The Novena for the Family was written to help people to turn to St Josemaria’s intercession for the everyday needs of their families, but also for families who are going through hard times or a family crisis.
The person who composed the three novenas, Fr Francisco Faus, explained: “What moved me to write the three novenas to St Josemaria was my love for the founder of Opus Dei. I lived near him for two years in Rome (from October 1953 to July 1955) and then in Brazil during May-June 1974). That was an inestimably great grace for me.”
Fr Francisco continued: “This filial love for someone I always saw as a father – the Father –, and the devotion which, like thousands of others, I feel for him, impelled me to prepare these novenas and circulate them. I thought they might be a popular, simple, accessible way of introducing many people to St Josemaria’s teachings and to his intercession and help.”
Fr Francisco Faus, born in Barcelona in 1931, is a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. He graduated in law at the University of Barcelona and did a doctorate in canon law at the University of St Thomas Aquinas, Rome. He was ordained in 1955 and has lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil since 1961, doing pastoral work with university students, workers, priests and seminarians. He has written several spiritual books.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Twenty-one-student unions aligned to ruling parties and parties in opposition have jointly
demanded that political parties sit for dialogue and forge consensus for peace and constitution.
Issuing a joint statement after holding a meeting on February 7, the student unions said real
peace and constitution was only possible through dialogue and consensus between the political
forces that emerged through a process of revolution. The meeting held yesterday has also warned
Pokhara University (PU) and Council For Technical Education and Vocational Training
(CTEVT) of stern protest if the demands of their students were not addressed at the earliest.
PU and CTEVT had decided to hike the re-totaling and Proficiency Certificate Level Nursing
fees respectively. Ramesh Malla, coordinator, UCPN-Maoist aligned All Nepal National
Independent Students Union-Revolutionary, said the meeting also decided to focus their agitation
on regularising the academic calendar of Tribhuvan University.
He said, “We are going to put pressure on the government to implement agreement on various
issues such as supply of LP Gas in an easy way, implementation of dual pricing system in LP
Gas, among others.
