PABSON and NPABSAN have been charging fees from students to take practice SLC exams, which is illegal under Education Regulations. ANNISU-R demands the government take action against these organizations and return the fees to students. If no action is taken, ANNISU-R warns of protests. It also demands the government implement agreements on transport fares and commodity prices, and not implement the semester system at Tribhuvan University campuses in the capital valley.

1. ANNISU-R seeks action against PABSON‚ NPABSAN
UCPN-Maoist aligned All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary
(ANNISU-R) has demanded that the government take action against those collecting fees from
students to conduct School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Send-up test, which is not legal, as per
Education Regulations.
Issuing a press statement here today, the student union condemned Private and Boarding Schools
Organisation Nepal (PABSON) and National Private and Boarding Schools Association Nepal
(NPABSAN) for charging fees from students in the name of practice test.
The statement said, “The government should take action against such schools and organisations
and return the money back to the students.”
It also warned of tough action against institutions if the government failed to take appropriate
action and return the money to students.
According to the sixth amendment to Education Regulations, a 10th grader with 70 per cent
attendance in class is eligible to appear in the SLC examination.
However, PABSON, NPABSAN and other organisations have been conducting SLC Send-up
tests.
Meanwhile, Department of Education has asked PABSON to furnish written clarification for
charging fees from students to conduct Send-up tests.
DoE had already instructed all District Education Offices across the country through the five
Regional Education Directorates on December 31, 2014 to take action against schools that
conduct send-up examinations against the Education Regulations.
Similarly, the union also demanded that the government implement the agreement reached
earlier in relation to adjusting the public transport fare as well as prices of daily commodities and
others.
ANNISU-R warned of protest if the Semester System was implemented in the Constituent
Campuses of Tribhuvan University in the Valley.
The statement also reads that its Vice-president Ramesh Malla has been nominated coordinator
for conducting the 20th National Convention after the resignation of Himal Sharma, the union’s
president, was approved by the mother party yesterday.
Sharma had tendered his resignation from his post four months ago.
