Separation of Lanthanides/ Lanthanides and Actinides
An introduction of myself
1. I had spent my undergraduate time
in the University of Liverpool.
Fortunately, I had got my BA
degree from there in Environment
and Planning. The modules I’ve
taken throughout those years
including Environment Impact
Assessment, Town and Regional
Planning, Geography Information
System, Property Development,
Rural Planning, Sustainability,
Green Infrastructure, Hand
Drawing and Urban Design. The
several projects I’ve worked with
my University’s colleagues are
mainly about making sustainable
built environment in British realm.
For example, delivering Green
Infrastructure interventions in
Northwich, Cheshire assessed by
Environment Impact Assessment,
Designing sustainable
neighbourhood in Stoneycroft,
Liverpool, and Annual Monitoring
Report Assessment for Liverpool
City Council.
I had spent one and a half years in
studying urban design including
physical analysis, graphic skills and
design techniques. The projects I’ve
worked in the Univsersity including
housing development in Smithdown
Road, Liverpool, desinging sustainable
community in Stoneycroft, Liverpool,
enhancing public spaces in Sheffield
city centre. I had two Internships
before I came to University of Sheffield.
In 2013 summer, I’ve worked as
assistant researcher and designer in
Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning and
Design Institute. In that internship, I’ve
gained my software skills like AutoCAD
and GIS. In 2014 summer, I’ve worked
in Brodie Urban Design Consultancy.
The main task was housing
development in Knutsford town center.
That experience helped me working
efficiently, making balance between
design, town planning and financial
feasibility issues. Hopefully, these two
experiences and tasks I’ve done in the
University could benefit my future
career.
I am always trying to link sustainability and urban
design together. I would love to have a lot of
studies, reading and researches in order to find
effective and efficient way to deliver socially,
environmentally and culturally sustainable built
environment in urban areas. According to
Department of Economic and Social Affair,
United Nations, around 6.4 billion people will live
in urban areas in 2050. Consequently, creating
the sustainable built environment becomes an
essential and intense task to accomplish. In this
situation, how to integrate sustainability
knowledge I’ve learnt from undergraduate into
urban design process to achieve sustainable
urban design also becomes a crucial question. My
solution is trying to apply appropriate green
infrastructure into the urban area through urban
design. The academic study and research on
green infrastructure are mature nowadays.
However, the case study of applying the
literature into urban design practice seems
limited. I would love to make my effort in this
realm because I have both knowledge of
sustainability and urban design, and I also have
huge interests to keep my researching in both
fields as well.
