Late in 2011, Roger and Martin Randall (Crystal Direct) bought the Zoom roof
system from The Epwin Group.
Martin quickly developed the Zoom Ready brand, whilst Liniar focused on
product design, manufacture and supply.
When Martin decided to focus on his core business, Crystal Direct, HL Plastics
bought the remaining 50% of Zoom.
Liniar now owns 100% of the Zoom Roofing System.
Martin Randall and Crystal Direct will remain a Zoom customer and continue
to sell complete conservatories to it’s customers, using the original
components.
We’ve rebranded Zoom as Liniar Zoom, because it is a key part of the Liniar
range of products and its innovative suite of windows and doors.

  • 5. Late in 2011, Roger and Martin Randall (Crystal Direct) bought the Zoom roof system from The Epwin Group. Martin quickly developed the Zoom Ready brand, whilst Liniar focused on product design, manufacture and supply. When Martin decided to focus on his core business, Crystal Direct, HL Plastics bought the remaining 50% of Zoom. Liniar now owns 100% of the Zoom Roofing System. Martin Randall and Crystal Direct will remain a Zoom customer and continue to sell complete conservatories to it’s customers, using the original components. Good Morning, for those who don’t know me, my name is Paul Garforth and I am Technical Manger here at Liniar.Our aim this morning is to introduce to you the Liniar Zoom conservatory roof system and our move into roof kit manufacture and supply.I will talk a little about the rebranding of the product, our manufacturing facility and why you should choose to buy a Liniar Zoom roof.   4. So, just a brief overview of the history of the Zoom roof. End of 2011 that Roger and Martin Randall bought the Zoom roof system from the Epwin Group. Martin developed the Zoom Ready brand whilst we concentrated on product design, manufacture and supply.When Martin decided to concentrate on his core Business at Crystal Direct Liniar was able to buy the remaining 50% of Zoom. Crystal Direct remain a Zoom customer supplying complete conservatories to its customers using the original Zoom parts.To bring the roof system in line with the rest of the Liniar range of products we have rebranded Zoom as LINIAR ZOOM. It is important to us that it is identified has part of the Liniar family of innovative products in order to bring all the branding benefits to you the customer.

In addition to the rebranding we are now in a position to manufacture and supply roof kits direct to yourselves.We operate from a 25,000sq.ft. facility utilising the latest manufacturing methods and software with current volumes around 60 kits per week.We offer a 5 day lead time for standard roof kits and we can produce more bespoke roofs such as P-shaped with a 7 day lead time. Delivered on our dedicated delivery vehicles.Based on site we have a dedicated team of staff for quoting andorder processing to ensure a quick turnaround for your quotes.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the key staff based at the Roof Kit department….Keith Langley is General Manager with many year experience within the roof industry with Ultraframe, Quantal and Zoom.Darren Sweet has recently joined us as Office Manager having worked at Eurocell for 7 years.And Andy Gibson will continue to offer valued software and technical support.
  7. So, why choose to buy a Liniar Zoom roof kit?You can buy with confidence from a familiar source, dealing with the same Liniar staff. A one stop shop means that a true LINIAR conservatory can be supplied where there will be no colour match issues between the frames and the roof using the same lead free materials.Complementing the Liniar window, door and Bi-Fold range the roof can be supplied with the same matching foil finishes from a wide range of stocked colours. This enables quick turnaround of orders. As part of the Liniar family the same 10 year Guarantee applies giving consumer confidence. Dealing with one company rather than multiple suppliers in the event of any problems.24, 25 and 32mm glazing can be accommodated either using polycarbonate or DGU and we can either supply the kits glazed or unglazed.The kit will be delivered packaged and bubble wrapped with each part labelled for ease of identification. Installation of the roof is quick and easy saving valuable time on site due to many of its unique components. This also means that in many cases one man can fit the roof.We will only supply kits to our Liniar customer base and as such maintain the branding. This will also mean that as a Liniar customer you have access to all the new products and any new ones in the future.
  8. This brings me nicely onto the products. I will now elaborate on a few of the new developments.We are pleased to launch to day 37 new products along with an expansion of the foil range and the addition of a solid cream substrate to perfectly match the window and door range.
  9. One of our major new products is the introduction of EnergyPlus top caps.One of the key benefits is the increased rigidity compared to traditional pvc top caps. This adds to the whole structure of the roof and improves accuracy when cutting, particularly when scribing Jack rafter capping.Shown on screen you will see that there is a marked improvement with the thermal performance compared to traditional pvc and aluminium top caps.This when used with the LiniarEnergyPlus window range will give a real sales advantage over the competition being able to offer a truly thermally efficient conservatory.Wehave subjected the top caps top caps to a 60 degree cheat test to ensure there function and performance of the clip detail onto the roof bars. This is a real alternative to Aluminium caps.To compliment these we have a choice of ogee or square bottom caps.

