Welcome: Anne Frank Webquest
Description: Students will explore the life of Anne Frank, and create a diary
of their own like Anne Frankā€™s. They will also have to creatively design
a timeline of the holocaust in small groups.

INTRODUCTION
Anne Frank was born on June 12,1929 into a middle class, Jewish family
in Germany. After the events of the Holocaust began to take place, the
Frank family was forced to go into hiding for 25 months. You are going
to research further, Anne and her family, but specifically Anne. As you
research you are going to create your own diary of events as if you were
in hiding yourself.
TASK
You will be completing two tasks throughout this webquest. One is to
create a personal journal as though you are in hiding and in the
concentration camp. This should relate how you believe Anne would be
feeling and what she would be thinking. You will also create a timeline
with a small group. This time line will follow the short life of Anne
Frank.
PROCESS
Journal
1. By yourself, you will research the life of Anne Frank before,
during, and after the Holocaust.
2. After you finish researching you will be given a journal, in which
you will recreate your own diary as if you were living during the
Holocaust.
3. Imagine you are Anne Frank; write 3 diary entries while you are
in hiding.
4. You must also create 1 entry as if you were in a concentration
camp.
Group Timeline
1. You will be assigned a small group
2. Each group should decide on at least 8 events that they want to
include on the timeline of Anne Frankā€™s life.
3. After gathering information, the group should create a timeline
with whatever materials they choose (paper, poster board,
photos, drawings, etc.).
Use the Following information to gather knowledge
about Anne Frank and her life:
Anne Frank- Anne was a young girl living during the time of the
Holocaust, as a Jew. She and her family were forced into hiding, but after
a while, their hiding place was discovered.

CONCLUSION
Upon completion of this Anne Frank Webquest, students should have a
better understanding and appreciation of the life of not only Anne Frank, but
also everyone else who endured the horrible consequences of the Holocaust.
Students should be able to place themselves in the situation of another person
and imagine what they must be feeling and thinking.

Anne frank webquest

  • 1. WELCOME Welcome: Anne Frank Webquest Description: Students will explore the life of Anne Frank, and create a diary of their own like Anne Frankā€™s. They will also have to creatively design a timeline of the holocaust in small groups. Grade Level: 5 Curriculum: English/Social Studies Author: Kayla Triplett
  • 2. INTRODUCTION Anne Frank was born on June 12,1929 into a middle class, Jewish family in Germany. After the events of the Holocaust began to take place, the Frank family was forced to go into hiding for 25 months. You are going to research further, Anne and her family, but specifically Anne. As you research you are going to create your own diary of events as if you were in hiding yourself.
  • 3. TASK You will be completing two tasks throughout this webquest. One is to create a personal journal as though you are in hiding and in the concentration camp. This should relate how you believe Anne would be feeling and what she would be thinking. You will also create a timeline with a small group. This time line will follow the short life of Anne Frank.
  • 4. PROCESS Journal 1. By yourself, you will research the life of Anne Frank before, during, and after the Holocaust. 2. After you finish researching you will be given a journal, in which you will recreate your own diary as if you were living during the Holocaust. 3. Imagine you are Anne Frank; write 3 diary entries while you are in hiding. 4. You must also create 1 entry as if you were in a concentration camp. Group Timeline 1. You will be assigned a small group 2. Each group should decide on at least 8 events that they want to include on the timeline of Anne Frankā€™s life.
  • 5. 3. After gathering information, the group should create a timeline with whatever materials they choose (paper, poster board, photos, drawings, etc.). Use the Following information to gather knowledge about Anne Frank and her life: Anne Frank- Anne was a young girl living during the time of the Holocaust, as a Jew. She and her family were forced into hiding, but after a while, their hiding place was discovered.   • 6. EVALUATION 4 3 2 1 Diary Entry Excellent point of view, in depth thoughts toward situation. Descriptions and topics go along with Anne Frank. Little to no grammatical errors. Appropriate descriptions, and point of view. Entries are in character. Few grammatical errors. Point of view and descriptions are somewhat in character. Multiple grammatical errors. Point of view and descriptions of surroundings are not in appropriate character for the assignment. Multiple grammatical errors. Timeline Very creative, more than 8 events included, great use of images. Creative layout, 8 events included, average use of images. Somewhat creative, 5-7 events included, little to no use of images Non-creative layout, 1-4 events included, no use of images.

CONCLUSION Upon completion of this Anne Frank Webquest, students should have a better understanding and appreciation of the life of not only Anne Frank, but also everyone else who endured the horrible consequences of the Holocaust. Students should be able to place themselves in the situation of another person and imagine what they must be feeling and thinking.
