This document provides an update on the characters and stories from the Sims series Already in Progress. It summarizes various events, including Eileen dealing with her mother's death, Jasper helping care for his grandson Oliver, Simon's family adopting a daughter named Samantha, and Trixie moving in with her friend Tirtha and encountering a strange man. It also provides updates on other characters like Descartes spending time with his cousins and working on his gardening badge. The summary concludes by noting the author has run out of things to say.

1. Eyyyy shrouda, everybody! Welcome to the first installment of Already in Progress for
2011! Ye gods, where does the time go?
I’ve had an enormous number of views since my last post, which is actually a bit
confusing. If you’re one of the new readers, let me say: Welcome! It’s good to see you! If
you’re an already established reader, let me say: Welcome! It’s good to see you! I like
seeing all of you, and I love getting comments. (Hint, hint.) I’d recap, but if you know
anything about this story, you know that it starts in the middle. Let’s keep that going,
shall we?
And so, without further ado, I am pleased to present our story: Already in Progress...

2. Over at the Tang-Sanders household, things have not been going so well. Eileen has
taken to eating food that is rather more green than is generally considered healthy.

3. Not to mention her new-found fondness for sponge bathing.
The bathroom, complete with shower, is directly across the hall, by the way.

4. This can likely be attributed to the recent death of her mother.
It has nothing to do with my Simming skills or lack thereof.
Nope, nothing at all to do with that.

5. Elle Tang, 69 years old. I wish I could provide lots of detail about Elle and say many
positive things, but her main appeal for me was that Chalcedony liked her okay and she
was handy. Eileen, of course, loved her mother, despite Elle’s distinct lack of parenting
skills.
Goodbye, Elle. May you have better luck next time around.

6. Myrna and Louise have grown up well anyway, as you can see in this nicely artsy shot
that is completely spoiled by Mifune deciding to take the trash out.

7. And the two widowed Family Sims seem to have found comfort in each other.
EILEEN (V.O.): Miffers? Does it… bother you?
MIFUNE (V.O.): What?
EILEEN (V.O.): My dad and your mom?
MIFUNE (V.O.): Nah. If it makes them happy, what’s wrong with it?
EILEEN (V.O.): He’s not your father, that’s what. Not to mention that she’s robbing the
cradle.
MIFUNE (V.O.): If you were seventy-six, wouldn’t you feel pretty good to still be
pulling in the younger men? And Dad’s been gone a long time. I don’t grudge her a little
happiness.
EILEEN (V.O.): Well, Mom hasn’t been gone very long at all!
MIFUNE (V.O.): Ah…

8. As it turned out, Eileen didn’t have very long to be ticked off about her father’s new
girlfriend. Although I’m sure she would have preferred a different resolution to the issue.

9. Chalcedony (Littledragon) Tang, 72 years old. Cal… Cal was the second son and middle
child of the wonderfully suited couple Andrew and Opal Littledragon. He was the twin of
the determined Jasper Littledragon and the older brother of the equally stubborn
Amethyst Littledragon. He fathered Eileen and was a caring and helpful grandfather to
Louise and Myrna. Other than that, well…
Rest in peace, Cal.

10. Cal’s brother Jasper has heard that there is a large cash prize attached to the Most
Supportive Father Ever award, and he is competing for it. First he helped Oliver Grow
Up.
JASPER: Who’s a big boy now? (sniffs suspiciously) Oh my Esme, did you just ruin your
onesie? (realizes something) Oh my Esme, you just ruined my shirt!

11. And he’s been helping with potty training too.
JASPER: Come on, kid! I don’t take this long in the potty, and I’ve got an enlarged
prostate and won’t eat that fiber supplement your grandma keeps shoving at me.

