TECHNICAL QUALITY
WALK CYCLE: MY WALK CYCLE WAS MADE USING PHOTOSHOP, THIS MEANT THE
ANIMATION OF WALKING WAS SLIGHTLY JUMPY AT TIMES, BUT I THINK IT STILL WAS
SMOOTH ENOUGH TO LOOK PROFESSIONAL.
PARALLAX SCROLLING: MY ANIMATION INCLUDED PARALLAX SCROLLING, THIS
HELPS BOOST UP THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO. IT MAKES THE WHOLE ANIMATION
LOOK MORE 3D AND REALISTIC.
SHOT TYPES: AS MY ANIMATION WAS QUITE SHORT IT WAS HARD TO INCLUDE LOTS
OF DIFFERENT SHOT TYPES, HOWEVER I DID INCLUDE SHOTS THAT YOU WOULD
TYPICALLY SEE IN A TV PROGRAM, CLOSE UPS OF THINGS HAPPENING, SWAPPING
BETWEEN SUBJECTS WHEN THE ATTENTION IS ON THEM ETC.

CREATIVE QUALITY
CHARACTERISATION: IN MY ANIMATION I HAVE TWO CHARACTERS, THE FIRST BEING
THE DOG, TO HELP ME CREATE THIS CHARACTER I USED MY OWN DOG TO BASE THE
LOOKS AROUND. THE SECOND CHARCTER(S) IS THE BOWL OF CEREAL, THIS
CHARACTER WAS A LOT HARDER TO DESIGN AND WAS VERY RANDOM.
SCRIPT: THE ONLY DIALOGUE IN THIS VIDEO WAS THE SCREAMING OF THE BOWL OF
CEREAL.

PROFESSIONAL INFLUENCE
WALT DISNEY WAS BORN IN AMERICA AND WAS THE CREATOR
OF MICKEY MOUSE. ALONG WITH THIS HE CO-FOUNDED ʻTHE
WALT DISNEY COMPANYʼ WHO PRODUCED SOME OF THE MOST
WELL KNOWN CARTOONS AND ANIMATIONS IN THE WORLD.
SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS TASK I LOOKED AT HIS ANIMATIONS
SUCH AS ‘STEAMBOAT WILLIE’ AS THE STYLE OF THIS I REALLY
ENJOY, AND WAS SOMETHING I WANTED TO REPLICATE IN MY
ANIMATION. THE SKETCHY LOOK IS SOMETHING I REALLY LIKED.

WHEN CREATING MY ANIMATION I HAD A YOUNG TEEN TARGET AUDIENCE IN MIND.
MY CHARACTERS, ENERGY, ATMOSPHERE, AND HUMOUR OF THIS ANIMATION IS WHAT WILL
ATTRACT IT TO MY AUDIENCE, IT USES THE SAME KIND OF HUMOUR THAT YOUNGER TEENS
ENJOY, AND IT ALSO HAS FRIENDLY CHARACTERS THAT WOULD APPEAL TO THIS AUDIENCE.

SOFTWARE
PHOTOSHOP: I USED PHOTOSHOP TO CREATE MY MAIN CHARACTER, THIS IS BECAUSE I
NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO SLIGHTLY EDIT THE CHARACTER REALLY EASY AND THEN SAVE IT
AGAIN AND THIS WAS JUST A SIMPLER TASK IN PHOTOSHOP COMPARED TO OTHER
SOFTWARE. I ALSO WANTED THE MAIN CHARACTER TO HAVE A MORE SELF DRAWN LOOK TO
IT. WHEN CREATING THE CHARACTER IN PHOTOSHOP I USED A GRAPHICS TABLET TO HELP
ME GET BETTER & SMOOTHER LINES.
ILLUSTRATOR: I USED ILLUSTRATOR TO CREATE THE BACKGROUND LAYERS, THIS IS
BECAUSE THESE WOULD NOT NEED EDITING AS THE ANIMATION WENT ONWARDS. I ALSO
LIKED HAVING THE OPTION TO SCALE THEM UP AND DOWN WITHOUT EFFECTING THE
QUALITY AS THEY WERE VECTOR IMAGES.
