This document provides an overview of nephrology services in Antigua and Barbuda. It notes that the country has a population of around 82,000 people and one public hospital. It estimates that between 8,000-10,000 people have chronic kidney disease and around 80 patients have kidney failure requiring dialysis. The number of dialysis patients has been growing at around 20% per year. Most dialysis patients are older than 45 and have diabetes or hypertension as the cause of their kidney disease. The challenges to care include limited resources and the high cost of treatment.
