PROBLEM STATEMENT
Which strategies and techniques can be used
for the enhancement of the vocabulary
retention skills for 1st graders at Safari School,
Santa Ana, 2017?
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To determine the strategies and techniques that
allow the improvement of the vocabulary
retention skills of first graders at Safari School,
Santa Ana, aiming the creation a new
perspective on the use of interactive materials.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• To identify the most frequent English vocabulary
problems in elementary school graders with the
purpose of determining the best techniques and
strategies.
• To describe the methodology implemented by
teachers, allowing the formulation of actions that
improve the academic outcome of the students.
• To examine the effectiveness of the musical, rhythmic and
virtual activities promoted in the institution, allowing the
adaptation of successful experiences.
• To acknowledge the interactive activities carried at home,
with the purpose of facilitating the involvement of parents
in the teaching-learning process
• To propose a set of educational strategies that facilitates
the implementation of interactive activities for the
improvement of the vocabulary retention skills in the
students.

Education is not a preparation for life, rather it is the living. Education
is the process of living through a continuous reconstruction of
experiences. It is the development of all those capacities in the
individual which will enable him to control his environment and fulfil
his possibilities.

As the rest of the Latin American countries, Costa Rica
confronts the necessity to adjust its social and economic system to
face the changes that take place at international level
Objectives of the education in Costa Rica
The formation of civic lovers of their Homeland.
To contribute to the complete development of the human
personality.
To form citizens for a democracy in which reconcile the
individual's interests with those of the community.
To stimulate the development of the solidarity and the
human understanding.

compare effectiveness of different methods on a specific
population
• Population: 6 years old students at the Safari School
• Sample: 26 kids (16 boys and 10 girls)

The programs of today are not based on the need

Parents pay more attention to those activities that
implicate a grade rather than those that just want
to form the student.
There is a lot of technological resources, but they
are not being included in students learning

Use varied activities and take into account the learning
styles and multiple intelligences
Adequate the activities according to students needs and
interests
Use English as possible
Parents must be involved in the learning process

Articulate learning, use and habit the language
Technology must be included in the classroom and at

TECHNOLOGICAL INTERFACE THAT
ENABLES STUDENTS TO IMPROVE
THEIR RETENTION OF VOCABULARY
AT SAFARI SCHOOL 2017
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To create an interface that facilitates the work of teachers
and enables the learning process and retain vocabulary in
an interactive way at Safari School
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To design a website that is user friendly and that includes wide-
ranging of activities for retaining more vocabulary in practical
uses.
To train facilitators on how the interface is an effective tool
within the English classroom.
To model actions and vocabulary for the students with an
amalgamation of attractive and interactive way of learning.

Using the MEP programs and other resources in order to
prepare the curriculum that is going to be prepared and
displayed in the website.
DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
One of the findings in this research is the fact that some
facilitators avoid the use of technological tools within the
classroom. It is assumed that it takes a lot of time,
sometimes the information is not adequate for the level or
cognitive target that is being covered.
PUBLICATION AND
PUBLICITY
TRAINING
The website is friendly with the user, so that it gets intuitive.
However, it is important to induct the new consumers by
giving tips and videos on the benefits of the website.
IMPLEMENTATION
This proposal is going to be implemented in 2018 at Safari
School, but it will be accessible for the public in December
2017. The enrollment will be for free by email account, and
the user can contribute by donating money to the owners of
the page
IMPACTS OF THE PROPOSAL
• INSTITUTIONAL IMPACT
• Having a website that goes accordingly to the MEP
programs allow the user to trust on content, so the
school will be positively impacted because it will allow
the administration to standard the learning style and
contents covered by each instructor. It can also be part
of their new features to make publicity that may
generate more customers.
• COMMUNITY AND WORLWIDE IMPACT
• If it is on the web everyone can have it; this premise
can spawn a spreading effect on parents, instructors
and school that is being put to service to whoever who
wants to retain more vocabulary of English.

 Interactive activities and technology.
 Doing research on MEP Programs for beginners.
 Research on tests to motivate instructors to a more
standardized way of teaching and the importance of
the role of technology in the English classroom.

