Dr. John Lupiano graduated from SUNY at Buffalo and has practiced internal medicine and general preventative medicine since 1989. Internal medicine is defined as the treatment of adults and involves applying scientific expertise to diagnose and treat illnesses in adults, ranging from general checkups to complex medical issues. Internists must be prepared to address all types of medical problems but specialize in treating chronic illnesses and determining the cause of illnesses through diagnostic tests and procedures. Some internists focus on general internal medicine, while others subspecialize in one of 13 areas through additional residency training.
