Jamestown, Virginia was one of the first American colonies where immigrants settled in search of wealth sent by investors also seeking riches. However, the colony soon became overcrowded as livestock overran the land due to so many people looking to profit. Meanwhile in England, King James unfairly ruled over Protestants with his Catholic ways until the Dutch Prince of William intervened in the Glorious Revolution to protect religious freedom. Transatlantic travel also increased dramatically in the 1700s, allowing migration but exacerbating societal divisions between freedom and slavery.

 So many people were looking for wealth
that it soon became very crowded.
 It was being overrun by livestock.
