What any person in the world can learn almost all persons can learn if provided with appropriate
prior and current conditions of learning (Bloom, 2017). This belief was held by Dr. Bloom in
1956 when he and his team created Bloom s Taxonomy. Since then educators have been utilizing
these goals of the learning process (Clark, 2015) and making assumptions of its usage and
implications. I too did have assumptions but have not thought about how I developed them or how
they would affect my use of the taxonomy. When starting this reflection I held three assumptions
true about Bloom s Taxonomy. The first is if the educator uses Bloom s Taxonomy for planning
through assessment, then the student will develop higher order thinking skills. Secondly, a
student can move on to a higher order thinking level only if they first mastered a lower order
thinking level. Thirdly, if educations use different levels of Bloom s Taxonomy in lessons students
will retain more information. Interestingly, I uncovered two additional assumptions that I did not
know I had. The first of which is that the focus on cognitive development of Bloom s devalues
importance of other domains. The other is that Bloom s Taxonomy is used only by educators in K

Though out this class I learned a lot, I never really read much poetry and did not realize how
much meaning poems can have. I am glad that we read so many different types and styles of
poems and books. It really helped me get a well rounded understanding of poetry. My favorite unit
was the collection unit. The other poems we read taught me a lot about the other topics we
touched on as well. Before this class I never really gave poetrymuch thought, this class opened up
my eyes to how important poetry really is. The poem that stood out to me the most from the
speaker, and narrative vs lyric unit was Lorena by Lucille Clifton. I really enjoyed this poem and
it made it easy for me to understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but
wrote it about a experience Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a
poem could have a speaker other then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the
author is not necessarily the speaker. I thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on
itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she
herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative,

Esperanza Ortega of El Rancho de las Rosas is a young Hispanic girl that must overcome
strenuous obstacles in order to help her family. The novel Esperanza Rising by Pam MuГ±oz Ryan
has many symbols that contribute to the theme, but one of the major motifs present is the process

Esperanza goes through on her migration to California. This symbol is both in a literal and a
figurative sense. Esperanza literally starts at the top in Mexico. She lives on acres of land in a
beautiful vineyard, she has servants, and is well educated. But when trouble arrives, Esperanza
must go to the bottom of the valley in California. Here she has nothing; she lives in a small
house in an immigrant farm, she works hard every day, and she does not know any English. Life
as she knew it had completely changed. Migrating to a new place that is unknown, everyone is

It really seems that this is the mind set of everyone who has ever owned some piece of
technology that has truly enhanced their life. This to me is sad that someone can let something
so small and so not worth it, in the grand picture, control how they live out their existence they
call life. I know that it is harsh, but it is clear to me that if we do noting to divert from the part
we are currently on then will have to face that day where there are no more innovations, no more
super super super computers to rely on, and no more life as we once new it. I think that, not want
that, but believe that it will take some huge meltdown of the system to truly show how we are
being controlled by something that we created. There inevitably will be some glitch or some
malfunction in some piece of hardware that will show us how reliant we are and how wrong we
were in putting a machine before human interest.
In my own life I have seen technology grow at a pace that is unmatched by anything else in history.
We have let this great thing influence everything from national security to human conversation.
Don t get me wrong, I think that the most of the innovations are for the better and will, in the long
run, strive to better our society. But, what I am hesitant about is that will there be a point where
someone will say enough is enough. Will future generations be able to make that distinction and
