This document provides a biography and analysis of the Iraqi poet Mater Al-Sha'ar. It notes that he began writing poetry at a young age and used his work to criticize Arab political authorities, forcing him into exile. Mater became famous for his short, impactful poems addressing political and social issues through satire and humor. He regularly mocked and criticized Arab leaders, media, foreign policy, and the public's silence regarding oppression. His ironic poetry tricked readers and left them reflecting on uncomfortable truths.

'Dramatic Monologue' is a literary technique used in poetry by the poets, especially Robert Browning. It refers to the single speaker and the silent listener. The context, the mind of the speaker is understood through the speech of the speaker. Robert Browning's famous poems, 'My Last Duchess', 'The Last Ride Together' and 'Andrea del Sarto' are masterpieces of dramatic monologues.

The Woman as a Representation of AfricaJeremy Borgia
In the captivating prologue of Lorraine Hansberry’s Les Blancs, the audience meets a mysterious African Woman (referred to throughout the text, and thus throughout this paper, as “the Woman”). Hansberry describes her as “majestic and motionless...Black-skinned and imposing, cheeks painted for war, above her waist a girdle of hammered silver...She advances slowly, majestically, to mounting drumbeats, in an unmistakeable dance of the warriors”. After the prologue she sporadically appears throughout the play, though her initial entrance sets the tone for the entire work by thematically providing a historical and cultural context for the drama to build upon. Some critics, including Philip Effiong, assert that the Woman’s role is as Tshembe’s conscience and spirit. However, this fails to acknowledge her greater role as the representative of African identity and culture which, though a significant part of Tshembe’s development and even conscience, is not tied to Tshembe in particular; rather, the Woman is a personification of African culture and the interlaced cultural consciousness which works most apparently in Tshembe as he eventually embraces his African identity and his corresponding role in the resistance. Although the use of the African woman warrior to represent Africa—from a feminist or anti-colonialist perspective—may initially seem “mentally colonized” or even stereotypical, I will argue that Hansberry deliberately reappropriates those notions within the larger context of anti-colonialism. By doing so, Hansberry invites her audience to reevaluate perceptions of African identity and culture.

Review of Jobran Khalil Jobran's works from Romantic FeaturesIJERA Editor
Jobran Khalil Jobran great immigrant writer and poet have been known with different view of his contemporary

in new Arab literature and this caused the creation of a special style which at that time address the entity and
existence by mysticism and kind of intuition retrieved from its receiver view in solution of social ,emotional
and religious situation, as he shined with his myth and other great works. The aim of this article is that the
romantic feature of his works and elegance lyrics was investigated from different view of critics, and that
influence is the presence of woman, especially his mother in his romantic phenomena. This is a propellant and
different factor that we cannot neglect it according to the strategic important impact has had on his careers and
creation of a his world style. Social and environmental conditions changed the route of his career. These
conditions affected him and inevitably reflected them in his poem. If conditions are suitable, the feeling
manifested and appears and the talent shows off in the best way.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Born in 1954, in Albasra in the southern region of Iraq.
began writing poetry when he was 14 years old.
As most poets, he Started with romantic and love poems.
Then he soon became interested
in politics and started to recite poems
in public celebrations.
These poems were very inciting
against the political authorities in Iraq
which caused the police to declare
his name as a Wanted Person.
As a result, he left his home and went
to Kuwait.
3. In Kuwait, he worked in as a teacher in public schools and
as an editor in a news paper called Alqabas.
During that time, this news paper started to publish his
poems every day in its editorial page.
Later on, he became very popular in the Arab world and
his poems seemed to raise the ire of Arabian authorities.
Again another tragedy happened to the poet because of his
sharp words and high tone , the Kuwaiti government asked
him to leave the country.
he became an exile from most of the Arab countries
Then he travelled to London and joined a liberal Arabic
newspaper paper(Alriah) which allowed him to publish his
poems.
4. He wrote long poems (Qasia’d), but he became famous for
a specific type of poetry called (alwamdhah).
(and a very short poem, usually not exceeding a few words
or a few lines. It is considered unique for its unified subject
and condensed message that require using a few words and
short sentences.
• This kind of poetry started to became very common lately
in Arabic because it is used to deal with political and social
issues in the public sphere.
• It is also known as the poetry of Laftat(banners) because
these short poems are like the signs or banners that people
raise in demonstration.
5. In this study, I want to find what are the themes that
Mater uses in his poetry and how does he make use of
them to create mockery or humor in his poems.
6. The image of the dictator with his spies and his
repressive methods that he uses with his opponents.
the governor decreed that my tongue to be cut
when I sang my poems without asking a permission
the governor also decreed that I should be killed
Because I did not applaud and cheer for him when
he asked
7. Almost not an Arab leader did escape his satire.
He criticized their corruption, the lavish style of living
they have while their people are suffering in poverty
and hunger, their policies in Foreign Affairs and their
pace initiatives with Israel.
8. With tyranny a thief in Europe can become the
boss of a club
or he could be the leader of a gang in America
However in our home where hand cutting is
legislated
the thief becomes the leader of the country
9. Mater criticized the policy of Western countries and
the US with regard to their support for dictators in the
Arab world.
Do we need to grieve the death of a prostitute
Because her opponent is the pimp?!
Will we cry for a hunting dog
That was killed by the huntsman?!
10. He also criticized the lack of freedom and liberal
thinking
He said to his wife: hold your tongue .
He told his son: shut up
your voice makes me confused
Don’t say a word
I want to write about
Freedom of expression
11. Mater not only criticizes Arab leaders but also even the
people themselves for their silence about their ruler
tyranny. For example he usually describes them as herds
who walk behind the shepherd.
A herd in the grazing is walking
Behind the shepherd and in the back there is an obedient dog
He also even makes fun of himself
I give up as a lamp
who is scared from the blade of a knife
12. The poet constantly criticizes the media and believes
that it plays a large role in the delay and backwardness
of the nation. It is always depicted as a liar and
hypocrite.
Our media……our execution
It Kicks us
It Insults us
It Spits in our faces
And nothing we can do except to say thanks
13. After reading his poems, the reader feels that the poet
has just fooled and tricked him with the unexpected
conclusion of the poem.
For example
My land is the land of prophets and messengers
Why they are many , if we are not stupid.
14. The irony of Mater varied between mocking of honor and
lineage, courage, which are all key components in the Arab
culture.
One of the sarcastic tool that he keeps using it is describing
the person with different animals that are considered nasty
and mean in the Arabic such as hyena, dog, donkey and
ostrich.
.The reader may laugh at his poem, but after that he is left
with a bitter feeling since he soon realized that he was
laughing on himself.
He also create the sense of satire by using excessive praise
and the reverse the scene
15. Our media is moderate
faithless
But very religious
Look how it starts with Koran
and also close with the recitation of Koran
Oblique, No it can’t
the only defective it has is idolatry
humiliation and submission
Lies and slander
And blocking every word Or image
Or whisper that respect humanity
