Alvaro Siza is a Portuguese architect known for his critical regionalism approach. Some of his most notable works include the Boa Nova Restaurant built between 1958-1963, the Piscina Leca swimming pool built from 1958-1965, and the Santa Maria Church in Portugal completed in 1996. Siza's works demonstrate his response to the concrete problems and transforming situations of the places he designs for through architecture that does not follow a pre-established language.
