Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

58. In 1825 the British began developing Coffee arabica, the most common variety
of bean, on plantations across Ceylon, and within a few decades the country
had become the world’s largest producer of the beans.
But in 1869 the British coffee empire unraveled almost as fast as it began with
the arrival of the fungus Hemileia vastatrix. Over the next two decades, the
rust spread quickly through Ceylon, ravaging coffee plants as it went. By 1889,
arabica production in the country had all but shut down.

71. A blogger writes..
“It can be argued whether it is deliberate or coincidental. If deliberate, it
actually gives him a pretty sweet back story. The X is certifiably insane. My best
guess would be severe Bipolar I disorder, anti-social personality disorder, and
ADHD. At any rate, he was heavily medicated with typical antipsychotics to the
point of developing TD. So, he breaks out, is obviously no longer medicated,
but the TD remains as evidence of his former treatment. Tardive dyskinesia is
made up of involuntary facial/body movements that become present when
neuroleptic drugs are used for an extended period of time, and remain even
after the medication is removed. Whenever X is particularly psychotic or in
high stress situations, like when he's telling people ”___ ___ ___ ___ ____" his
tongue flicks in and out of his mouth, obvious dyskinetic behavior. Pretty cool
huh? “

74. X is a neologism coined by Richard Dawkins, in his book, the Selfish
gene. It is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to
person within a culture”.A X acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas,
symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to
another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable
phenomena with a mimicked theme.
A field of study arose in the 1990s to explore the concepts and
transmission of X in terms of an evolutionary model. Criticism from a
variety of fronts has challenged the notion that academic study can
examine X empirically. However, developments in neuroimaging may
make empirical study of X possible
The word is usually used in a completely different sense these days.
Maybe Drake would know best. Dawkins himself has ruled out that the
word used in this sense is different from what he meant it to be.

81. • X seems like a child with a healthy personality. She seems to have a good
relationship with her parents and her extended family, is social with many
animals and other people, and has an expansive thirst for adventure. It
seems like she’s living the dream of every preschooler. Her healthy sense
of adventure though, may be indicative of something more problematic to
say the least. Her willingness to wander off, as well as her inability to recall
previous travels, are both symptoms of a disorder called Fugue State.
• Fugue State is a disorder of reversible amnesia. This means that when
someone suffering from this rare disorder, they will temporarily forget
memories or their own personality for a period of time, but will eventually
recover with all previous memories whole. However, memories from the
fugue attack do not usually remain.
• Sounds a bit like a soap opera or brain slug attack. However, how this
applies to X is by her incessant wanderings. These episodes often result in
unplanned trips, none of which are remembered later on. You think that,
with all of these adventures she has, X might not have to consult the ___ as
often as she does. If she’s forgetting these episodes though, it makes more
sense.

84. Gray wolves are generally monogamous, meaning mating pairs of wolves
remain mated for life.Since wolves are pack animals, there is invariably only
one breeding pair in a given group, almost exclusively the alpha male and his
mate.Since wolves rarely inbreed, it is quite common for male offspring of
the alpha pair to leave the group when they reach the age of 2 or 3, to
search for either new territory or a mate of their own.
Some wolves, if unable to establish a territory or find a mate, mate with the
daughters of already established breeding pairs from other packs, Such
gray wolves are called ________ wolves, and unlike males from established
packs, do not form pair bonds with the females they mate with.

93. In March 1993, veteran comet discoverers Eugene and Carolyn Shoemaker, and
David Levy discovered comet Shoemaker-Levy 9.This serendipitous discovery
turned out to ultimately overshadow the results from their main observing
program.
A circular released that month by the IAU contained a casual reference to the
comet’s position, which mentioned that the comet could be near Jupiter. As
months progressed, it became clear that the comet was actually orbiting Jupiter,
rather than the sun as most comets do. Calculations predicted that the comet
would crash into Jupiter in July 1994.
It finally crashed into Jupiter between July 16 and 22, 1994, in what became the
first direct observation of an extraterrestrial collision of Solar System objects.
This incident also highlighted Jupiter’s role as a “cosmic vacuum cleaner” for the
inner solar system Give funda-why would it be called so?
5
94.
95. Answer
• Jupiter’s strong gravitational field pulls in asteroids, comets and other
space debris that could be potential impactors on other planets, thus
protecting them from collisions.(In an earthly context, that means
prevention of a lot of mass extinctions :P)
• (In fact, In 2009, it was shown that the presence of a smaller planet at
Jupiter's position in the Solar System might increase the impact rate
of comets on the Earth significantly.)
96. The cobra effect occurs when an attempted solution to a
problem actually makes the problem worse. The term stems
from an anecdote from the time of British rule of India. The
British were concerned about the number of venomous cobra
snakes in Delhi. The government offered a bounty for every
dead cobra. Initially this was a successful strategy as large
numbers of snakes were killed for the reward. However the
program was soon scrapped for a particular reason. Why?
A similar situation recurred in Surat during the Plague.
