During spring semester, I took a class on learning and individual difference with

working on.
Internship Site The Brain and Creativity Institute is located on the USC campus, in
the Dornsife Cognitive Neuroscience Imaging building. The BCI lab itself presents
itself with glass doors and once you enter has a front desk secretary to assist with
any possible questions. In the second floor of the building there are various labs
where it hosts the multiple programs that the BCI has to offer. Some of the
research programs that are housed in the BCI include, the Brain and music
program, feelings program and the one I am involved in, the cross cultural social
emotional program. In addition to having the opportunity to work in the lab, I was
able to do my work at home. This privilege was given to me because most of my
work entailed of coding survey responses.
Activities and Work Duties When I first entered the doors of the BCI, I met with
my fieldwork supervisor, Dr. Yang, who explained to me the purpose of the
program and the overall mission of the BCI. Throughout our conversation, I
mentioned to her my eagerness to learn more about the neuroscience field and my

The organization I work for is experiencing a tremendous and stressful
transformation. It requires that we utilize some of the resiliency builders including
perceptiveness, being aware of exactly what is happening, maintaining a sense of
humor ( a recent physical move of an entire organization into another work site has us
labeling water fountains BHSI only and CBH only ...really?).
One of the strengths of this organization is also one of its weaknesses. We have a
set criteria for those that want to access our services, however during the recent
economic crash we relaxed our rules as we were perceptive enough to realize that if
we didn t there would be a whole community of individuals that we would not serve.
Encouraging flexibility in the workplace can be challenging as individuals must be
able to discern.
Resilience is the cornerstone of the Strength Based perspective. This tool can be
used to re enforce resiliency in the individuals we serve and is a excellent self
assessment tool. I manage a group of para professionals who provide telephonic
support to individuals in recovery. I will share the assessment tool with the group as a
baseline tool for resiliency. This quiz can provide conversation that encourages
openness and enlightenment. I believe it will be immensely helpful. Times are tough,
