This document discusses analyzing postgraduates' motivation for writing master's dissertations. It finds that postgraduate students face pressure to finish their studies within candidacy periods, which can lead to demotivation. A study was conducted using questionnaires to explore rhetorical problems faced by 72 postgraduate students writing dissertations. The findings showed that intrinsic and extrinsic goals were a high priority for understanding dissertation requirements. Factors like audience, exigency, and topic can influence learners' motivation to write. Understanding motivational factors is important for supporting postgraduate students in dissertation writing.