  • 2. PROBLEM STATEMENT Which strategies and techniques can be used for the enhancement of the vocabulary retention skills for 1st graders at Safari School, Santa Ana, 2017?
  • 3. GENERAL OBJECTIVE To determine the strategies and techniques that allow the improvement of the vocabulary retention skills of first graders at Safari School, Santa Ana, aiming the creation a new perspective on the use of interactive materials.
  • 4. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES • To identify the most frequent English vocabulary problems in elementary school graders with the purpose of determining the best techniques and strategies. • To describe the methodology implemented by teachers, allowing the formulation of actions that improve the academic outcome of the students.
  • 5. • To examine the effectiveness of the musical, rhythmic and virtual activities promoted in the institution, allowing the adaptation of successful experiences. • To acknowledge the interactive activities carried at home, with the purpose of facilitating the involvement of parents in the teaching-learning process • To propose a set of educational strategies that facilitates the implementation of interactive activities for the improvement of the vocabulary retention skills in the students.   • 8. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Education is not a preparation for life, rather it is the living. Education is the process of living through a continuous reconstruction of experiences. It is the development of all those capacities in the individual which will enable him to control his environment and fulfil his possibilities. John Dewey As the rest of the Latin American countries, Costa Rica confronts the necessity to adjust its social and economic system to face the changes that take place at international level

Objectives of the education in Costa Rica The formation of civic lovers of their Homeland. To contribute to the complete development of the human personality. To form citizens for a democracy in which reconcile the individual's interests with those of the community. To stimulate the development of the solidarity and the human understanding. METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK • Mixed method: the researcher needs a number of people to compare effectiveness of different methods on a specific population • Population: 6 years old students at the Safari School • Sample: 26 kids (16 boys and 10 girls) Parents 1 English teacher • Instruments and data collection: • Observation • Interview • Questionnaire

  • 29. CONCLUSIONS Vocabulary problems are the product of a bad preparation of students Mostly Spanish is the language spoken in the classroom Instructors do not control properly the use of English in the classroom

CONCLUSIONS The programs of today are not based on the need of students Parents pay more attention to those activities that implicate a grade rather than those that just want to form the student. There is a lot of technological resources, but they are not being included in students learning
  • 31. RECOMMENDATIONS Use varied activities and take into account the learning styles and multiple intelligences Adequate the activities according to students needs and interests Use English as possible Parents must be involved in the learning process

  • 34. PROPOSAL FOR THE USE OF A TECHNOLOGICAL INTERFACE THAT ENABLES STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR RETENTION OF VOCABULARY AT SAFARI SCHOOL 2017
  • 35. GENERAL OBJECTIVE To create an interface that facilitates the work of teachers and enables the learning process and retain vocabulary in an interactive way at Safari School
  • 36. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES To design a website that is user friendly and that includes wide- ranging of activities for retaining more vocabulary in practical uses. To train facilitators on how the interface is an effective tool within the English classroom. To model actions and vocabulary for the students with an amalgamation of attractive and interactive way of learning.

  • 38. DEVELOPMENT PREPARARTION DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT PUBLICATION AND PUBLICITY TRAINING IMPLEMENTATION
  • 39. PREPARATION Using the MEP programs and other resources in order to prepare the curriculum that is going to be prepared and displayed in the website.
  • 40. DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT One of the findings in this research is the fact that some facilitators avoid the use of technological tools within the classroom. It is assumed that it takes a lot of time, sometimes the information is not adequate for the level or cognitive target that is being covered.
  • 42. TRAINING The website is friendly with the user, so that it gets intuitive. However, it is important to induct the new consumers by giving tips and videos on the benefits of the website.
  • 43. IMPLEMENTATION This proposal is going to be implemented in 2018 at Safari School, but it will be accessible for the public in December 2017. The enrollment will be for free by email account, and the user can contribute by donating money to the owners of the page
  • 44. IMPACTS OF THE PROPOSAL • INSTITUTIONAL IMPACT • Having a website that goes accordingly to the MEP programs allow the user to trust on content, so the school will be positively impacted because it will allow the administration to standard the learning style and contents covered by each instructor. It can also be part of their new features to make publicity that may generate more customers. • COMMUNITY AND WORLWIDE IMPACT • If it is on the web everyone can have it; this premise can spawn a spreading effect on parents, instructors and school that is being put to service to whoever who wants to retain more vocabulary of English.
  • 45. OTHER STUDIES DERIVED  Interactive activities and technology.  Doing research on MEP Programs for beginners.  Research on tests to motivate instructors to a more standardized way of teaching and the importance of the role of technology in the English classroom.
