Lesson Theme: Wedding in United States Culture
DURING THE PRESENTATION PORTION,

QUESTIONS
- HOW TO COMPARE BETWEEN TWO THINGS
DURING THE PRESENTATION PORTION, THE STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

NEW VOCABULARY:


      aisle                 monogamy
      alter                 polygamy
      arranged Married      religious setting
      bride                 rings
      bridesmaids           spouse
      ceremony              single mothers
      church                traditional vows
      cohabitation
      dating
      divorce
      groom
Listen Carefully, then answer some questions:
After learning the new vocabulary, the
students will watch the first part of the first
episode.

Then, the teacher will ask the students
about what they had watch:
Who is Rachel?
Why did she wear a white dress?
Why did she run out on her wedding day?
When did Rachel decide to run out on her
wedding?
What does “decaf” stand for?
How To Compare between two things:
Then, the teacher will check if the students have read the article “what’s happening in
weddings” that was part of their assignment.
Then, the teacher will ask the students to work in group to discuss the similarities and
differences between wedding in American and Saudi Culture using the following
comparison terms:
Whereas
In comparison
In contrast
However
Although
On the other hand
Likewise
Similarly
But
Yet
After that, the teacher will ask the students to read the article “Wedding Reception” to
understand how comparison terms work in paragraphs.
During the Practice Portion:

The students will work in their task group preparing what they will post in the
class blog.
