was not only refraining from actual swearing in the secular sense, but repudiating the very notion of unprincipled swearing (Fleissner 98). Conclusively, the nun is intelligent beyond the boundaries of education for women during that
  • 35. Examples Of Adaptation In Harry Potter We are constantly surrounded by adaptations, from BBC One s adaptation of Ann Cleeves Shetland, to Harry Potter. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we long always strive for meaning in everything, adaptation can allow us to see new meanings in what we watch and take something we would not necessarily have seen in the original. Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for instance a play onto the big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new concept and ideals occur for the adaptation. Adaptations are palimpsests, for example, in the Harry Potter films they take from the books that Ginny is in love with Harry and all the girls want to be her friend, however in the films she is mainly seen as helplessly in love with Harry and not much is seen regarding her life at Hogwarts. Adaptations can be both good and bad, however they openly admit being an adaptation, so they must adhere to having a connection to the original. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One goes out to eat at a restaurant for several reasons including not wanting to cook, to share an outing with a friend or family member, or to celebrate a special occasion. When going out to eat, there are three distinct criteria that one must look at in order to determine if a restaurant does or does not meet a patron s expectations. These criteria include the menu, quality of food, and the price of the food. On a recent trip to visit a Mexican restaurant, Mi Tierra, where I had never been before, I applied these three criteria to determine if I would make a return visit to this establishment. One of the first things that I looked at, besides the restaurant s dГѓ cor, where there was much to be desired, was the restaurant s culinary offerings. Like many Mexican restaurants, the first thing that is brought to our table is a basket of tortilla chips and a side of salsa. I would not have given this Mexican restaurant staple a second thought except for the mention in the menu that the first basket of chips is complimentary and any subsequent basket would be charged at $1.50, which I found particularly peculiar since no Mexican restaurant I have ever been to has this exception. While I perused the menu, I noticed that it was chockfull of Mexican staples tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and chiles rellenos most with the standard side of rice and beans. Prospero and Caliban s relationship is strained from the beginning of the play when Prospero s strong authoritative beliefs begin to surface. Caliban has the right of ownership of the island; however, Prospero firmly believes in the superiority of the white European over the half devil islander. The first alternative solution is to establish an anonymous donor program, where organs are donated and received from complete strangers. An advantage to an anonymous donor program would be that, it would eliminate the social bias and the medical bias. On the other hand, a disadvantage would be that, the recipient of the organ would know nothing about the donor. That could present issues for someone that uses their religion to guide their decision when choosing an organ donor. The second alternative solution is a reward system of organ donation. People that donate organs could receive money in return for their donation. That money could either come from the recipient of the organ, or an established organization. A disadvantage to a reward system of organ donation is that, people would be donating organs for the extrinsic value of the act, instead of doing it to help the greater good of someone else. Another problem that could arise is that, people would begin to feel entitled to receiving an organ if they are wealthy or come from a high level of society.