There is a full range to enable 24, 25 and 32mm glazing options and working in conjunction with the soft non-migratory bubble gasket provides a perfect seal.You can see here in our display the solid Timber-Like appearance that is generated.TheEnergyPlus end bar cloak seen hereprovides a flush internal and external finish avoiding any unsightly steps.
  11. We have committed to stock the following foil range of colours in order to compliment the Energy Plus window, door and Bi-Fold range. Again a perfect match, and quicker lead times to you and your customers.
  12. To compliment and finish the ends of the roof bars we have a new sculptured end cap that will suit all the bar variants. They are Liniar branded and are supplied foiled to match perfectly with the top caps. No more unsightly faded brown or tan coloured caps in the future.The caps slide into place from the top onto the factory fitted bracket saving time for the installer and making it an easy fit in those less accessible places such as in a valley or box gutter.A new featured eaves end capperfectly matches the Liniar corner post and can be adjusted to any angle with cut lines on the reverse.
  13. One common problem with many roof systems is that of glazing slip.TheLiniar roof has a unique and patented retainer that will stop this 100%. VideoIt easily located into the eaves beam and incorporates a seal that eliminates the need for D/S tape.This makes it also easy for the installer to adjust the glazing. It is used in conjunction with the glazing trim which again has an integral seal. You will see here that a uniform neat finish is achieved and can be foiled to match the whole roof. Any slight misalignment of the glazing is also masked maintaining the aesthetics of the roof line.
  14. Eaves beam is a box section construction that will facilitate steel reinforcement for larger spans when used with Bifolds.Integral gutter bracket positioning.Quick and easy for one man to fit the gutter. Hook on and rotate gutter to the clip.
  15. There many are other unique features that are designed to help the installer and make for an easy and quick assembly. For example the wall bar with its integral drainage channel allows the lead flashing to be dressed directly into it resulting in a neat water tight finish.The patented zoom lockthat connects to the D-Ring to the roof bars facilitates a one man fit, it just pushes into place and this can be easily adjusted on site.
  16. Again, with the aim of speed and ease on site for the installer, our new box gutter has been design with a new range of gutter adaptors.A spring cliplocation means no silicone is required. It is an easy assembly of the box gutter to the eaves beam, it just hooks into place which is also true when forming a raised back assembly.

And as we say here,we will continue to develop Liniar Zoom products but I hope from this brief over view you can appreciate already the many features and benefits of the system and that the next time you are looking for a quote for a conservatory roof you will give Liniar a try.Iwill now pass you back to Chris.

Thermally broken threshold is in stock and is dimensionally the same as the non-thermal break version.Threshold Kickstrips can be retro fitted with the use of D/S tape to the rebate up stand of both sculptured and chamfered sections.A new 36mm glazing platform is now available to give full support of the triple glazed unit.

Recently added to the EnergyPlus range and therefore we can now offer increased energy performance with the chamfered system.There is an increase in the range of foiled colours that we now stock across the product range. Youwill find specific information in the presentation pack on page 26.We are also pleased to announce that we now stock a range of foiled 150mm and 180mm cill end caps to give perfect match to the cill.
  23. ModLok Patio door low threshold is now available which includes a thermal break and a built in external ramp.This is connected with moulding that can also be used for a mechanical frame joint.The Sculptured frame mechanical joint gives a more traditional finish.
  24. After talks with some of our new build customers as resulted in the development of a Head Vent.Compatible with all Liniar frames it will just clip into place. And shortly to be launched will be a Low Threshold half tray. Thanks Chris.We’ve been busy developing a suite of marketing support tools in order to be ready for the launch of the Liniar Zoom roof kit.(Show brochures)We have a consumer brochure, aimed at the homeowner and selling the concept of coloured, energy efficient conservatories.Next, there’s a full systems guide, which you’ve already mentioned. This includes a price matrix to cover every type and size of roof that’s available.We’ve produced an installation video, which you may have seen at lunchtime – to demonstrate how easy the Liniar roof is to fit. The video was filmed on this very roof so we could get really close up to show exactly how everything fits together.The video will be backed up by a full installation guide, which the fitter can take on site to refer to. This will be ready next week.A full wall chart shows all of the roof parts, including the brand new 37 products.You should all have a copy of all of the brochures I’m showing you now – and you’ll be able to order more copies in the usual way as soon as you get back to the office.