12. He even helps with bathtime.
JASPER: Oliver Stanley Couderc, will you just hold still?
OLIVER: No! Wan ducky!
JASPER: You can’t have Duckduck. Duckduck is my Duckduck, and he only takes baths
with me.
OLIVER: Wan ducky! Wan it wan it wan it! (splashes water angrily)

13. Jasper can thank Simon for teaching Oliver to talk. Although I’d be willing to bet that he
won’t.
And speaking of Simon’s family…

14. It’s gotten bigger.
NIREL: Hi, Samantha. You can call me Ba, and that’s Da.
SAMANTHA LITTLEDRAGON (NEWLY ADOPTED): Hi, Ba!
HARKON: We’re really glad you’re here, Samantha.
SAMANTHA: I’m really glad you want me. I didn’t think anybody would want me ever.
(Everyone gets a little choked up)

15. Somebody isn’t happy about all of the new additions to the household, though.
KITTY: Hey, that’s my nightgown! Copycat!

16. She made quite a nuisance of herself about it, too.
KITTY: You can’t sleep in my upstairs hallway! I don’t care if it’s one of the only
enclosed rooms – it’s my upstairs hallway, and I didn’t say you could sleep there!

17. And so…
KITTY: I don’t understand! Why do we have to leave? It’s our house!
MIRCEA:
KITTY: So he inherited the house, so what? He should know that it’s still our house!
MIRCEA:
KITTY: ...But what if I don’t want to move on?
MIRCEA:
KITTY: Okay. I love you, too. But I’ll miss them.

18. TRIXIE: Hi, Tirtha! Dang, is that a big U-Haul! How much stuff do you think I have,
anyway?
TIRTHA: Well, I wanted to be sure we didn’t run out of space. It’s only an in-town
rental, so it won’t cost that much. Where should we start?
TRIXIE: Come on inside, I’ll show you. Hey, you’ll never guess what happened to me
last night when I went to get a decent outfit.
TIRTHA: You’re right – what?

19. TRIXIE (V.O.): This redheaded dead guy in a cape walked up to me and said “Aihay – ”
No wait. “Aieeha – ” Crap, I can’t do the accent. Um…
REDHEADED DEAD GUY IN A CAPE: aihe, Erwe arye uye Umfre?
TRIXIE (V.O.): It sounded like “Hi, where are you from?” in Alien, but his accent was
really weird.
TRIXIE: Aitway. Ouyay eakspay Alienway?
REDHEADED DEAD GUY IN A CAPE (after a pause for concentration): ai ikspe
eliEnwe. Utwe arye uye ikispe?
TIRTHA (V.O.): Huh?
TRIXIE (V.O.): “I speak Alien. What are you speaking?”

20. TRIXIE (V.O.): And then he just ran out of there like somebody had set his pants on fire
or something.
TIRTHA (V.O.): You’re right. That is weird.
TRIXIE (V.O.) (indignantly): And how dare he criticize my accent? I learned Alien from
when I was a baby!

21. TIRTHA: Well, I think we’ve got more important things to worry about than some
random redheaded dead guy in a cape whose pants may or may not be on fire. Like: What
on earth possessed you to buy that bedroom set?
TRIXIE: It’s a good deal: bed, dresser, two nightstands, and a TV cabinet. They’re
antiques.
TIRTHA: They won’t all fit in your room. And they’re hideous.
TRIXIE (stung): No they aren’t!
TIRTHA: Trixie, they’re red lacquer with gold inlay and mother-of-pearl peacocks.
TRIXIE: I like them! They’re beautiful!
TIRTHA: (sighs) Okay. Do you want to go backwards up the stairs or frontways?

22. Over at the headquarters of The Most Logical Brotherhood of the Telescope, it’s Official
Age Transition Day. In age order from left to right: Matt (in need of a uniform change),
Charlie, Don, and Eddie. Not pictured: Bartholomew.
Did you notice? Don has a chin! And I think Charlie missed out on the Schnozz entirely.

23. Ty and Matt are still very sweet together, although since they’re both full Brothers and
Elders (and since Matt had threeps), I can’t really tell them apart anymore. I guess it’s
true that couples who have been married a long time get to looking like each other.
I think that’s Tyrone doing the singing.

24. Dante is very Nice, very Outgoing, and a Popularity Sim. He spends his time
volunteering to teach after-school chess classes at the community center – Say again?
Popular kids don’t do that?
Well, they should. And if you don’t mind having friends who aren’t in your age group,
it’s a great way to meet people.
DANTE: I don’t know, Chloe… Are you sure you want to do that?
CHLOE GONZAGA: Uh-huh.

