• Sternal Puncture allows Bone Marrow Aspiration for
diagnostic purposes.
• Part of bony rib can be used for Autologous Bone
Graft.
• Perichondrium over anterior costal cartilage are incised
in ‘H’- shape for Anterior Thoracotomy.
• Postero-lateral Thoracotomy entails sub-periosteal
resection of a rib, to get the access provided by 2
adjacent Intercostal Spaces
• 5th Intercostal Space in Mid-axillary Line allows
Intercostal Drainage and Pleural Tap