To back up the launch of the roof kits, we’re undertaking a full range of trade press advertising, backed up with case studies and press releases.MRA (Mike Rigby Associates) are helping with these for now, as they were part of the Zoom history and it made sense for them to continue The campaign has already seen a fair bit of coverage in the press and we’ll be building on this now that the kits have been officially launched.
  50. The roof installation guide is almost completed and will back up the video, enabling the fitter to take it onsite with him to see exactly how to fit the roof. This should be ready next week.Our next video will be a short sales video to help promote the Liniar Zoom roof kits. This will be around 2 minutes long and will focus on the benefits of having a fully colour-matched and energy efficient conservatory.You’ll be able to see this on YouTube and the Liniar website, and you’ll be able to show it on your own websites.Finally, there are already new survey sheets in the Roof Kits and Accessories brochure, to make it easier to order the roofs – but we’ll also be making pads available for those ordering more.

So, onto the marketing support tools we’ve been developing specifically for the new bi-fold range.(Show brochures)Firstly, there’s a brand new consumer brochure which replaces the ‘Folding Sliding Doors’ brochure and includes the new ModLok door range.There’s a brand new installation video, showing every step of the installation process – designed to avoid problems and future remedial visits.And to back that up, we’ve produced a new installation guide that the installer can refer to on site.The new fabrication manual includes details for both the Standard and ModLok door ranges, and is being posted out to every bi-fold customer tomorrow, to arrive on Friday, so you’re ready to fabricate the doors when the software changes on Monday.And finally, a new wall chart is also being enclosed with your fabrication manual - but you will also get a PDF copy on the memory sticks you’ll be leaving with today.

We’re not stopping there, though.We’ve planned advertising campaigns in the trade press to raise awareness about the new ModLok door, so you should see those start to appear very soon.Alongside the advertising, we’ll be developing case studies and press releases to talk about the developments of the doors.And finally, we’ll be producing another short sales video, which will go onto our YouTube channel and website. You’ll also be able to link to it from your own websites and use it to promote the concept of a PVCu bi-folding door.
  54. We’ve already covered the marketing support on the specific new product launches.I thought this was also an opportunity to give you an update on what’s been happening with Marketing at Liniar - what’s available to you now, what we’re currently working on – and what our future plans are.
  55. A lot of what we’ve been doing so far was all about getting the right foundations in place so that we were in the best position to start building the Liniar brand.Rosie had already set up the Liniar website as a stand-alone site to the HL Plastics site, which has really helped with brand recognition – and we’ve steadily increased our unique website hits over the last 6 months.We’ve spent a lot of time and effort refreshing the Liniar brand to make it not only more modern, but more adaptable for the multiple marketing channels we wanted to use. Feedback from all of you has been really positive so far, and the new bright colours have really freshened up the brand.As part of the logo refresh we also felt it was important to develop strong and clear identity guidelines, so we can keep consistency on how the brand is used. We really want you all to use the logo so this will help your web and brochure designers to make sure they use it in line with our corporate guidelines.(show brochures) The next step was to design new brochure templates, so we’ve spent time planning the different shapes and sizes we needed and created standard templates to make it easier to create brochures in the relevant formats.You may have noticed that we’ve started using email to communicate with you more. Email is such a quick way to get information out to you, but we want to make sure our emails are getting to the right people. We’re still building our email lists so please let us know if you need other people in your team to get Liniar emails.Finally, we wanted to give you easy access to all of the Liniar brochures and images, so that you could use them on your own websites and in your own literature. So we’ve set up the media centre, where you can log in, find what you need and download it instantly. The media centre will continue to develop so let us know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see in there.

The company already had a good range of social media channels set up when I joined, so we’ve built on these foundations to give us exposure across the main five platforms – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Plus and LinkedIn.Video marketing is increasingly important in today’s marketing toolkit, as not only do people find it quicker to watch a video than to read a brochure, videos also help websites rank more highly in Google searches (YouTube is owned by Google) – so we’ve been planning a video production schedule to cover the next 12 months.We’ve also planned and booked our advertising space well in advance, so we know exactly what products to promote when.And finally I’ve been getting to know the trade press editors, with the help of Chris and Rosie, to build relationships and make sure they know more about Liniar, our ethos, and where the company is headed. We have editors from four of the major trade publications [joining us tomorrow / here today] so hopefully you’ll see some coverage about the open day and the new Liniar products over the next month or so!
  57. Here are a few of the new full-page adverts that some of you may have seen in the press recently, and there will be more to come.
  58. And we recognise that editorial coverage is even more important than advertising, so we’re always looking for opportunities to talk about Liniar in the press.(Thursday – thanks to the editors for the coverage opportunities you’ve given to Liniar so far!)

