3. INTRODUCTION
• Pre-cast technology is a growing method of construction
practice all over the world.
• Although the technology is in India from a long time, there is
very less lean towards this mode due to its many construction
drawbacks.
• SOBHA constructions for the first time has almost minimized
the lose and started its first ever Pre-cast construction in
Bangalore.
4. PRE-CAST TECHNOLOGY
• No Brick is seen in site.
• Organized planning and execution
• Every element is manufactured in a Plant beforehand.
• And can be tested even before placing.
• Attach elements likewise and grouted for its fixture.
• No Plastering required
• Faster pace in construction
• Placing of elements is the only man power required.
5. CODE OF PRACTICE
INDIAN STANDARD
• IS 15916
• Building Design and
Erection Using Prefabricated
Concrete - Code of Practice
• Section Name: Planning,
Housing and pre-fabricated
construction (CED 51)
HONG KONG STANDARD
• Code of Practice for Precast
Construction 2003
• Section Name: Code of
Practice for Precast
Construction 2003
• Currently used in the site of
Dreamacres
6. PRODUCTION
• Elements (Walls and Slabs) are manufactured in the plant located
in the site itself or somewhere near.
• Manufactured in two systems:
• Circulatory System
• Stationary System
• Palates: These are the platforms on which the manufacturing
process is done.
• Circulatory system is for elements of depth less than 300 mm.
• Stationary system is for elements of depth more than 300 mm.
7. ERECTION
• Once the elements are ready, they are barcoded and are sent
to the site for construction.
• The process of placing and fixing of those elements is known
as erection.
• Tower or Mobile cranes are used to lift the elements.
• Anchors are placed in the elements for lifting.
• Grouting plays an important role in the erection.
• The Dowel tubes in the Dowel bars of the adjoining elements
are grouted to impart strength and connection.
• Push-Pull supports, Doka Supports, Hinge Supports are used to
keep Elements in position till the setting time.
9. SHIM PAD
• Essential Erection Equipment
• To maintain the level of elements on the floor
• Has different thicknesses like 1,2,3,5 & 10 mm
• Made up of either plastic or stainless steel
10. TOPPING
• Also can be generalized as Moulding.
• Half-slabs are manufactured in the plant with a thickness of
65 mm and having Lattice Girders.
• Rest of the slab is filled in situ.
• The Electrical and Plumping conduits are easily placed in this
method of Topping.
Before topping, the element loops has to be grouted with
grout material after placing a Shear rod.
12. FINISHING
• No need for Plastering.
• Putty work is minimal
• Less leakages through walls.
• Mineral and Bitumen sheets are provided in order to reduce
the water seepage.
• Internal Design is very much similar to any conventional one.
As the Dream acres is apartments for High Life style people,
the Finishing is very important and is being worked as such.
15. CONCLUSION
• Pre-cast is a brand mode of construction.
• It is faster and easier to construct compared to conventional
methods.
• Eco friendly.
• Earth Quake resistant to the maximum extent.
• Less labor is an asset for this construction.
• Efficient in most of the aspects.
• I enjoyed a lot during the Intern Period…!
