Beekeeping, also known as apiculture, is the maintenance of honey bee colonies, commonly in man-made hives, by humans. Honey bees live in colonies and a typical honey bee hive contains up to 60,000 bees. The beekeeper ensures the hive has the proper environment for the bees to thrive by providing them with space to live and storing their excess honey.
