Mission The mission of the Arbor Public Library is to be the place where the cultural heritage of the community thrives, the way to receive information is as diverse as the people who need it, and quality service is as plentiful as the ideas individuals bring in.
History and Background Founded September 2004  28 th  library in the Pima County Public Library system Wilfred T. Sloan Technology Grant
Westside Development Area Southwest side of Tucson  Just under 1,400 people  Over half, 58.6%, of the residents are married  71.4% of families do not have children  The largest age groups are people in their forties, fifties and twenties 35% of the population speaking a language other than English  The average income is $56,396, which is higher than normal for both Tucson and the United States in general.

Being a proud part of the Pima County Public Library System we naturally share the same vision, but as a branch we are here to grow as our community grows and to be a starting point for new possibilities.   As we explore new possibilities we are counting on our staff to offer ideas and solutions and to carry those ideas and solutions out into our community so that there is a feeling that the members are an integral part of this process as well.   As the years go by we will become an established and rooted part of the community and its traditions.  We will become established because the community will think of us first in regards to meeting their needs and wants for information.  They will know that we offer a place where their knowledge, culture, and experiences are respected and they can expand their aspirations, hopes, and dreams through any format they like whether it be through technology or print and paper.   Our emphasis is on meeting individual and community needs - this is our reason for being, and it is the reason we are constantly refining our programs and services  Vision Statement

Sample Curriculum  Tuesday, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Career Planning Resume building websites, Job search engines, tips on negotiating for raises, conflict resolution in the workplace, How to transition from one field to another, resources for people who want to go back to school or learn new trades  Thursday, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Traveling Smart value of a travel agent, where to find cheap accommodations, hidden treasures, best vacation ideas for kids, how to make a travel budget, when is the best time to travel, most important things to pack, travel safety
New Position: Community Programs Librarian Takes a leadership role in the design and implementation of new program  Teaches some of these programs  Supervises other employees who teach these programs  Develops and administers surveys and other measurement devices to track the progress of these and other programs and services   Analyzes results and prepares recommendations for improvements to programs and services
