LOCUS 2015 is the 12th annual technology festival organized by undergraduate engineering students at the Institute of Engineering in Pulchowk, Nepal from February 20-22. The theme is "Technology for the Future" and it will include competitions in various areas like quizzes, presentations, hackathons and startup pitches, focusing on social development and green technology. Over 30,000 visitors are expected to attend the three day event, and the application deadline is February 13.

1. LOCUS 2015 on February 20
The annual technology festival LOCUS organized by undergraduate engineering students of the
Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Central Campus is coming with its 12th edition in
February. The three-day festival, starting February 20, will have the theme ‘Technology for
Future’.
The organizing committee invites applications from students at secondary and higher secondary
level as well as those from the Bachelor’s level. The event will include a number of competitions
and will also encourage projects by the students. There will also be inter-college quiz contest,
paper presentations, panel discussion programs, hackathon and code jams. According to the press
release issued by the committee, it will also ‘incorporate several hardware and software projects
based on the sub-categories of Social Development and Green Technology’.
Interestingly, there is also a new space for participants with an entrepreneurial side to them.
Media coordinator Naman Nepal says, “Unlike past years, this year’s LOCUS also aims to
showcase several startup ideas by engineering students and provide them a platform to blend
their proposal in corporate and business sectors.”
Aavas Gajurel, coordinator of committee, adds, “We aim to promote projects done by
engineering students through interactive and healthy level competitions that are based on social
development and green technology this time.”
LOCUS 2015 is expected to bring in 30,000 visitors during the event.
