INTRODUCTION
 An electronic program guide (EPG) is a feature commonly found in television and digital media
devices that provides users with a schedule of upcoming television programs or other media
content.
 It is essentially an interactive on-screen guide that allows users to browse and navigate through
the available channels and their programming.
 EPGs display information such as program titles, descriptions, start and end times, episode
details, and sometimes even additional metadata like ratings.
 They typically cover a range of channels and can span multiple days, providing users with a
comprehensive overview of what is currently airing and what will be broadcasted in the future.
 The purpose of an electronic program guide is to help viewers to explore the available content,
plan their viewing schedules, and set reminders for their favorite shows or events.
 EPGs can be accessed through various devices, including television set-top boxes, digital video
recorders (DVRs), smart TVs, and media streaming platforms.
 They are an integral part of modern television and media consumption, enhancing the viewing

TYPES OF EPG
1. Grid-based EPG: This type of EPG displays program schedules in a grid format, usually organizedby
channels horizontallyand time slots vertically. It allows users to easily navigatethrough different
channels and time slots to view program details.
2. Interactive EPG: An interactive EPG provides additionalfeatures and functionalities beyondbasic
program listings. It allows users to search for programs,filter content by genre or keywords, set
reminders or notifications for favorite shows, and even access additionalinformation such as program
descriptions,cast details, and user ratings.
3. Catch-up TV EPG: This type of EPG is commonly found in (VOD) video-on-demandservices or smart
TVs. It enables users to access previouslyaired programs and watch them on demand.
4. Personalized EPG: A personalized EPG tailors the program listings and recommendationsbased on
user preferences, viewing history, and behavior.It utilizes algorithms to analyze user data and provide
personalized content suggestionsand recommendations.
5. Multi-platform EPG: This type of EPG is designed to work across different devices and platforms,