One of the brochures we haven’t yet mentioned is our brand new, luxury Liniar consumer brochure.It features the full Liniar range of products and is firmly aimed at the homeowner, so you’ll be able to pass it onto your customers to help them with sales.We’re giving each firm a full box of these to take away today, so don’t forget to collect yours from reception before you leave. If you’re flying home, as I know some of you are, just let one of us know and we’ll make sure your box goes out on your next delivery.Again, we now have these in stock so you’ll be able to order more as soon as you get back to the office.I know many of you have been waiting for colour swatch booklets to come back into stock. We’ve completely revamped the swatches to make the distinction clearer between stocked and non-stocked colours, and we’re just waiting for the full and final versions to be produced. The version we’re giving you today is a bit of a ‘halfway house’ in order to give you some swatches to be going on with, but the new version is only a matter of weeks away – we’ll email you with more news about that as soon as we can.In addition to these, we’ve created new wall charts, branded sample bags, door mats and mugs, all of which are now available.

There are still a few more ‘point of sale’ items on the to-do list – so look out for news coming soon about all of these.We’re developing posters and pop-up banners that you’ll be able to add your own logo and contact details to, perfect for those who don’t have access to designers of their own. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get access to all of this, so we’ll be using the media centre on the website so you can simply select and download what you need.We’re also being asked for pens and van stickers so more news on both of those as soon as we can.

We also haven’t finished with brochures and other literature to help you to sell more products.Specifier and technical guides are high up on the list, and we’ll also be refreshing some of the existing literature with the new logo and updated product information.We’ll also be producing a Liniar cleaning and maintenance guide, as part of a homeowner pack, that the installer will be able to hand over when a job has been completed – all designed not only to give valuable information and prevent future remedial work, but also to raise awareness of the Liniar brand in the wider marketplace.

Some of the other plans we have in place for this year are to continue to build our social media audiences across all channels, to engage more frequently and to have a programme of continuous updates for the Liniar website.We plan to add more content, resulting in better Search Engine Optimisation, and ultimately more visitors, so we can pass on leads to you.In addition, we’re going to have a huge presence at this year’s FIT Show in June. We’ve doubled the floor space we took out in 2013, so we can showcase even more products, all generating interest for our fabricators. And we’ll also be providing the finalists in this year’s MFC with Liniar windows to fit, which will give us visibility in an additional hall at the show and open installers’ eyes to the benefits of installing Liniar windows.
  63. With the level of positivity around the responses, this is something we’re intending to look at later this year.However there’s still time to have your say if you didn’t get chance to respond. Just collect a form at reception on your way out.
  64. We really want you to get involved. It’s a win-win situation – if we can get homeowners to understand the benefits of the Liniar system, they’ll search for a Liniar installer.We’ve started to develop case studies and press releases with a few of our customers, and want to write more. Glazedale / North East Conservatory – example in pack.Case studies can be a really powerful marketing tool as they demonstrate exactly how you have overcome a challenge, so people identify with them.They can be used in lots of different places – as press releases, on your website, in your sales literature, in your Reception area, on social media – once it’s written, you can use it as you wish.If you have a story about a specific job and want us to help you by writing it up, just email us. Installation images really are the bane of our lives, and I know some of you share this frustration if you don’t have easy access to finished jobs. The brochures I’ve shown you rely heavily on beautiful images to really sell the range, but it’s still difficult to get our hands on finished installations.So, if you know of a lovely project and would be willing to put us in touch with the homeowner to arrange a photoshoot, please do let us know! We always send out a token of appreciation after the shoot, in the form of an M&S voucher, and they get a full set of high-resolution images to use as they wish, on a USB stick. We’ll do all the work – we just need contact details please.As I mentioned earlier, email communication is something we want to do more of, so we can keep you updated more quickly and check who has had the information. It’s very possible that we haven’t yet got the contact details of all the members of your teams you need us to update, so before you leave today I’d really appreciate you seeing Cassie to check whether we’ve got all the necessary details.
