 Christopher Stender is an immigration attorney with more than
two decades of experience practicing immigration law. In
conjunction with his everyday immigration law practice,
Christopher Stender is also an active member of the American
Immigration Lawyers Association.
In a recent statement, the American Immigration Lawyers
Association (AILA) expressed a measure of apprehension
regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of
Republican Senator Jeff Sessions to the post of Attorney
General.
AILA President William A. Stock urged lawmakers to hold
Sessions accountable for fairness in areas relating to immigration
law and reform.

Association
 Stock noted that the Attorney General sets the tone for the
entire system of justice in the country, and called upon
Sessions to affirm that all individuals facing deportation
proceedings be entitled to due process.
AILA Executive Director Benjamin Johnson echoed Stock’s
sentiments, expressing that the Attorney General should
be an individual who is committed to protecting the civil
rights of all persons, whether they are birthright or
naturalized citizens. Johnson also said that, given some of
Sessions’ remarks in the past, there is some concern about
whether or not Sessions holds those ideals.