25. Don also tutors kids, including his little brother.
EDGAR: Thanks, Donnie! I understand it now!
DANTE: No problem, buddy. Did you brush your teeth?
EDGAR: Not yet! (skips off to do just that)

26. But he’s still a fairly normal teenage boy.
DANTE: Um, Mrs. Royce? I’m sure she’s a very nice girl, but she’s not a redhead. I like
redheads.
SAMANTHA ROYCE THE MATCHMAKER: Try paying a bit more next time, hon. It
might work.
DANTE: But it might not?
SAMANTHA ROYCE THE MATCHMAKER: You said it – not me.

27. Charlotte, on the other hand, likes to hand out noogies.
Don is not as fond of this hobby as Charlie is.

28. If Charlie’s not noogie-ing somebody, she’s usually on the Dance Sphere.
I bet she’s preparing to beat up the cow mascot in college. And while I normally don’t
approve of using violence to solve problems, I have to say that I do approve of that goal.

29. Puzzlingly, Pleasure Sim Charlie also throws an awful lot of thought bubbles like this. Is
this a sign of Impending Doom? Or simply a wish that someone would adopt her
annoyingly Nice little brothers?
And speaking of potential signs of ‘Hood Splodiness…

30. Sarah Jane and Timothy are still very much in love – and still occasionally traumatizing
Descartes.
SARAH JANE: Hi, sweetie! How was school?
DESCARTES: Well, it didn’t have anybody walking around in their underwear, so it was
better than here. I brought a friend home and we want to play mahjong. Can we have the
table now, please?
SARAH JANE: Okay, honey. Come on, Tim. Let’s go get dressed.
Or maybe not.

31. I would just like to point out that Descartes does not actually know how to play mahjong.
DESCARTES: Okay, now it’s your turn.
LOUISE: I think I’m going to kung pow. (moves a piece)
DESCARTES: That’s not a kung pow. That’s a foo yun. Anyway, you can’t do a foo yun
until after you’ve done a Breaking Wind.
LOUISE: Nuh-uh.
DESCARTES: Yuh-huh.

32. Once Descartes became a Teen (in the bathroom), he stopped worrying so much about
Breaking Winds and Hidden Tigers. Instead, he concentrated on getting rid of the last few
pounds that turned out to be surplus to his growth spurt requirements.

33. Successfully, of course. Descartes is cool. He can do anything.

34. For example, here he meant to fall on his butt in front of the older boy from my OWBC
(left) and the required child from my Polyamory Project Challenge (right). And he did it
quite well.

35. And here we see Descartes earning his Bronze Gardening badge. He’s actually a bit slow
off the mark as compared to his mother, but I’m sure he’ll make it up in no time.
He is, after all, Descartes.

36. Descartes is good friends with three of his cousins. (The other three are somewhat
younger and are part of my OWBC. I’m not sure Descartes knows them yet.)
EDGAR: And, and then there’s going to be a rocket ship, and it’s going – it’s going – it’s
going to do something… I forget what.
CHARLOTTE: Maybe Don can tell us when he gets back from the bathroom.
DESCARTES: Do you think I should go check on him? Maybe he fell in.
CHARLOTTE: Nah, he’ll be fine.

37. And although Descartes doesn’t put up with much nonsense due to his one Nice point, he
is quite tolerant of Dante’s tendency to be generous with Family Kisses hello.
Yes, that is indeed a Family Kiss. It’s the only option available to any of them, with
which I am perfectly content. I do inbreed control the population pretty rigorously, but
straight up first cousins are just icky.
Besides, Don likes girls. Descartes hasn’t gotten around to figuring out which he prefers
yet, but whoever he ends up with will need to be physically fit and will preferably hang
around in their swimwear all the time.
And with that comment, I have completely run out of things to say, so I guess I should
stop talking now. Don’t you just hate it when people keep on talking long after they’ve
run out of things to say? I do. I hate it so much, I think that people who do it should have
tomatoes thrown at them. Except then there’d probably be a world tomato shortage.
