This document defines and discusses the structure and characteristics of analytical exposition texts. It states that analytical exposition texts aim to convince readers of an important topic by providing arguments and opinions to support a main idea. The structure includes a thesis introducing the topic, arguments supporting the main idea, and a reiteration concluding the main points. Characteristics of the language used include simple present tense, relational processes, and conjunctions linking ideas. An example analytical exposition text on banning cars from cities is provided to illustrate the typical structure.
