The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technology in Vallam, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India organized its first Alumni Meet on June 29, 2019. The event included registration from 9:30-10 AM, an inaugural function from 10-10:30 AM with welcome and inaugural addresses, sharing of experiences and insights by alumni from 10:30-11 AM, an interaction session between current students and alumni from 11:15-12 PM, and a laboratory visit and lunch. The meeting discussed the selection of an alumni association chairman and secretary and speeches given by alumni on industry trends, opportunities, and technological advances to benefit current students.

MINUTES OF ALUMNI MEETING
Date: 29.06.2019
The following points were discussed in the meeting,
 Alumni meet started at 10.30 A.M. with around 45 students from 2009, 2010, 2011,
2012, 2013 & 2014 batches
 Welcome speech was given by Mr.P.Srinivasan Asst. Prof./Mech. He invited all the
alumni’s.
 Inaugural speech was followed by Dr.D.Jeyasimman, Asso.Prof & HOD/Mech. He
pointed out the need for alumni meet periodically. He addressed the changes brought
in curriculum and teaching methodologies in following years
 Selection of alumni association Chairman, Secretary was done after the discussion
with the students.
 After the selection process a small break was given and refreshment was provided to
all.
 Alumni students had delivered a speech to our current students regarding the
industrial atmosphere, job openings, technology advancements etc...
 Vote of thanks was given by Mr.C.M.Vivek, Asst. Prof./Mech. He thanked all the
students for their presence in this occasion.
 Alumni students, current Students and Faculties had lunch together as planned as
things wrapped up.
