T.S. Eliot's poem "Rhapsody on a Windy Night" uses personification to represent his experience in war, likening a street lamp to someone he lost. Ezra Pound's "The River Merchant's Wife: A Letter" describes a wife missing her husband during wartime, using nature and seasons to convey her longing as she waits for his return over many years. Both poems incorporate the authors' experiences of war and loss through creative literary devices.
