This document summarizes a research study that examined the relationship between secondary school students' perceptions of their teachers and their academic achievement orientation in Abia State, Nigeria. The study administered a questionnaire to 1000 students and analyzed the data using ANOVA and Fisher's LSD tests. The results showed that students with high levels of perception of their teachers had higher academic achievement orientation than those with moderate or low levels of perception. Specifically, students were found to be motivated by and internalize the orientations and values of teachers they perceived positively. The study thus concluded that positive student perceptions of teachers can lead to superior academic achievement orientation.
