Bill Jenkins, Senior Product Specialist for High Level Design Tools at Intel, presents the "Accelerating Deep Learning Using Altera FPGAs" tutorial at the May 2016 Embedded Vision Summit.
While large strides have recently been made in the development of high-performance systems for neural networks based on multi-core technology, significant challenges in power, cost and, performance scaling remain. Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are a natural choice for implementing neural networks because they can combine computing, logic, and memory resources in a single device. Intel's Programmable Solutions Group has developed a scalable convolutional neural network reference design for deep learning systems using the OpenCL programming language built with our SDK for OpenCL. The design performance is being benchmarked using several popular CNN benchmarks: CIFAR-10, ImageNet and KITTI.
Building the CNN with OpenCL kernels allows true scaling of the design from smaller to larger devices and from one device generation to the next. New designs can be sized using different numbers of kernels at each layer. Performance scaling from one generation to the next also benefits from architectural advancements, such as floating-point engines and frequency scaling. Thus, you achieve greater than linear performance and performance per watt scaling with each new series of devices.

An excellent content which describe step by step how to install, monitor and benchmark PCIe/NVMe SSD (many trick not so simple). Another key learning: how to measure real I/O activities on a real workload? How many R/W IOPS, block size, throughtput, and finally what's the impact on SSD endurance and (real)life? A must read, and a huge thanks to my colleague Andrey Kudryavtsev.

Mixed-critical adaptive AUTOSAR stack based on VxWorks, Linux, and virtualiza...Andrei Kholodnyi
Since the first release of its standard in 2003, AUTOSAR has established itself as one of the primary software development standards for the global automotive industry. As the automotive industry is a now undergoing one of the significant changes in its history toward autonomous driving, connectivity and electrification new standards are needed to handle the complexity regarding software architecture for controlling the high-end processors, Ethernet communication, and over-the-air updates in the cloud-connected automobiles. The recent advent of the Adaptive AUTOSAR standard can help accommodate the extensive and complex requirements of autonomous driving by enabling a flexible, dynamic, and service based platform while still maintaining the integrity of high degree of functional safety standards and also properly engaging with established platforms. The standard itself replies on some technologies which are already established in the industry such as virtualization, POSIX PSE51, C++11/14 for application development, ISO26262/ASIL compliance, etc.
This presentation provides example of an implementation of mixed critical Adaptive AUTOSAR stack based on VxWorks RTOS, embedded Linux, and virtualization profile from Wind River. As one of the very few solutions available on the market which is already fulfilling the requirements described above, VxWorks is a strong example of a foundational software platform for Adaptive AUTOSAR-based autonomous driving development. We will also explain what challenges we have encounter with during this process and make some suggestions to the AUTOSAR consortium of how to overcome them in the future.

Abstract:
Most machine learning systems enable two essential processes: creating a model and applying the model in a repeatable and controlled fashion. These two processes are interrelated and pose technological and organizational challenges as they evolve from research to prototype to production. This presentation outlines common design patterns for tackling such challenges while implementing machine learning in a production environment.
Sergei's Bio:
Dr. Sergei Izrailev is Chief Data Scientist at BeeswaxIO, where he is responsible for data strategy and building AI applications powering the next generation of real-time bidding technology. Before Beeswax, Sergei led data science teams at Integral Ad Science and Collective, where he focused on architecture, development and scaling of data science based advertising technology products. Prior to advertising, Sergei was a quant/trader and developed trading strategies and portfolio optimization methodologies. Previously, he worked as a senior scientist at Johnson & Johnson, where he developed intelligent tools for structure-based drug discovery. Sergei holds a Ph.D. in Physics and Master of Computer Science degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Nick Ni, Director of Product Marketing at Xilinx, presents the "Xilinx AI Engine: High Performance with Future-proof Architecture Adaptability" tutorial at the May 2019 Embedded Vision Summit.
AI inference demands orders- of-magnitude more compute capacity than what today’s SoCs offer. At the same time, neural network topologies are changing too quickly to be addressed by ASICs that take years to go from architecture to production. In this talk, Ni introduces the Xilinx AI Engine, which complements the dynamically- programmable FPGA fabric to enable ASIC-like performance via custom data flows and a flexible memory hierarchy. This combination provides an orders-of-magnitude boost in AI performance along with the hardware architecture flexibility needed to quickly adapt to rapidly evolving neural network topologies.

SCADA a gyakorlatban - Accenture Industry X.0 MeetupAccenture Hungary

On September 15th GlobalLogic held MeetUP "Future Intelligent Mobility with Adaptive AUTOSAR - Transforming Vehicle E/E Architecture". Our speaker was software engineer Abhishek Babhulkar.
Learn about the huge transformation the industry is going through, among other things, because of the rapid electrification and the rise of autonomous driving.
At the center point of this transformation is automotive electronics, and Adaptive AUTOSAR is driving this transformation. Adaptive AUTOSAR came with a paradigm shift in the design, with the delivery strategies of automotive software and with introduced technologies like POSIX based OS, OTA updates and SOA, to name a few to automotive embedded systems. All leading OEM’s are adapting Adaptive AUTOSAR to power their class-leading features.
In this presentation, we will see the "Why, How, and What" of Adaptive AUTOSAR, the networking in the automotive embedded systems, and an overview of SOA for communication to understand the future of communication among systems in vehicles.
About the speaker:
Abhishek Babhulkar, Software Engineer has been working in the Embedded industry for around 6 years, out of which he spent a significant amount of time working in AUTOSAR. He also has experience in industrial IOT and automation.
He has worked with premium partners of the AUTOSAR consortium, during which he contributed to AUTOSAR classic 4.4 and AUTOSAR adaptive 20.11.
