An uninterruptible power supply or uninterruptible power
source is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency
power to a load when the input power source or mains
power fails is known as UPS

A power supply is an electrical device that supplies
electric power to an electrical load. The primary function
of a power supply is to convert electric current from a
source to the correct voltage, current, and frequency to
power the load.
The Power supply that delivers an AC voltage is called
AC power supply.

In normal mode, power supply comes from the AC supply mains and
is given to the loads after being regulated by the stabilizer. This AC
voltage is converted to DC voltage to charge the batteries.
In back up mode, the stored DC power in batteries is converted to AC
power using inverters. A basic Inverter consists of a transformer with
Centre tapped primary winding along with switches which allow the
current to flow back to the battery through the primary windings, thus
allowing a creation of AC voltage across the primary windings.
